That is a typical New York apartment and the shenanigans are as real as my remembrances of exactly such evenings in my tiny Manhatten apartment on a fourth floor walkup!
Only a handful of genius comedians manage to keep things funny for 50 years. At 12:28 he snagges the guys hanky and clean his fingers and throws the hanky back onto his dish. so funny.
Glad you enjoyed it--some great physical comedy. And when Sid and Imogene Coca did the Hickenlooper sketches on Your Show of Shows (which in many ways were the prototype of the Commuter sketches on Caesar's Hour), they were *earlier* than The Honeymooners as well--it was the first domestic sitcom in revue format on TV. --kjh
Careful!!! The Honeymooners did some hilarious stuff! It was only on one season. You are watching the best of Caesar...some of his sketches died!! And the ratings went down....and he was cancelled... Gleason never got cancelled...he only did one season because he felt that they had best stop while they were ahead so to speak...they did 39 live shows in one season!! It's almost impossible to keep that up ......Your Show of Shows was a much larger production. Had more writers... The writers going their own ways to greatness is what killed that show!! But Sid Caesar and company were some of the funniest of all time!! And Caesar himself had serious problems of course...
Great sketch, and great channel too! This reminds me of a student corridor, we were three gals sharing a one-person kitchen. We had to fold one chair and move the minimalistic table in order to close the door. And the fridge was a real jigsaw, I tell you. But it sure was cozy!
So help me God, I very nearly live in that apartment...with a teenager. There's no room in the freezer for ice trays, though. Had to special order the fridge that size. SMH. The kitchen stool/step-ladder, though...we have a good one, but no room for it!
Is this supposed to be a flashback? The Victors obviously already lived in "the country" (or at least suburbia) in the previous "Commuters" sketches -- which is why the three men commuted together by railroad to their jobs in the city.

And that is certainly a Manhattan kitchen! The physical comedy of this is superb. ---kjh
My aunt's kitchen was in a closet, just a stove and sink.@@sidcaesaryourshowofshowsca2250
These have not aged a day. The writing is razor sharp
Great skit! Sid was great as usual, but Nanette Fabray was outstanding! Underrated.
Pure Gold!
Best sitcom ever
So true to life. And, obviously, the wall hid a Murphy Bed.
Thanks for posting these videos! It's like time travel for us young people.

This is absolutely hilarious!
"Night at the Opera" is similar with stateroom scene...
Could not stop laughing
I have not gut laughed like this, since, I watched the other ones. It drifts right into real life, that needs all the help it can get, thanks!
My favorite part is the man-eating closet! Glad you enjoyed it. --kjh
Thank you for your sense of humor!
Funnier than "The Honeymooners"

This is $3000/mo in the west coast and the landlords would call the size "bohemian".
Reminds me of my place, so depressingly real.
Let me guess: you live in New York, too? We've all been in kitchens like that :) ! ---kjh
They were brilliant at physical comedy.
I lived in 2 apartments with Kitchens that small.
Reminds me of dorm parties.
Lol, my studio's looking bigger all the time.
haha. "just mail them to us."
Still funny and still true

This could be a real N.Y.C. apartment.

The skits stand by themselves...no chronological order..... always different characters....
NYC apartment and NYC parking problem still there.
is that Dave (the neighbor) Sid's brother?
It looks like him, doesn't it? I know that Dave occasionally appeared in sketches.
Nothing comes close. Not nothing nowadays anyway.
