ABOUT ME:
Hi, my name is Bill! Together with my family we have lived in 5 countries around the world, and spend our life travelling, in both a professional and recreational capacity. The aim of this channel is to give an honest, practical viewpoint, showing exactly what we found, and what tips we may be able to offer. We do not sell vacations, and the objective is to give a fully independent, and real picture. We hope you enjoy the reviews we post. Please do feel free to comment and share. Thanks!
I will be on her in 2 days for final preparation regarding electrical work. I will know more very soon.
Hi there. Please do let us know (on here) how it all looks aboard the ship, and how preparations are going. We'd love to hear!
@ritzytravelguide HI there, I have been on board Friday and Saturday. The ship is still under Fincantieri, and on the 19th, the ship will be handed over to Cunard. The crew is on board and working hard, getting everything set up, but until the 19th, they must follow the shipyard orders. The ship looks good, and only minor work is going on for the lower decks. I have only seen decks 1-3. She is a beautiful ship, but there are some details that passengers will notice. If you have sailed the Koningsdam class of Holland America, you will feel at home. There are a few changes but nothing major. I will keep you posted. Unfortunately taking pictures is very hard because the shipyard doesn't allow outside companies to take pictures. Cunard crew and staff can.
@nechelberryjr @nechelberryjr Hi Norman, thank you so much for your reporting back from the ship, it's really interesting to hear. Sounds like they are on a schedule for the shake down trip for press and agents at the end of the month. But cutting it a little fine!
You hinted it has a few details/ differences from previous ships. Is it that Queen Anne is feeling a lot more modern than the typical Cunard Art Deco look?
@ritzytravelguide if you have any specific requests regarding certain areas of the ship let me know and I will try to get that info.
Thank you so much Norman. I think the overriding question most have is: whether the traditional feel and elegance is still there? Some renders and photos that have come out hint at a very modern and possibly bland decor? One viewer mentioned he's worried Queen Anne will resemble the interior of H&M, rather than a beautiful art deco masterpiece. From what you saw, has Queen Anne lots her way and gone too modern, too bland?
Did you manage to see the Queens Room, Britannia Dining, Chart Room, or other principal areas. If so, how did they look and feel?
Thanks so much for your insight
Thanks Bill for the video. We are cruising on her in August this year and are very excited.
I'm sure you are! Which itinerary are you on?
Another great video Bill, well done!
"Shopping host" - uh, no thanks.🙃 Archery, yes!
I'm up for pointy archery too 🎯. I remember years ago cruises used to offer clay pigeon shooting too. That was a blast! And hitting golf balls off the aft deck into the sea!
The craziness of cruising gone by.
Cheers Bill. 7 of us are off to the Med onboard in July.
Fantastic! Have an amazing time!
We've never sailed Cunard, but know some channels who have been invited down to the press event. It's so exciting. Haha love the sound of the sun lounger archery! We think it will go ahead on time! We'd love to sail on Queen Anne. She looks beautiful. Thanks for this video. Cheers 🍻
Yes, shooting arrows from the sun lounger, Negroni in hand, could be the new favourite afternoon sport!
Good video thank you. Looking forward to cruising on Queen Anne to Iceland in July. Over 30 Cunard cruises - love Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria hope this one comes up to the standard expected.

Hi there, have a fabulous time, Iceland is a really great place to cruise to! Do let us know afterwards what you thought, we love to hear back!
Thanks William. The Mrs and I are booked on Queen Anne for Jan 9 Southampton to NY, our first ever cruise. We love your family videos. Good Stuff Sir 😀
Plenty of time for them to wrinkle out any issues, before you get on board in January. And repaint the grey bits a different colour! Have a great first cruise
IT BETTER BE ON TIME! I'm Booked for the Maiden on May 3rd!
I think half the archery equipment onboard will be aimed at Cunard Senior Management if it's not! Have a fantastic cruise
That's my birthday 🚢🙂
These pinnacle class ships do NOT have a traditional promenade deck. It’s only a narrow deck that 2 people can barely walk side by side while lifeboats block the view of the sea. Cunard passengers love the sea and especially love tradition. This deletion of a traditional promenade deck with teak steamer chairs is a disregard for loyal Cunarders who love to sit and relax on a wide open deck while watching the sea.
