J'ai fait son reportage de mariage à Monaco car il venait souvent au conservatoire de jazz à la MJC d'alors jouer avec ROGER GROSGEAN. depuis des décennies ont passées sous le pont des ans..........Musicalement Gigi.
vova47 I agree with you, not a big fan of his sound at this concert. But listen to "la note bleue" and "french ballads", both incredible albums he realised just 3 years before, in 1987...
Liked his sound in the late fifties better. He has a vibrato now. I wonder if it has to do with his horn. Its very bright now not that old deep selmer or conn sound. Too bad.

Barney Wilen was a good tenor player in the fifties. Here his sound and approach has dramatically changed and not for the better. Regrettable.....

The whole sound is heavily compressed on this video, which doesn't pay respect to the dynamics and textures of the players, unfortunately.
