My late father purchased a used 15 year old "S3" in Africa in 1979. I had the extreme privilede of driving it on several occasions. If I had to describe the car in a single word, I would say incredibly "civilised". Ivory in colour with grey leather, "she" had incredible presence and folks in new Mercedes "S" class's(then the car of choice for the "well to do" there)would ogle as we glided past. Yet with a 6.3ltr V8 "she" was also surprisingly nifty. I remember on one occasion leaving a Mustang Mach 1, stalled at the traffc lights as we surged forward. Okay the Mustang roared past burning rubber 30 seconds later, straight into a police speedtrap I had spotted earlier. I was driving and had eased of the accelerator as in the Bentley, we sailed sedately past..!! Such fond memories of the Best Car, Dad ever owned..!!
That exhaust system is a nightmare. I own one of these and they do not sound like that with the proper mufflers. Yes the under hood is a disappointment
Really? Amazing. I have a 1965 Silver Cloud III, which I have owned, as the second owner, since 1982. I have kept it in excellent condition. It cost £15,000.
