How does this channel not have more subscribers? The interviews are always more insightful than most. Thankyou Sam Jones for knowing how to get people there.
Probably because he asks bullshit things like 'When did you get to know you?"
Well, it would help if the host talked LESS. Its so annoying to hear him constantly butting in and interruptin the interviewee.
@@sratus so smart you are...yes...
Jan Norris I think his style is more a filmed conversation rather than a planned interview with questions. Not everyone’s style as I’ve seen.
@@sratus only someone enveloped in their own self deceit, built on a foundation of ignorance and arrogance, would make such a comment.
Judgment usually comes from that which we fear and/or don't understand?
What's it for you?
Getting to know yourself...is one of the deepest endeavors a human can take. Most people think they know themselves, but mostly are blinded by their cognitive distortions, biases, conditioning, narratives, limiting beliefs...which they confuse for themselves.
Just admit it's way beyond your comprehension...rather than label it as a "bullshit" thing.
Someone who once met Rob Lowe told me his charisma is literally indescribable. He said it hits you like a physical force. He's not gay, but says he still felt a kind of animal attraction he'd never experienced before, and which he said doesn't really translate across the screen.
Loin Chop I don't think he enjoyed rehab but he enjoyed the process of being real and talking about his issues. like he said, he was ready when he went in and desired to work on himself.
@@marianniezayas1531
This is pure bullshit. After the bedroom videos, his career was on the downslide. Going to rehab got him press and public attention. Are we supposed to actually believe being a wealthy, famous superstar drove him to depression and drink? Get real. He is one of the most egotistical people on the planet.
William Overly what seems more egotistical is assuming you know more about the origins of a stranger’s sobriety than he does.
NoJustice, I can believe that.
@@westmcgee9320
A stranger? Lowe goes on every talk show, makes sure we all know how good looking he is, tells you how talented he is, even once suggested he could be a better producer than the one on West Wing, He has been luckier than most people, wealthier than most people, certainly more famous than most people, so arrogant he videotaped his sexual predilections in his bedroom. Now we are to believe this "poor" victim of society was so depressed he resorted to alcohol and rehab, which got this slipping actor a lot of attention. More recently, he has become a self-ordained expert on college applications, a man who never, himself, went to college. As far as "assumptions," you apparently think it is alright to make assumptions about ME.
Such hypocrisy.
I don't know if anyone else caught it there at the end when he spoke out about food. It's clear he has an addictive mindset about it. That's the fascinating thing about addictions. I've never met anyone who just has one. And that includes myself. Giving up alcohol was the first thing and now after almost 20 years of sobriety I'm working on my food issues in a 12-step program.
I gave up alcohol over 8 years ago,,, flourishing OCD in several areas after that
Dont Why people give up Alcohol and food , you only live once
@@monkeyspoon8255 because for some of us, like me, there are major consequences.
Food addiction is a real struggle, especially with sugars and carbs.
Whack-a-mole.
Over 32 years sober and yes it does help the aging process.....
Yeah they don't call it a party-face for nothing. It ages you.
Zero days but it's on my mind.
Nice dude.
One of the single best things we can do for our kids is to get addictions under control. Like he said, he hasn’t missed a minute of their growing up years. Huge.

I went to rehab at 26 too. I totally get where Rob is coming from. Makes so much sense. If you need it and have the opportunity pls go. Stay as long as you can. The more time you spend at the beginning the further ahead you are of people later. Even people in the rooms.
Wow I had no idea he's had 20+ years sober. No wonder he doesn't age

As someone who is 2.5 years sober this really resonated. He's so right. You have to be ready to stop, because you want to. Then it sticks.

@@AndreeCynthia Thank you :) now over 4 years!
I have spent the last 34 years in my recovery and helping others to grow in their recovery. The process of recovery itself never gets old.
Going into rehab and sticking with it save my brothers life. He has been sober almost 20 years now. He works as case manager for a rehab, and now owns his own house and he just bought his first new car. Here was a meth cook that went clean and now is way better off.
Amazing story. I'm 18 days sober and wanna be come an addiction counselor !
Had the privilege to work in addiction for 3 years. I got to meet and help so many people. That statement "it will never work until you're ready" is the biggest take away from my time there. You have to ask for help in beating addiction, but it has to be a selfish, self-centered endeavor.

I managed to do it on my own (cocaine), but if you were to ask my friends or family members what my defining characteristic is, they’d *all* tell you stubbornness.
Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired.
I agree Rob. One of the things I hate about addiction is that it is so clear to me that my parents can't fix it for me. I was just a kid when I first felt an "unholy attraction" to something and I knew it was beyond my parent's reach. Scary.
This is *literally* the best interview ever.
These interviews are great. And thank you for not adding ads to these clips! Just subscribed!

I haven't really followed Rob since the early 80's.
I like hearing who he says he has become since those decades.
He really does seem like one of the good ones. Stable marriage, nice kids. Still hot in his 50s. I'm sure its not always perfect, but he seems mature enough to not blow up his life.

Almost 5 years sober here and I will say that Sober Celebrities are truly inspiring!
I loved rehab too best time of my life still lifelong friends with a few people i met there over 12 years ago. Of course it helps to have memories of seaside oregon. That rehab was coed with women and guys, the best food, bonding with people, crying with people. Learning about addiction and ourselves.
Im 35, been smoking weed everyday since 17. I am on day 3, and while today was fucking tough, it was easier then yesterday, and so much easier then day 1. I mean i cried like a baby on day 1 saying i cant do this. But yeah, i've had enough of drugs and i'm going all in on bettering myself. Going at it like an alchoolic, i can't have 1 toke otherwise im back at it. I think i'll make it.

Getting deep here: I would add that society, AKA everyone, will have to come to the point of "Uncle." We need to face the fact that we are living within society's deep illusions. The primary illusion is that human beings are lacking and flawed. This illusion keeps us on the treadmill.
Human beings are lacking and flawed. This is why we work to improve our character and learn more. Life is about becoming better then you were yesterday
@@bluecollar8525 Human beings are not lacking and flawed. We are just distracted from the innate happiness of being. Society distracts us, then it blames us for the subsequent harm. We work to improve ourselves because society says we are lacking and flawed and must improve. Everything we do is for some form of happiness, and so life is about happiness.
did you guys watch "Tragedy vs Evil" by JP video on youtube? what does coming to "Uncle" mean,
@@MarcDufresneosorusrex IMO, saying Uncle means you totally stop what you have been doing with your life and ask, "What's going on? What have I been doing? Has it worked?" Peterson says that tragedy is a precondition for being. But he fails to see that his evidence is contextual. He should say, "Tragedy is a precondition for being.... _in this ignorant society up until now_." That leaves open the possibility that tragedy might not be a precondition for being on other wiser planets or on this planet in a hopefully wiser future.

We do guided meditation for 10 minutes during the meeting and the rest of it is open sharing and really getting to know each other. It's absolutely amazing and it's the best part of the recovery I'm in right now! It's not for alcohol; it's for my food issues. Even though I've been sober for almost 20 years I still was not using food in a healthy manner. Now I get to do my own meditation practice plus be around other people who are like-minded and trying to be the healthiest people they can be.
