Final boss theme from DKC1 in pristine studio quality. This was made possible by locating the sounds from workstation keyboards and drum machines such as the Korg Wavestation, Roland S770, and Roland R8, and plugging them into the music instruction data ripped from the game, plus a little mixing magic to create might have sounded like with the veil of 16bit compression lifted. Part of a project to restore the entire DKC series soundtrack. Follow me on Twitter for more updates: / princesamlet

Since then I never put down the controller when any credits appear on any game.

It's been 26 years and I still don't trust video game end credits either.
LOL. I think you're fine bro. I don't think there are any other games that pranks you like this.
@@TheT040484 If I recall correctly, Undertale had one.
Top Ten Anime Betrayals
Man this was probably the first time a boss battle ever blew me away like this. The music & just how hard he was, and then that damn credit fakeout. Never ever seen that done in a game until this one. What a final boss fight! Truly iconic.
Cuphead did a really nice reference to the fake credits. And I'd like to think Nier Automata also learned something about end credits becoming a battle from Rare.
The fakeout got me as a kid i left at the credits and came back to DK at the level select screen lol i was so fucking confused
The good old Rare. THESE were the times :////.
@@CommieApe Credits also got me, I put my controller down and screamed at the game to wait while I tried to pick it back up. Lost Diddy and had to do the next part with only DK. Couldn't trust the end credits for any of the Rare games after that one...
Yes indeed. Was completely awesome
(patiently waits for the stereo drum effect)

Awww yeah, there it is!
Gotta love rototoms 😎
one of Dave Wise's main instruments is drums and it really shows sometimes, his work always has this excellent sense of rhythm
*thump. thump thump thump thump THUMPTHUMPTHUMPTHUMPTHUMP*
“Ohhhh yeah that’s the spot”
It goes from sea shanties to KISS lmfao I love this shit
The guitars sound even better here than the last one
Agreed somehow
Nah the last guitars sound better than this one
@@pawprint1894 Disagreed
@@godzpeedx7ii75okay we get it you don't agree
This is a huge improvement from the original restoration
1:55 a primeira trollada a gente nunca esquece
Desde então nunca larguei o controle em todo os créditos q passava
This song always reminds me of my mom because she played this game a lot and i would laugh at her when she lost 😂 rip mom, miss you forever.
this song always made me think of Iron Maiden's "Hallowed be thy Name"...
i hear what you mean
the drums and and the bass chords are very similar
could be inspired
@@AizaBreathe i occasionally sing the Maiden lyrics while im fighting K.Rool (or at least when his song comes on, in Smash lol)...but yeah, apparently David Wise has admitted to Phil Collins' "In the Air Tonight" being a major influence on DKC2's Bayou Boogie, so he isnt afraid to drop some of his favorite songs into the OSTs...im pretty sure he likes "Hallowed..." as well xD
I never realised this until I read your comment.
Now I will never be able to unhear it! haha
How have I never made this connection before?
in one interview he says that the song is heavely inspired by Iron Maiden. I dont know if it was a cd or a Concert. But its online here on UA-cam and was about his work on DKCR Tropical Freeze
I would like a remaster for this game with the real graphics of Sylicon Graphics.
yes! thank you! this is all I've wanted. not a remake, but a remaster with the very same high resolution graphics they used on all the art. even as a kid I dreamed for that.
Yeah remake the game and give us the original uncompressed CG renders made back in the day for the game, before they were compressed down to fit in the limited space of the cartridge. That would be ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
@@1chiTheKiller EXACTLY. when I was a kid I was fascinated with how programming functioned, and nowadays with the technology able to handle it, there's very little to keep it from finally happening.
