RX SUVs are simply the best. But why does no one mention the TYPE of gas? The RX350 uses regular while the RX450h uses premium fuel. You get 20% better mileage on the hybrid, but pay 20% more for the gas. Plus, in the cold climates like the Northeast, where I live, my CT200h vehicle takes a 20% hit in fuel efficiency for 6 months, mitigating the benefit of the 450h mileage claims. Other than environmental reasons, the financial numbers for the 450h don't make sense vs the RX350 if you live in colder climates. The annoying thing is that the same powertrain is in hybrid Highlander which uses regular fuel, although compression ratios are higher in the 450h forcing you to use premium. Why does Lexus do that?
This comment should be pinned. It's the reason why I went with the regular RX350 over 450H. The battery also adds 600lbs to the car. I fail to see the savings as you're lugging a heavier vehicle on premium fuel. Mileage will be improved sure, but I can also put premium in a 350 and say the same thing lol. Plus the cost to replace the hybrid battery will not be cheap after 10+ years of use. If anything, unless the driving is quite heavy (+15000km/year) I'm also not convinced of the savings in fuel given the additional cost of the battery and upgraded octane requirement. If they said 450H takes regular gas, I would've taken a chance. And although, people will say "premium only recommended, not mandatory" there's a reason why its stated that way-as engineers who built these cars know more than the average consumer.

The facelift is nice, but they're in dire need of a complete re-design, including a new power plant with increased power and efficiency. I'll purchase a new one when they do, but may have to keep my old one. Nice review buddy.

its basically the Toyota highlander, except its smaller, has less tech. But the Lexus has more luxury. Toyota really needs to improve the tech in their Lexus, cuz now the Highlander is the same price as this car.

One of the best reviews of the 450h I’ve seen, kudos! BUT it’s worth mentioning that the 36% better gas mileage in the hybrid comes at the cost of PREMIUM FUEL ONLY which currently costs >40% more than reg 87 octane permissible in the 350.... PLUS, it’s also worth mentioning that the hybrid CV transmission has many more moving parts (incl but not limited to 3 additional electric motors) which could prove much more costly to repair than the more established 350’s 8-speed auto V6 engine. Finally, though I like the aesthetics of the F sport package (largely cosmetic changes), as a 6’1” man at 210lbs, I found the seat bolsters too narrow/tight for my tastes... based on that alone, I did not get the F sport package. This is in contrast to my previous Audi S5 which has large but very comfortable side bolsters. I prefer non F-sport seats which are very comfortable.
If I may add something you forgot to mention about the f sport model is that the f sport RX also includes their adaptive variable suspension similar to the one in the GS and the Avalon touring
Nicely done. I really want to like this vehicle, but just cannot get past the styling, and dated dash design. It will be interesting to see if the new Venza will steal buyers from the RX hybrid.

I'm so confused as to why Americans like Lexus vehicles especially the RX. Nothing about this car is competitive. The infotainment is probably the worst part of it and the use of space is poor. Also, the drive trains are so old. They need a diesel version and a high performance one too.

Would have thought mileage rating for the hybrid would have been considerably better than it is - but at least one doesn’t have to *fold* their a Burger King coupons before stashing them away in the center bin...you guys seem to really enjoy doing this, & do a great job.
I bought one about a week ago. The touch pad actually isnt bad, easy to use and most control are on the steering wheel as well. The clock is stupid and even worse is the exposed CD player. The dealer told me old people buy Lexus and old people still listen to CD's! LOL.

Weird that you said 'heavy' because when I first purchased the 2020 RX 450h I felt it was heavy and thought I made a mistake getting a Lexus this go round. Well I have been able to break away from work to run many errands and really got to drive the truck and I am loving it, like I loved the loaner several years back where I drove it for a 12-hour trip. I feel this truck caters to a more conservative driver, like myself. I test drove the BMW X5 and the Mercedes GLC and looking into the GLE. I have wondered if I should have went with one of those when I see them on the road - they are so beautiful. I guess time will tell...

The main thing that I don’t care for on hybrids is that annoying whining noise when braking with the regenerative brakes. That noise is kind of like nails on a chalkboard for me!😳
The building options on the Lexus website are really nice. I've seen some of these which I think it's the regular 350 that come with heated rear seats. But if I had the money, I would buy the RX 350 series 3 because those would come with wireless charging. Hope both of you have a great Memorial Day weekend!
take into account that the generator may break around 100 000 miles give or take and the expense of that. best stick with traditional gasoline engine but i guess anyone paying 60 grand doesnt care about repairs or may not even be financing it. at least thats how long the generator tends to last in the prius'.
Really? I had a EX300h for about 8 years and only put 60k miles on it, no problems ever but I guess I didn't put enough miles on it. I like the hybrid and it is the reason I got the 450h.
I purchased a RX450h F Sport earlier this year with the red interior and I have to say that I'm disappointed. I also have a 2010 RX450h which has 117,000 and runs perfectly. I find that the new one isn't nearly as efficient as my old one. Additionally, the only change that I've noticed with the F Sport is that once the transmission is in SPORT mode, the throttle is more responsive but the steering is still light and numb. I'm already thinking of trading it in on something else.
I really dig the tail lights and rear turn signals. We have the 2018 RX with the Triple Beams LED and rear vertical LEDs, but I like these better. Unfortunately, Lexus really need to redesign the gawd awful touch pad infotainment, they to need to vastly improve the Dynamic Cruise Control with better LKA, and NO rear Climate Control?? We also have an 2019 Audi A6 to which their version of the Dynamic CC is A LOT better- way smoother automatic acceleration and start/stop in traffic, along 4-zone climate control, and better touch screen infotainment.
Not sure if anyone mentioned here but regarding fuel economy regular RX can take regular gas but hybrid model only take premium gas only. So not sure at the end if it is really worth it to go for hybrid model

Nice vehicles! I had a 2019 RX350 as a loaner recently while my 2017 IS200t F-Sport was in for maintenance at the dealer. Very comfy & quiet.

Their hybrid battery is under warranty for 10 years or 150k miles if you're buying this new, chances are you will never hit either.

I really dig the tail lights and rear turn signals. We have the 2018 RX with the Triple Beams LED and rear vertical LEDs, but I like these better. Unfortunately, Lexus really need to redesign the gawd awful touch pad infotainment, they to need to vastly improve the Dynamic Cruise Control with better LKA, and NO rear Climate Control?? We also have an 2019 Audi A6 to which their version of the Dynamic CC is A LOT better- way smoother automatic acceleration and start/stop in traffic, along 4-zone climate control, and better touch screen infotainment.

Not sure if anyone mentioned here but regarding fuel economy regular RX can take regular gas but hybrid model only take premium gas only. So not sure at the end if it is really worth it to go for hybrid model
