Hi Jimmy, an excellent review. A lot of people question "why?" the touch control for navigation. Here is why. In Japan, driving Lexus is the symbol of Adulthood with intelligence and sophistication. So, most people who drive Lexus are 40 yrs old to up. Then, those generations prefer a clean display rather than a lot of fingerprints and dirt. It's a matter of intelligence and sophistication. So, you can't compare to other car companies with just a cost and look. Toyota is looking at a different place which is about quality of life. Many UA-camrs don't know about this.

@@JimmyMak The price is also different in Japan. More expensive than Western countries. So, it's a little bit higher price for the younger generation.

My 2022 RX450h with luxury package has rear sunshades. The cruise control is pure genius, because I never have to look at what button I'm pressing. It's second nature after you activate it for the 2nd time. The fact that Toyota had this same cruise control on virtually all of their Toyota and Lexus models is great because our family owns 3 Lexus and 2 Toyota vehicles and none of us ever has to think about how to use cruise control. I know that Lexus is switching all new models to steering wheel buttons cruise control. I haven't tried it yet, but the "old" stalk is absolutely genuinely perfect.

I had a 2017 RX350 and it was in an accident, loved that vehicle. Went and got the 2021 Lexus RX450 h. Wish I didnt buy it due to the high theft on these vehicles my insurance cost was very high. $5000 per year clean driving record, I did shop around for cheaper insurance but it want that much cheaper. My parent's just bought me a fully-loaded $75,250 USD (including taxes) RX 450 HL V6 Hybrid for a first car because we wanted me to be in a safe reliable and comfortable cross-over so that I'm not stranded on the side of the highway like in our 4 previously fully-loaded $105,000 USD Mercedes GLE 580 4Matic SUVs, we are replacing all of our GLS SUVs with 4 of the same model that I have the RX 450 HL V6 Hybrid all of them will be fully-loaded and ordered on Lexus's website. NOTE: we've also previously owned five 2015 RX 350 F-Sport's up until 2018 then we bought the 4 GLE 4Matic SUVs and now we are replacing the fleet with 2021 Lexus's again. 2nd NOTE: we don't ever lease any of our SUVs we only purchase them upfront with a check for each SUV we buy.

I paid little under $65k for my 2022 RX450h luxury with virtually every option except for the power folding/heated rear seats...however...with taxes, extra accessories and extended warranty package it stopped at a tad over $71k. If you add power rear seats and maybe some other extra care packages that I refused, it's possible for it to be fairly close to $75k. Not saying I believe OP entire post, but technically it is possible to load RX450h up to $75k if every option, accessory and extra warranties are there.

I love the Lexus RX design regardless if it’s a 350 or a 450… Best advice I can give anyone that knows nothing about vehicles… Get the traditional engine, and don’t get the hybrid. If you want to resell the vehicle in the future, the classic V6 engine Is the way to go. Hybrids lose value over time.

    • @JimmyMak

Here in Vancouver, that’s quite different. A 2010 RX450h is fetching a premium over the 350 counterparts.

RX450 takes premium fuel while RX350 takes regular. Factor in the premium fuel cost versus cheaper regular fuel price, it is almost a wash. It just does not makes no sense to pay extra for the hybrid model. Where is the incentive? Reliability yes, but where is the efficiency you are talking about when you pay premium at the pump?

    • @chitpaul

If you do a lot of stop start or urban driving, and if you stick to below the highway limit it’s good,. Have to make maximum use of the electric drive, especially at low speeds, in traffic, car parks,

Factor in the environmental impact. Then it would make more sense to go with the hybrid.

I had a RX450h. Meh. It was slow, very slow. MPG wasn't all that good for a hybrid. I averaged 29 MPG combined. Seats on the F-Sport were very hard, so they were not good for long road trips. Apple CarPlay was a Godsend for one of the worst infotainment system in the car business. Sure, it was reliable, but at $63K+, we deserve better. I sold it and got a Tesla. Never going back to Lexus again. This is coming from a loyal Lexus customer for over 20 years. I have had over 6 Lexuses during that time.

you should compare similar vehicles. What was your previous lexus? The question to ask is how does it compare to the 350v6? With Tesla you are not getting long term reliability. People that buy a lexus want luxury fit/finish and reliability. We already know that other euros perform better at a much higher cost as well, but after 5 years if that, they might be piles of trash or burning a huge hole in your pocket.

    • @korswe

@@josefernandez2722 I had a RX 450h F-Sport and a RX 350 F-Sport. Both had V6’s with the 450h having the Atkinson-cycle V-6. I’m not denying that Lexus makes reliable cars as they have reached the pinnacle of reliability for ICE cars sort of like T-Rex became the apex predator of the dinosaur age. Metaphorically, the Lexus infotainment center feels Jurassic even with the Apple CarPlay being available only after we complained about Lexus not having it for years.
From my ownership experience of Lexuses, they have not been without problems. I actually had to lemon-buyback one Lexus awhile ago. I kept drinking the Lexus Kool-Aid for decades. Tesla is not everything. It’s not a luxury brand. It’s a tech brand that happens to make cars. I bought my Model S with FSD after doing some research on its reliability. Teslaloop has done millions of miles on its fleet of Model S’s that ferry people to and from Los Angeles and they have not reported major things. I have had to have mobile technicians come out to my house to replace the HEPA filter and rotate my tires. I need to get one of my speakers replaced under warranty. That’s been the extent of my service needs for the past 4 years. Check out this clip on the new Model S Plaid that I’ll be upgrading to soon. It’s insane: ua-cam.com/video/_Vlk1V5T5-E/v-deo.html