@@JoshLightWork well, your wish may come true at some point, Not a remake of DKC with those graphics
but a new game coming out, that will have graphics that are either made the same, or similer to that of ones made from SGI and Power Animator (:
@@leobaker-tf2andmusic520 But sadly it will never be the same developers since they don't own Donkey Kong Country license anymore
Best Super Nintendo boss music ever 🖤 Long live King K. Rool
"AUGH" - King K. Rool
This is how One piece's villain music fights should sound like:
One word:
*Goosebumps*
but holy shit tho 1:15 hits harder than a car on sport mode going at its full speed limit
This makes an already badass final boss theme even more badass
I just bought the first vinyl and pre-ordered the other two. Having these soundtracks pressed is a dream come true, thank you so much for doing all this work to preserve the soundtracks. DKC has a very special place in my heart, and it's soundtrack is one of my favorite of all time. Your work in restoring the tracks is beautiful and really takes me back to when I was a kid and played this with my dad. These vinyls will be front and center in my collection, and will probably always be my favorites.
This sounds as clear and epic as it does in my childhood memories. Thank you for taking the time to remaster such a great piece of gaming music.
This will always be the definition of Boss Music to me. Thank you for the time you put into this and all your other DKC restorations.
I remember when i got siked by the fake credits as a kid lol
What I love about this boss and song is that the boss himself is so rhythmic and timing based that the changes in pace in the song match changes in pace in the battle if you are fighting it correctly
Can't help but tear up... so much nostalgia. I love Donkey Kong Country so much, man.
Oh yeah, my definite favorite Sam. Fantastic work!
1:15 lmao wasn't ready for that but it's the same image I always have in my own head 🤣
The way it goes from cheery to rock... is just... GODLY.
Oh my, this is amazing. That drum was a nicely surprise.
Big papa do all the work, little dude gets all the rewards 🤣 great re-restoration man, keep the hard work
The part where the video changed perfectly captures me as a guitar player since I was a teen and a VG nerd since I was a kid.
What’s the band called that’s playing
ok, this is objectively the better sounding version, and i love it. the nostalgic child inside however still loves the original sound from the console even though its technically worse. Although idk, i kinda like how the guitar synth in the original is a little sharper. what the hell do i know im the farthest thing from an audiophile. im just glad people are keeping these masterpieces alive. great job here man. i will be adding all of your DCK 1, 2, and 3 remasters to my playlist.
I like it. Not gonna lie i love both versions, this one and your old one. They're both unique. : )
Sounds even better than your last version. Great job!
Wow its amazing to hear this in the original sound quality before it all got lost when sampled down for 16 bit. This sounds so amazing in this quality!
Man, you did a great job! Totally rocks!
Sounds great!!
Cannot wait for my vinyl copy!
Awesome restauration! Thank you so much!!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFF Its so goddamn sick! Well done!!
Thank you, my ears can listen to greatness now
Incredible work, thank you!
I love this 25 second build up, and then it goes full epic
Thank you for all your videos
Sounds wicked bro!
The world shall not forget about this absolute *BANGER*
Never clicked something so fast in my life. Congrats!
I'll admit, I get kind of a good chuckle out of how you brought a band into the fast part of the song because it goes with the tune in a comical way of it's own.
Great job Sam
In love with your channel. May birthday is 28 nov, my wish is to hear Life in the Mines with your amazing job!
happy birthday
Also, very interesting to hear these versions. Thanks for putting work into restoring them. For this song, I actually think the SNES version has better electric guitars (for the main melody), for several others though, I really enjoy listening to both versions.
1:14 when you realize that Dixie is playing this song on her guitar.
I like this idea
Anyone who's played this game will forever remember this cool beat & song.
had to re-watch this video because the song was on my mind-- didnt realize til now though, that you actually "finish" the song (compared to just looping it until fade-out)...so satisfying, because it actually gets "the song stuck in my head" OUT, and keeps it Out lol...but again, with the Iron Maiden comparisons, i wouldve gone with the "Two-Fours" method (hard to explain through text, but its that "dun-dun-dun-dah, dun-dun-dun-DAH!!") that Maiden usually ends songs with...if "Hallowed..." doesnt use it, im sure "Aces High" does...
