I love how all these drywall videos are done on lines that are hip level… I just finished doing tight closet inside corners standing on a ladder… show some of that…

Just perfil your joints if they’re too much uneven then you will have a solid flat tape. That is what I do with my butjoints

That looks to be a second coat on top of the 1st coat that isn't dry all the way yet. None the less excellent work

1st coat of topping. The coat you’re thinking is the first is the joint compound

@@vancejensen3844You dont know what you're talking about. Ray has a little more understanding. If you use regular mud, if you dont let the first tape coat fully dry, you can get bubbles.

Not to be a negative person...it does look good... I was just taught another way of doing this...been at it for 24 yrs and never used those types of knives... I use an 8 on my bead...10 on flats and butt joints and skim with 12...i also use either my bazooka or banjo for taping..that looks hand taped...i can tell from the mud on the side of the tape...looks good bro...no wrong way to do it if it looks good 👍

The 14" finishing trowel and a hawk are the only tools you need to finish a house. That being said, I still use Banjos, Boxes, and corner tools. And a 12" curved trowel that I use for my 1st coat in lieu of boxes for small jobs, and a 16" that I use for them big butts. But I stand by the fact that you could finish an entire house with one hawk and one trowel if you needed too

We used to use a 7" box for first coat. I've seen people put first coat on with a 6" successfully! What do you use for second coat? I use a 12" sometimes i go 14" if the sheetrock is not good.

6' for tape coat, 8, then 10 or 12 on the 3rd coat. I just don't find using bigger knives really matters because of shrinkage unless the joints are warped.

I use all union tools as a custom drywall sub contractor. You get 5 days to finish a house tape to sand, and none of the tools in this video used are specialized for drywall. Their actually more or so concrete and roofing tools put together. This is not what a real job looks like. No expertise is involved. I was doing hand work second week in

Flat Joints can be finished just like this without having to go over it one more time. Outside Corners and Butt Joints need atleast 1 more coat in my experience. Inside corners only need 1 coating coat to be done if you are good as well.