You can't charge passengers for walking on the Promenade deck though. :)
Great video, many thanks. I’m looking forward to sailing on Queen Anne in October
Thanks for your kind message. Have a fantastic sailing in October
I’m going on a test stay on 29th April for 1 night
Have a great time. Please do let us know on here what you thought afterwards
I am boarding QV on the 28th April so hoping Queen Anne has arrived by then. If not I am in Liverpool on 3 June and then finally sailing on Queen Anne in October.
Merseyside will be buzzing on June the 3rd. Have a fantastic time there, as well as aboard QV. By October QA will be well and truly in her stride, and running smoothly. Not long to wait!
Queen Anne will sail into Southampton on the 27th April docking at 101 berth (The one next to Mayflower Park) at 10.30am ish, then she moving to berth 106 on 29th April.
@user-nh8pj5xj9w I'm sure there will be quite the crowd coming to take a look! Will you be there?
I live near Southampton so yes I will see her sail on the 27th April then I am on the maiden on the 3rd May @@ritzytravelguide
@user-nh8pj5xj9w Have a great Maiden voyage
I went on a Caribbean cruise in 1997 double barrel shotgun shooting off the back I was 16 😂 pointy archery 😂😂😂😂😂
You are absolutely right! I remember clay pigeon shooting off the aft deck. Also hitting golf balls into the sea as well! Glorious days!!
Not sure about the Britannia Restaurant, but we'll be in PG for the fjords in June so hopefully that's a bit more elegant (though of course the Britannia restaurant may look way better when it's finished)
Hi Andrew, yes it will be fascinating to see the final product in person. Have a great cruise to the Fjords. Please drop a comment here afterwards, on how you personally feel about the Queen Anne. It's always great to get feedback, as everyone has a different take and thoughts.
I’ll wait until I have sailed on her next year and I’ll make my judgement then. You really can’t go by artist images.
Thanks for your timely sharing, William…and just subscribed! Btw, am I correct that Queen Anne will cover Hong Kong next year? I’d love to try with my parents 🙏🙏
Hi yes, Queen Anne is scheduled to go to Hong Kong!
I'd like to get on this ship at some point. (And the p&o Arvia for that matter). It's been a while since I've Cunarded. Are their standards back where they should be though?
Hi there, we've been on both P&O and Cunard in the last 12 months. We'd certainly say that Cunard is a few notches above P&O, and there isn't always a huge price difference between them, if you get a deal.
Thank you Bill, and Happy Easter! I am scheduled to sail Dec 15th on Queen Anne: Western EU cities (LeHavre, Bruges, Rotterdam and Hamburg). My friend from England has warned me and expressed concern for me being on North Sea in December 🫢 And now this concern has me considering changing to an Alaskan cruise on Cunard for this fall instead. The QA decor shown in your video is disappointing, as brochure showed rich navy and luxurious gold accents. I can't stand grey 😅 I need to give some thought to this before too long. Look forward to watching your Princess cruise videos. Cheers!
Hi Kate, lovely to hear from you. It's just a few weeks (hopefully) before launch, I would hold off making booking decisions or alterations until real world footage comes out, and how the QA looks in the flesh. These are just early sneak peak images. In reality once everything is in, and all furniture and decor is complete, it might look different from early shots. You have time on your side to make a final decision.
A real bonus to being on board on December 15th, Cunard ships always look so festive at that time of year, there will be lovely festive cheer, with all the decorations up, and those European cities have great Christmas markets to visit too!
@ritzytravelguide Thank you, Bill. I will take your advice onboard. It will be my first cruise, and I've been contemplating spending the days after in London or surrounds. So once I confirm 100% I am proceeding, I then will make accommodation reservations and buy my plane ticket. Right now, BA is offering the best fares. 👌🏻
@katem4365 Hi Kate. Yes, I fully understand for your first cruise you want to get it right. By mid to end of May there will be lots of feedback on the QA, and you can make your mind up!
Hi kate Happy Easter. The carpet in the Britannia Restaurant has a grey sheet on top to protect the carpet until all of work within the restaurant has been completed. Once anything is in place then this grey sheet will be removed and then the carpet will be cleaned. Deck 2 will have blue carpet and Deck 3 will have red carpet. I have sail many times in the North Sea in December yes the sea can be rough but the Queen Anne is built to handle this. Plus I am also on the same cruise as you in December. I hope this helps.
