I ended up destroying the trim ring when using this method... I have ordered a new unit, and will be removing the trim ring from that to apply to my car. What is your best advice to avoid damaging the trim ring? Is there an alternative method to removing it?
On car-analysis.com there is another video showing a different method and a PDF as well as further instructions showing 2 other alternate installation methods.
where can i buy a crystal series volume button? My BMW dealer cannot find one for my 8 series? I bought another product online but when inserted it was not straight
If your 8 series is 2023 or older, I have the product for you. If it’s 2024 or newer, I cannot help you. I don’t know if anyone sells that product. You may have to buy the whole panel from BMW.
@@car-analysis I need to remove my panel to install something else, is there a method to doing this? Using a pry tool I feel like I am breaking the panel. If you have a good method to share I would really appreciate it! Thank you!
@@TrailerJoemov Sorry, I don't have any good info about removing the panel because that is not required when installing our product. I know that some users removed the panel accidentally when trying to remove the trim ring or the button. But you can go to BMW Repair Manual, see car-analysis.com/BMW-Crystal-Series-installation.htm
There is no need to remove the media panel. This is just for the demo. And please note that there are 2 installation videos for this procedure. The second one can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/eFsjM0Hh3f4/v-deo.html
Good video, however is not always not very practical for driver to remove the unit to install. You should as least have a video showing do it for all your installation video in the cAr. This is due to the different angle how on it going to be done. Removing unit just need another tough step again...
This is a demo video. For our installation videos, we use test units that are removed from the vehicles. It is not necessary to remove the units from the vehicles to perform the installations. If this was so, it would be mentioned in the printed installation instructions.

Anyone that dares this method will be looking at 100s of dollars after they unsuccessfully remove the ring and are left with a marred and damaged ring. Many forum theads trying this method with disappointing stories and big costs. Drill tiny hole or use the black sticky method. Do your self a favor .. dont try this cloth pliers method.
It is true that this installation method has some risks, while it works well in many cases. Therefore, I made another video that uses a piece of printer paper instead. On car-analysis.com/BMW-Crystal-Series-installation.htm 3 other methods are mentioned. Different methods work for different cars, without much systematics.
to each their own but what a waste of money in my opinon.....all the crystal trim is highly overpriced especially this one with it being so small and unnoticeable
Thanks, Waldo!
I used this method and when the ring snapped off it was crushed by the force of the pliers. Where can I order a replacement ring?
pliers not needed, use a work glove with rubber on inside, grip the ring and wiggle it out whilist with another hand holding the main panel
Thank you! All tips are welcome.
Dziekuje bardzo
You're welcome. Please note that there is an alternate installation video here: ua-cam.com/video/eFsjM0Hh3f4/v-deo.html

There is no need to remove the panel from the car. Note that there are several alternatives for this installation.
Can you do a video on how to remove interior trim?
Not sure what you mean with the interior trim? If you mean the radio panel, it does not have to be removed.

Unfortunately, you have to buy the whole audio panel. You can get used ones on eBay for a reasonable amount.
