Angle Grinder HACK - Make A Wood Chipper | DIY
- Hello Everyone!
Today I show you how to make a wood chipper. I used angle grinder to power this wood chipper. This wood chipper mechanism is made with the circular saw blades. Totally I used eleven circular saw blades to make this wood chipper. This wood chipper shreds the wood very fastley. This homemade wood chipper really works good. I hope you will enjoy this angle grinder hack.

You are the first person I've seen on youtube who actually uses his cutting tools without a significant drop in rpm while working them. I always wonder why people overload their grinders and drills so they significantly drop in rpm. The cut is so much cleaner when you let it go through under mostly its own weight. Much praise!
Whether it is useful, safe, or practical, I do really enjoy seeing what intelligent and motivated people create.
Thank you
Yes, it could be useful if the saw discs in box and special motor, thicker axle and better boolt nuts
Suggestion for MK2.
Add a tapered washer between each blade. Offset the blades So that the blades each touch at opposing 180 degree points on the circumference.
This way the material will get fully shredded without having to present at an angle, and wont have to be kept moving about on feed.
I would suggest he adds a sieve on the machine in order to calibrate the woodchips. This is useful for someone willing to make wood pellets business. It seems cost effective for high output.
Another great use for the ever versatile hand grinder and thanks to Harbor Freight we all have one or two. Anaco, Anz.
your work was very good
Thank you
There is dangerous and unnecessarily dangerous and I think this covers both nicely! Well done!
Actually that looks like a VERY fine device. It might lack a bit of security, but by wielding a 45° protection on the front, that would cover the saw blades from the top of the tank to the bottom of the axis (basically, all the parts you're NOT using when chipping), that device would already be safer (at least more than some industrial ones).
Best security being a mobile protection that would stop power the very moment some force is pushing it.
NICE JOB
yes
The angle grinder has a lot of possibilities :)
Very nice build. Super scary. All the better for being scary. Love it! I think a beating in the outboard plate might have been a better solution than just the washer fitting in the hole, but that’s just me. I am also thinking some 10” saw blades I have laying around and the 7 hp motor from an old lawn mower would be a lot of fun. Great builds. Subscribing for sure now!
Bravissimo ottimo lavoro!!!!sei un grande
Wow Wow Wow!!!! simple and robust !!
Protip: remember when milling metal back off every few cuts so your blade can empty the shavings and it doesn't do anything weird (like smoke, weld itself warp the metal, etc)
Yep, i observe the same too,.if you put on cutwheels for long time it will just weld it self,.you must let it cool down for atleast a sveral seconds
It was very pleasant to see an Indian youtuber working on a project with great efficiency and accuracy respect man
I guess you are a mechanical engineer?

That was really really cool thank you for posting the video
Nice work. This type of gadget would be very useful for composting - You can feed it food scraps, leaves, etc. I can see it was tricky to keep the wood pushing against the blades, but you could resolve that by adding some type of feeder (mouth) that uses rubber or plastic to push the wood against the blades (instead of having to manually redirect it). I would also try to incorporate bolts into the blade housing so you can more easily change the blades when they get dull. You don't want to have to partly destroy and rebuild it to maintain it. Great start, though!
Thank you robert
Gravity feed
That is a neat build. But it's a very slow feed to ground it up to practically saw dust, if that is what you want.
I would like to build one similar, but a different type of cutter that makes coarse chips. Maybe a small sprocket that is threaded to arbor onto the grinder shaft, a #35 size chain to a large sprocket on the cutter shaft.
This would slow the rpm but increase the torque to cut large chips and feed the wood faster.
Wow is thebest brother👍🏼👍🏼💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽

That is a freaking awesome idea and beautifully executed! Please add some type of handguard or fence. You have a great talent and skill and I know personally it's a lot harder to do things without a finger let alone possibly your hand or arm you scared the s*** out of me.. Much love man.😎😲😳😱😵🤕
This idea is in my mind but in wider range...thank you that you apply it and sharing your experience
Thank you

