Ant your hoverless 'run' made me want to start speedrunning Mario Sunshine, and through that I started to like speedrunning more and more. I eventually burnt out on Sunshine and moved over to Battle for Bikini Bottom where I now have a top 50 time on the any% leaderboard. Thank you for this journey.

Eat Onion - Any% implies that you don't need to eat the whole onion.
No, Any% implies you can do whatever you want to make it faster or easier, such as preparing drinks or a sauce or cooking it.

@@lewlabelle the funny thing is how little odyssey speedruns are about bugs and stuff compared to other games. Like all the strats are generally just either intended mechanics or slightly altering intended things

Entruh It depends on how it’s stored internally.
As someone with zero modding experience, but a decent bit of general coding experience, I would expect that there would either be one script for getting a random encounter, which takes some identifier for the area and returns an id number for a pokemon, or all of the encounter tables would be stored in one array-like data structure, or both. In the first case, all it should take is writing some function which “inverts” the area id, and in the second you would just have to reverse the array structure.
In any case, as long as they abide by software design best practices, which say that you should try to avoid writing things in a bunch of different places when you could just write it once, it shouldn’t be all too bad.
Smoked Bear with the minimal experience with gen 6+ randomizers I have, all you have to do is change the encounter tables. It’s not that complicated of a mod.

I discovered something about boat mechanics when I played Sunshine. Moving backwards or forwards is intuitive-all you have to do is spray in the opposite way to propel yourself. However, moving right and left I noticed that I always went in the direction that I was spraying for a quite a while before it evened out. In other words, when on a boat and you want to turn spray in the direction you want to go, not in the opposite direction like how it would work in real life.

How much you wanna bet Nintendo "fixed" all the glitches that make these runs fun in the new package?
He could just do the 3D Mario challenge, IDK if it's a thing in mario games but it's definitely got a leaderboard on 3D Zelda games. But it would also need to include Galaxy 2 on the Wii, 3D Land on the 3DS and 3D World on the WiiU and the 3 in that game

It’s basically « Guide on How to learn a speedrun » and it’s beautiful
40:20 you can pull back the stick to make Mario hover backwards, the only way to do what you're trying, also on the Yoshi secret when you dove and jumped for the shine and fell down if you pulled back on the C stick while jumping from a dive, it makes it so mario loses all of his forward momentum and just jumps in place out of his dive, I hope you remember this whe you so any% 3D Allstars

Fun fact: during my first play through of this game on the Switch, I accidentally did Mole Skip. I had no idea what to do, got mad, and yeeted myself inside. Didn’t even know it was a glitch until I looked it up.
To be fair I learned the entire odyssey run in two days
