It really helps to have an urban sketching group that meet on a regular basis. I created a Thursday group and we love sketching together and then having lunch. Great time! Also we set up meet ups here in San Francisco almost every Sat and Sunday. Meeting with a bunch of other urban sketchers is a wonderful inspiration..

Hi Koosje I have ordered your book, because I like to support other artist and I am sure I will find it very interesting. Just to let you know I sketch your face from the tube videos. You give such lovely animated expressions, full of vitality and joy. I play the video find and freeze the best shots. Then by using my mini iPad taking the still shots from my large iPad. The images are great to sketch from, and of course great practice as I work from the many expressive faces captured. It’s fun and will fill a sketchbook. Thank you for being such a great model.

muscle memory is important with art, as long as people dont stress and trust their brain, their hands usually know what to do 😀

My sketch book goes everywhere I go at least 95% of the time. I try, but I’m not always successful, to sketch at least once a day. For me it is the only way to go. It beats a camera most every time. I like the shoes idea. I like the fact you are using a nib pen as opposed to felt tip pens or even a fountain pen. Many years ago that is what I started with. I still have most of the staffs and nibs. Enjoy your vacation. Your fans will wait for your return.

Love the book! I’ve started drawing again - in a little travel sketchbook. I carry it with me all the time now. Thank you for the inspiration 😀

In my experience, if I have been absent from a creative skill, there is always a bit of rust. But once I work through that rust I return to that creative skill even better than when I left it. I think as long as it stays close to my heart, it is still being worked on in some way. Getting through the rust never feels good but it is worth it and doesn't take long.

Watch some of the videos on this channel, perhaps. And find beginners tips on UA-cam. But most of all: draw. Draw whatever seems fun to you and draw a lot. Draw draw draw. Find instruction videos when you don’t know how to tackle a certain topic or subject. Then try different approaches. You learn by doing.