Amazing!
1:15 old footage of rareware employees composing gangplank galleon (1994)
Masterpiece
Best boss music ever? Might be!
Sounds great
esto es sencillamente increible, gracias de verdad.
Never thought that a fight between some monkeys and a obesse cocodrile could sound so epic
Band geek here. The composition is based on old English sea chanties.
Sounds like an iron maiden song. :)
Love the scanlines
Still an absolute banger!
Memories 🌠🌠
I get sweaty palms just looking at the footage..
this is the reason why you dont need to take a break and do nothing when credits pop up
He restored it not once, BUT TWICE!!!
Oh yeah, that snare drum is bad ass, as it should be!
Fantastic!!
THis is beautifull.
The theme to listen to while setting up an Atari 5200 on an old 1983 Emerson Dial-Control Simulated TV.
i never noticed how the music matches up with the visuals

Re-uploaded? Keep up the restorations man!
More of an updated version
The drums sound and feel nicely saturated as in Amiga games
Awesome!
The GOAT.
0:00 Huh, doesn’t sound intimidating at all. 😕
0:22 Whoa, what’s going? 😟
0:30 Holy shit! 😳
Now THIS is a boss fight!
La mejor de todas ❤❤❤
Theme Rock n' rool love its music
Still one of my favorite boss themes and villains.
1:16 hits me harder than a car at 140 miles per hour with sport mode on
Best Boss Music
1:15 i simply love The thing you did there
Aw yeah its kroc o clock
1:22, 1:30 There's something weird with the guitar sound when it changes from one note to the next one. Like a really short high pitch sound. Maybe a consequence of not making the guitar gradually fade out?
The ticking?
I think the sound you hear is the bass drum. If you turn your focus to the drums right after that part you mention, you’ll hear the same sound. But I agree that it sounds off during the guitar part.
I can hear the little guitar tick. the guitar plays for a very brief second before getting cut-off for the fade-in at 1:30. I can't quite hear the other one, though.
I'm pretty sure it's in the snes version
I listened to both and they're the same. It's the kick drum after the note.
I Love this song
1:41 goddammit Rare
When your King K. Rool Amiibo comes in the mail
Man, I remember as a kid back in elementary school I drew up all the levels of a video game which had all the same mechanics of DKC but cast you as an ant invading a rival colony, from the surface to food storage to the pupae, larva, and egg chambers, and ultimately facing off against the queen. It was basically this exact boss fight except she was flying around shooting eggs at you instead of cannonballs.
this could be a very interesting idea for a mod
I'm gonna make an insane remix! Already crushed Jib Jig!
Wow this fucking goes
GameXplain: I was wondering if you’re familiar with [the D.K.C. restoration project].
David Wise: I’m familiar with it. And it’s a bit of a misnomer, to be completely honest, because the whole palette was short little waves that we were taking. And because of the way the Super N.E.S. resynthesizes or upgrades from a 4-bit to a 16-bit sample, it’s got a certain warmth and a certain kind of sound to it. And having got those samples in that format, that’s what I worked with. That was my palette to work with all the time. So there never was and never did exist any better samples. I just took samples that I could use and then wrote with the samples and that palette, so it’s a - you know, I understand where they’re coming from, but there never was a higher-quality sample that it came from. That was the sample, and that’s as high as it ever got and would ever get.
ua-cam.com/video/HcOq1p40TNI/v-deo.html
still love it!!!
awesome
0:28 In all my life I have never understood how this salvo of drums even works.
Lmao, got me so excited when I was little
Dude got hit by k rool in the same spot I did. The last round ALWAYS screwed over my no-hit run.
I just noticed that the games continue some time after the previous such as.
DKC1 completing the game on beating the King k. Rool and after some time DKC2 continues the story with Donkey kong not there.
Im sorry about my grammar.
Ayeeee 🔥
That double bass pedal tho
Nice!! XD
I honestly kinda like the original better, but this still sounds awesome!
