Great video makes me think of many moons ago when me and buddies fished them same spots I used to live in Pascagoula now living in iowa you make me think of the good ole days thank you sir
That was one awesome black drum I do believe that's the biggest drum I've ever seen caught on video. Great catch keep them coming. Thanks for sharing stay safe
When I lived in Florida I would fish for the sheepshead around the bridges using fiddler crabs or shrimp. Early and late fall was best time to catch the biggest size. I would use the heads from the shrimp as chum to get them to start really biting. I went to a different style hook which improved my hook ups. One thing about sheepshead you got to stay focused on them to catch them because they hit fast.
@@MississippiSalt Looks like your out by Ingles possibly. Somewhere in that area. At first I was thinking Bernard Bayou out by Trinity yachts. I use to work there and we had one of those big yellow boat lifts out there. Big enough to lift 300' boats.
The mother of all Black Drums 💪🏻 Awesome underwater footages. This is gonna be your 2021 video with the most views. I’ve been to Chevron twice with no luck. That’s spot is on fire 🔥
That spot has paid off nicely for two weeks in a row. I’m really having fun with this underwater footage. Constantly trying to find ways to make it better!
@@MississippiSalt an idea 💡 attached the camera to the Kayak and that way you will always have the shot of the area you are dropping off the bait 🤷🏻♂️
I'm coming down Saturday morning. I'm gonna have to do some pier fishing and wading in the surf. Was looking at some aerial views and it looks like that beach park pier in Pascagoula may have a man made reef in front of it all the way out at the end of it. Do you know if that's the case?
@@MississippiSalt Ok I pulled up coordinates for all 73 man made reefs on the coast and there is one at Front Beach that looks like the one I'm talking about and there is one at Pascagoula Municipal Pier. I'm really wanting to catch some fish this weekend so I'm making my best plan of attack now since I'm limited to where I can go.
I just found your page. I’m from Gulfport. Novice fisher here, would learn to love more. I see you’re by ingalls here. I don’t have a kayak with pedals but I really want to catch some reds and trout in my kayak or canoe. Any pointers?
i figured you were in pascagoula i recognize the cranes at the shipyards. is that Ingalls? or Signal? I used to work at Ingalls back in 2009 when it was owned by Northrop Grumman
I filled the pvc with Great Stuff foam so if it were to detach in any way, it will float to the top. I spent the entire night before this trip thinking of every possible way to NOT lose it! 🤣
I could but I’m trying to limit scaring the fish away from the camera as much as possible. I think a pool noodle would be to big and obvious. I ended up with over 1 hr worth of underwater footage and the bulk of it shows that the sheepshead knew it was there and they were curious about it. I had bo problems getting bites on the bottom. But I only had a couple of bites in view of the camera. Even though they were swimming all around my camera.
Awesome video! Quick question, as the weather gets colder do you find it better to fish out front near port of Gulfport or bay saint Louis behind hard rock or back bay of Biloxi. Not targeting anything specific I’m just new to kayak fishing
I’ll be honest with you I’m not the best at fishing winter time conditions around here. Still learning myself! Most of my fishing is done around ocean springs in Pascagoula. A lot of the fish that stick around in the winter tend too pushed back up into the bays looking for deeper warmer water. Sheepshead handle colder water much better than our other local fish.
Ive tried using jig heads on the ICW near Matanzas Inlet but the current is too strong unless its slack tide. Didn't look like the water was moving much up your way
I used to kayak in a small lake in Tallahassee Florida that was filled with gators. Made me pretty nervous the first few times but luckily never had any issues!
@@MississippiSalt I've tried a many different ingredients. But as for the base ingredients I do equal parts of mayonnaise and whipped cream cheese, roughly 1/2cup of each for 1/2pd of fish, 1 tablespoon or preference of fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 decent sized yellow onion, 1 tablespoon dijon mustard, couple teaspoons of horseradish, hot sauce to liking, dill relish to liking, 1/2 teaspoon worcestershire, parsley, pepper and old bay. Mainly the mayonnaise, cream cheese, onion and old bay are the base after that most anything you like that fits works well. I'm from Georgia we love our smoked fish dip but sheephead is the best! Rub the fish down with a little salt and cane sugar and let it sit rubbed over night in the fridge. I prefer pecan wood when smoking fish.
Can’t lip them with a mouth full of teeth and their top dorsal fins are sharp and tough. Idk, just my preferred method to hold them while in a kayak. 🤷♂️

Tight lines man!
What size hook you using? I can never catch sheepshead. I use a 2/0 circle hook. What size you use?
I steer clear of circle hooks in general when fishing for sheeps. If I’m not using a jig head, I’ll use a size one hook.

Appreciate it! Just subbed back!
What do you used for bait to catch sheepshead
I start off with live shrimp to help locate the sheepshead. Once I find them, I’ll typically just use pieces of shrimp.
