Just picked one up. Beauty. For the price no brainer.
How are you liking it? Considering getting one myself
Got a 37mm Mido Commander. Excellent quality control, ETA movement, looks great.
I have the Mido Ocean Star Diver 600 and love it. Saw the Tribute watch in store… bracelet is so nice. Probably my next purchase.
I love Mido watches, the tribute it’s a beautiful watch and I agree with you if they offer a brushed option one it’s going to sell much more! I got the Ocean Star GMT and it’s one of my favorite in my collection! Huge fan of the the channel, greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
I love the design of this diver. Can be dressed up but also dressed down.
I’m a Mido fan, I’ve got the 38mm Multifort and the Ocean Star 200 42mm. Something about the way they bevel the underside of the case and bracelet make it very comfortable.
Considered getting one of these at a few points but went another route. Excellent value for money with this one
Oh, to have true hi beat ETA movements again. PowerMatic 80 : Castrated (3, not 4 hertz movements) that CAN NOT BE SERVICED @ any kind of decent price. Got to send Swatch Group watches back to Europe if you have no local service centers (good luck). You do superb vids Chris. Very seldom do I disagree with you but you must also know they use plastic components with a business/service model that just replaces cheap modules rather than any of that fancy Watch Maker stuff. Nope, I have a Khaki Automatic with the H-10 (slow ETA 2824-2) and I love it. But Sellita will be getting my future business. Some of us love the hobby, have our watches in rotation, & seldom if ever need 80 hours of reserve. I gave MIDO a hard look till the 3 hrtz. thing. Thanks!
Wasn't aware of the plastic biz but agree on the pm80 v 4htz, i'm not a fan plus don't require 80hrs of pr , the way i see it is if yr wearing it job done till the next.
Totally!
Super cool, especially for the price. My father is going to receive one this Christmas.
Beautiful watch. Mido is more and more in my focus. Thanks Chris.
This is an absolutely beautiful watch Chris. I hadn't considered adding any dive watches to my collection, as I prefer dressier pieces, but this is pushing me to get this piece. That bracelet really is a stunner, and I feel like it can be dressed up or down. Awesome video!
I have it, and it's absolutely stunning
Great review, thanks again, Chris. As usual very informative and well done and all about the watch And what a watch. The MIDO looks great, I've always been a fan. I would consider one of those.
I purchased mine last night and I cannot stop looking at it ! What a beautiful piece 👌🏻
Still liking it?
I’m in love. What a stunner!
Mido has been coming out with some great watches. I bought the ocean star gmt 44mm and just like you would prefer it to be 40 or 42mm. Nice diver offering here but won’t get it since I already have the gmt.
Very nice watch, the bracelet is the show master. I prefer more brushing on a watch, but the polished parts suits this watch very well👍🏆🥳😁
Mi first Mido was a Mido Multifort patrimony with the black dial. Then I bought the ocean star gmt with the black dial, I sold it, I regret it so much… then I bought the ocean star 600m diver in black and the tribute in blue. All of them, are just oh so sweet and nice.
But I’ll agree with you, if they came up with a gmt but only a bit smaller ( the 600m is 1 mm smaller ) it would be just perfect. In fact, it hey had that gmt in a 41 mm size with a glossy dial just like on the 600m diver I thing it would be better than almost any other gmt diver out there, specially for the money.
I like it. Would likely buy one in the 700 range. Another one I think would stack up to that one would be the caption hook
This watch is next on my list is a great piece I think it will hold value since is a special edition and maybe I can give to my little ones when they get bigger
I bought one a year ago and it is a great watch. I prefer it over my other watches: the bracelet is one of the best out there, the power reserve makes it a usable daily if wanted. The weight and looks in my opinion are near perfect, of course depending on taste. It is also beautiful but not too much in your face. Its an excellent watch at this price.
Still liking it?
I think the Certina PS 200M reissue with the red hand would be perfect if it had this strap and Sapphire crystal, but I also really like this watch and will add it to my collection when im able
My father was into Mido for well over 20 years. I am sure that he would have loved this one. As for me, I like bigger watches. I am definitely going to check out the GMT. Did you do a review on it?
Really cool watch. I think i want one now.
I have this watch and love it I would really like to get the blue one as well
The bracelet and clasp is so shiny ! Gonna look terrible when scratches appear in no time.
Hi Chris,
I’m on need of this type of watch. Need might be a strong word… hehehe. I’m keen on the Rado Caption Cook as I love that bracelet. This bracelet looks to be comfy. Shiny but…
Beautiful watch and bracelet 👍
Thanks Chris 👍
Great watch. My top vintage - ph200m / Swatch/ Certina/
Great video! I love Mido products.. The only issue with the Triibute is that it is a printed dial. For me, the ocean star with its applied indices is the way to go. It also has better lume. The Mido bracelets are the best there is at that price point.
Applied indices are completely wrong for a heavily vintage inspired diver.
Great purchase ticks all the boxes for me. One to consider in the future I think.
Yes I am also going to consider this in the future
Dear Chris, Very nice overall Diver/Dress watch with Day Date, Powermatic 80, signed screw down crown, 200 Meteres WR, however; a ceramic bezel, brushed box and partially brushed bracelet will eliminate the extra shinning and make it more scratch resistant and reliable.