Keep going and don't give up..it is great project and useful for sawdust...good for industrial, for chicken farms and making compost.
9:56 DIY huh?
But cool vid btw:-)
Edit: wow! I never got an heart from the maker of the vid. Thanks👍
He took the heart back lol
Mantp mas bro...
This is an excellent device especially for making sawdust for manure in the garden!! Sawdust mixed with chicken manure makes a perfect combination for growing citrus fruits.
Thanks
@@DiamleonDiyBuilds Can a 60V brushless DC grinder work?? Thanks
Minunat de bine inventi super bravo.
Looks extremely dangerous , doesn't do what it's supposed to do and is utterly inefficient. Absolutely love it , good build sir.
Keep on grinding!
Very nice innovations .. Long live your hands
Put the emphasis for the branches at the axis level. Will not tighten sticks.
This tool converts very easily into a finger chipper :)
Mantap, cool
NICE !! Please make another video with entire tool turned on its side so switch of angle grinder is on top with a chute added for gravity feed.(like you said) But most importantly add a table elevating the material up from where it sits now or incorporate it into the shute. I'd say probably 1/4 of the way up would still pull material in & down with out possibility of a jam. Now the most difficult part will be how you decrease the cutting area. I suppose you could just have this part of the chute be out of a decent gauge steel and just slot the end so the cutting tips of the blades are actually passing through it so there's a surface for the material to be cut/chipped against. I think ideally though I'd attempt to run it fully through with just a slot cut for each individual blade. I think the width of the slots, the amount of space on either side of the blades will be important to its success and whether it works or not.
I hope to hear more on how you made out and from others experiences or just opinions because I'm planning to make something like this myself soon but probably more for shredding/chipping plastic bottles, well basically all trash that's not food or glass. So I guess basically recyclables minus the glass. But I'm also interested in making something similar but larger for leaves, sticks anything in the yard to accelerate its decaying process into some super compost/growing dirt.
Well done, head with friends. thanks for the idea😁👍
Thank you
Put your shaft through both pillow blocks before you tighten them up so that they ride perfectly together. Just a thought.
And can you show a video on that cool vice you have. That is a fantastic idea. Cool very cool
Cool 😎
LOL, This is perfect for a meat/bone grinder I need to make to feed my dog a raw diet. Mossy Oak 12" grinder supposed to do chicken and bones, doesn't. Got a mig, going to get an Evolution or Diablo metal cutting blade, and already got a couple Harbor Freight grinders. Nice build, and subbed since you aren't wearing flip-flops. I'd suggest toning the music volume down though.
Great work, man. Thanks for the inspiration
Thank you
Muito bom gostei! 🇧🇷
That's a finger eater if I ever saw one 😂. Very cool and original idea. I'm not sure how practical it is, but it's cirtainly very neat. I also want to add that your videos always make everything look so easy, and that's one of the things I enjoy most about them. When I'm in my shop there is always a lot more swearing, measuring mishaps, throwing of tools, ect... Very enjoyable to watch you build your creations, thanks for sharing!
Wonderful job!
I had not thought of using a gang blade set up. Please please look at the rpm rating on the blades! That grinder could be running as high as 13,000 RPM's and the blades maybe only 5,000 RPM's. Put on the guards and have fun!!
Those pillow block bearings are usually only good up to 5000 rpm as well.
No doubt you are a genius person,
But still need to be done some more work for making it pure.
Great work man
Keep it up 🥳🥳🥳👏👏👏
Thank you. Ahmad alli
@@DiamleonDiyBuilds sir i purchase your machine plz call me 9325582782
To avoid dangerous accidents, better to build a vertical shredder. Blades inside a the long tube at the bottom where you can throw the wood to the tube and shred it. You can add an additional iron pusher
That's 11 minutes I'll never get back.
Bão dimais nota 10 👏👏👏👏👏

WHAT LIQUID IS USED?
Awesome, add 1 more machine and become Shredder😃👍
Hi. How do I remove discs for sharpening or replacement?
Experimental? Yes... but hey every machine or idea did start wit an idea or a prototype and then polish the design. Just an idea, in the axle you cut a groove to grab it with a wrench instead the pliers but it's just an idea. After all it's a great idea.👍
Thank you
To good, thank you for your idea l love it
Thank you very much bro
Very good
Interesting design, but I two remarks. The machine would be better if it would be bigger, more heavy. I thin that would make it safer. Second the screws you used to mount the ball baring holders are out reach. If you wold use screws with hexagonal heads, it would be possible to adjust them.

Sir, apart from needing one of these badly to make my own garden mulch, i congratulate you on putting a full weld around that washer on the spindle without even warping it! please teach me your ways! A feat of engineering skill
It would be good to see a feeding system for this so you don’t have to hold it/ protects you from kickback. I guess you can’t ramp up the torque and slow it down as those blades don’t work like that. Creates really fine dust rather than chips. Thanks for sharing! I’m looking for ideas for my own project and this has been a help to see the process and end result! 👍
Thanks dear
Those pillow block bearing are running at about 10x rating.
I would have actually given you a thumbs up but the ads every 10 seconds prevented me from it

Dude -- I have tool envy. ..and I haven't even finished the video.
Seriously dude..if I had access to half those tools..oh man, the creations I would come up with.
Nicely done bro!!..but i wonder how it performs in leaves?
Thank you
Brilliant, nice work. And exactly what I was looking for. If the blade shroud/cover assembly was bolted to the base it would make it easier to maintain. Perhaps add an input chute to help direct the wood & minimise kickback, especially if this was at an angle to the axle. I will make one, and add a collection bin type arrangement. Subbed!
Ok thank you bro
Bravo meister
Now that everything is welded together, how do you change the blades?
I think about that to...
Great minds think alike. I'm building one (prototype) with 15 carbide saw blades to grind up leafs if it works as expected I will bring up the blade count to 50. Hope it turns the leafs to dust making composting easier.🤞
I love the fact that this creates much finer wood chips almost a wee lil bigger than sawdust. If one wants a woodchipper for composting this is the one as the smaller chips will compost a lot faster than the wood chips created by commercial chippers.
I am a professor of mechanical engineering. You are a very good designer. 👍
Ok thanks bro

I am curious how it would handle dry ones with a larger diameter of 8 cm
now if it could just cut those branches to the size of pellets for use in a pellet stove.
Just need to make a compactor to make the pellets.
all you need is to compact those little pieces of wood, but i think they use a kind of glue to make Pellet.
@@allashama no glue or binder needed as the wood binds together from the lignin in the wood that melts in the high pressure and temperature when the wood chips and dust are pressed through the pellet making die.
Imagination is more important than knowledge, greetings from Brazil
Wonderful idea

It seems to me that the cutters might grab the work and pull it in. I think the work entry level should be raised to just below the centre height of the cutters. That way the cutters shouldn't grab a tough piece of wood and pull it underneath themselves. With a raised work table only the chips will go under the cutters an be thrown out the back

Great, have you test it with harder wood? Looks like bambu?
You made a sawdust maker. Cheaper going to a saw mill and sweep the floors. Might even get paid doing it.🤔