@user-nh8pj5xj9w Happy Easter to you as well. I very much appreciate the added details, thank you. Also good to know the ship will handle the North Sea 😁
Is it my imagination, or is the ship design/layout virtually identical to HAL's Pinnacle class ships? (Maybe both being "Pinnacle Class is a giveaway...lol)
When is the launch of this cruise?
Hi, the Maiden is May 2nd
This is part 2 of our look at the Queen Anne. You can find part 1 here:
ua-cam.com/video/xrKY0JAUESM/v-deo.html
Thank you so much!
Oh Bill.. I hoped the horrible renderings were not the last word. But obviously they are. The ship is not even from outside beautiful, but the inside is so uninspired contemporary standard that I am shaking here... 😂 Not even the traditional shape of the Britannia-Restaurant is still there, nor is the dome/skylight above. The ZARA-Store "Grand Lobby" is like: 😳🥴...
Sorry, hoped to be positive in my review.
But your video is great as always! Next I will check out the Naples one, cos we go there with the Victoria in September. Have a nice easter holiday! 🙋♂️
Hi Jorg, yes I too am a little concerned how 'grey' it's looking. I really hope than when the soft furnishings and decor items go in, it will be magically transformed.
The Queen Anne could be very polarising with its new look. I can forsee quite a large divide on this. It's a gamble from Cunard. I hope they are correct with this.
Have a great Easter too!
@@ritzytravelguide Similar reaction I have to the Celebrity Edge ships. Too much gray and neutral and lack of warmth. Too much emphasis on "contemporary" that doesn't evoke anything. It's just "pretty." This is a contemporary design problem. It's follow the formula. The formula now is gray and beige with "pops of color" and a lot of interior designs in public spaces are following that forumula. The only positive is that many it is Queen Anne and only Queen Anne getting this treatment before this boring trend changes to something richer and more creative.

@@user-nh8pj5xj9wI thought that didn’t look like ‘the carpet’
What ship was the Queen Anne based on? Was it a Carnival - I don't recall exactly.
Hi, it's a Pinnacle Class ship, so very similar to some of the latest Holland America ships, such as Rotterdam, Nieuw Standam, and Koningsdam
@@ritzytravelguide It seems taller. Too tall.
9:25 The QUEEN ANNE prices are for each week and for each person? An inside cabin is $16,149 per person per week? I know that if I have to ask, then I cannot afford it.
Hi, those prices are per person, (based on twin share) and for the entire voyage, not per week.
So in the example it would be $16,149 x 2 people
= $32,398 per cabin
(Price is for the whole voyage)
There are then tips/gratuities to add to that
The entire voyage is how many ports, because around the world would be many times more expensive.
@mitchellbarnow1709 You can find the full details here: www.cunard.com/en-gb/find-a-cruise/H503B/H503B
@@ritzytravelguideThank you so much, my questions were not specific enough
Hope the Royal Family shows up for the naming ceremony.
I hope that Princess Royal will name the ship
I don't even go on cruises, but I love this channel. I find myself giggling throughout the whole video. Not so sure about the grey interior on this ship....a tad bit boring to me.
It's lovely to have non cruisers watching too, you're very welcome!

It's not for us because we're only interested in a Transatlantic Liner. We've 14 night double crossings booked for 2025 & 2026. But it's a cruise ship. As long as everything works and the food and entertainment are good, I'm not sure what difference the decor makes. Obviously when the Britannia Restaurant is full of chattering clients with lots of wait staff flitting about it will feel completely different from a photo/render of an empty shell. I don't get the hang-up with folk wanting art deco themes. When QM2 goes in for it's overhaul in 2026 they can give it a sci-fi theme if they want. As long as they leave the dance floor the same size as now and give us music to dance to we couldn't really care less.
Decor is a feel. It's part of creating an atmosphere. A cold decor or characterless one works against that atmosphere. It's not everything, but it is a substantial part of atmosphere.
Just another "cruise ship", infact like a container ship trying to be Queen in the long history or the Cunard Line
Why do we even NEED a Queen Anne? Complete waste of time. QM2 is all we need.
Looks very bland at best.
Hmm. It looks like they've dialled in a bit too much "soothing refinement". MSC goes too far, IMHO, but I like to see a few interest accents here and there.
It’s called simple elegance.
@Kimbaface Nicely described 😊
Nothing elegant about it. @@Kimbaface
Somehow the glamour of the heyday seems to be missing.🫤