Why people spend so much on rolex when something like this exists escapes me. This is a proper vintage inspired robust tool watch.
For the same reason BMW and Audi sell lots of 3 series and A4s mate. Everyone can just get a Honda civic, a great car/tool, but does not inspire passion.
I've said the same for years, if Rolex was honest with the world with a normal s.steele Rolex your paying 80/per cent for the name the rest for the movement ect , but it gets worse , the gold,Rolex watches with diamonds they hit you harder in the pocket than any other watch brand, but any one who comes into money it's the brand people always go to , sadly. It's all such a rip off that's why big brands hire people just to put down china made watches..that's a fact ..so people get a steeldive pay a hundred pounds or dollars and it'll never let you down
How can you compare this to a Rolex Sub? If you don't understand why a Sub costs more than this then you don't understand watchmaking. I don't have a problem with this watch for what they are selling for but it is in no way comparable to a Rolex.
@@sashachip
From a Rolex owner perspective, I fully understand why a Submariner is worth four, maybe five times the price. The problem is it costs ten times as much (if you get it at list price), which is crazy even accounting for the brand prestige.
My 2004 gmt master 2 was 3900, serviced once, is +2 sec/d. Had over 3500 wearing. Look contemporary and will outlive me.
My daily driver and dumb reach over my other pieces.
Oh and I can sell for over 10k
Looks amazing 💪
The most beautiful watch from this brand I have ever seen. I like the size of 40 mm not too big not too small for my 6.5 inches wrist.
I have always liked bigger watches like 41,42, even 44 but as of late I have been wanting to get something smaller. Not even sure of my wrist size I just know I’m on the larger side of human beings
Late to this one and I was set on the doxa 200 to give my pelagos a break. Now im torn.
I’d get the whole bracelet brushed and the top of the lugs.
My fav “affordable” diver in the swatch group does to a brand you mentioned but maybe didn’t know about, the Certina DS action diver in 38mm. I just let it go, but it’s an amazing watch with the powermatic 80nand nivacron balance spring.
I like the band alot
Awesome! Too shiny for me but I think they make a more muted model don’t they? I’m with ya, that GMT is awesome but it’s a biggie.
The blue version might look more spectacular but the black one is close to the original from 1961. Also less blingbling even with polished strap and therefore overall my favorite.
Very shiny, I like it tho, shame the gmt's so big.
I don't think you measured it but what is the thickness, both with and without the box sapphire crystal?
I’d go for the Certina DS Super PH500M over this. While I do like that bracelet I think the Certina is more bang for your buck
Not a fan of the bracelet on the Certina wish they would add a oyster style... But it's a very good watch for sure.
Why don't they just make the date window round to match the indices on the Accutron? 🤷♂️
40.50 mm on mido website
Almost perfect watch. There's only one thing that stops me from buying it: the bezel insert is aluminum.
why couldn't they install a normal insert? A ceramic or a sapphire insert wouldn't affect the price that much.
And the lume of course could also be better. But it's not a deal breaker.
Is this a 60 click bezel?
Yes
I bought one and my bezel doesn't work, no matter how much pressure. I think it's broken. Shame...
Update: I'm on my 3rd Tribute. The first 2 where blue and the one I have now is the black version. The bezels where stiff on all 3. This is my favorite watch, but the worst bezel I've ever seen. I can't click it over without my hands bleeding.
What you're calling a micro adjustment on the bracelet is intended for use only when wearing a wetsuit/diving.
Absolutely agree with you. However, if you want to open it up a millimeter or two it doesn't really make the watch look different... And it gives you on the fly adjustability so essentially working like a micro adjust... I would imagine most people are not using this watch with a wetsuit...
@@WatchChris No, most likely not. I use it regularly for that purpose, and it is fantastic. This is my favorite watch I have. I've tracked the accuracy and its 2 seconds/day more accurate than my daily wear Gevril Wall Street which is 4+ seconds fast per day.
@@randyhamby7083 It's an incredible watch. I actually sold mine and really really regret it. I sold it to fund another watch which I ended up NOT liking as much as this watch. I really do believe this is the best watch that you can get under $1,000 and it's actually well under $1,000 if you buy it used
It's more expensive on eBay, because eBay takes too much money from buyers. About 16% in fees
Me echa para atrás el lumen, que debe ser flojito
I actually might be interested if they did a non polished option. I wouldn't take that thing out in sunlight! Yikes.
The thumbnail is ridiculous )))
It may very well be a great watch, but it is not "best" of anything.
Also, I am aware that leaving comments promotes channel 👍🏻
All those polished surfaces without contrasting brushed areas makes it look like a cheap Invicta.
Lol
Is the bezel ceramic?
No
@@martinvardzik9 Thanks. What a shame, ceramic bezel is the only way to go imo.
Hmm, No. :) Because,,, it is vintage divers watch: Ocean Star Tribute Swiss watch reinterprets the aesthetic codes of the diving models from the 1960s. Look at polish classic bezel and style of saphire crystal without antireflex... yes, its no best divers watch... not for all, but, it.is.love :) More practical a modern model is OCEAN STAR 200C
M042.430.11.081.00 watches for life with great gear: Ceramic bezel - two layer antireflex - cocs certificate movement - super luminova on indexes - great manufacture, especially steel strap. For me, best value of money, with charisma. I hate only font in logo Mido.
