  • The first and exclusive tour of Queen Anne’s interior spaces! See the ship before she sails on her maiden voyage!
    I stayed aboard Queen Anne as a guest of Cunard. I paid for my own airfares to get here. I also paid for my own accommodation shoreside. I paid for my own transfers. Cunard has provided me with the opportunity to come on board for the VIP event and also invited me to be speaker on board the ship’s maiden voyage. But they have not paid me to make this video and they have not paid me to be here on board the ship.

      I agree !! I live in Southern California and so went to Las Vegas many times. Especially when I was a kid with my parents in the 50’s and 60’s. Sin city was always infamous for its tacky and over the top interiors. It’s like they always seemed to just try too hard to be new and “ different “ !! No warmth, class or beauty. Just flashy gimmicks and vulgar colours! I also immediately thought of Vegas as I first viewed pictures and videos of the actual interior of Queen Anne !!! What’s with that UGLY Queens Room?? Are those Disco Balls hanging from the ceiling ??? Expect too see Elvis or John Travolta come walking around the corner any second!😂 I love the decor on the three other Queens. Elegant polished wood panelling, etched glass, buffed metal touches. Art Deco is the best looking design ever !! The “ New Generations “ can keep it 😒👎 I will gladly stick with the QM2 , Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in the future !!

    I must be fair and suspend all judgement until I have the chance to see it in person. My impression at this moment, doesn't make that event a top priority. Though the Blanche Devereaux Boudoir inspired wall coverings in the "Artisans Food Hall" does not go unappreciated. I leave this review with a longing for sailing aboard Queen Mary 2, and an even deeper appreciation for her build quality and unapologetic uniqueness. Thank you for the tour.

    She's looking like a gorgeous ship, but I just can't decide what I think about the new take on the Queens Room. On all of my Cunard cruises, I've always been amazed at how regal the Queens Room felt (especially on QM2), but I do feel that this venue looks like a typical dance hall.

    Thanks for the video, Chris, and excellent job given the lack of sleep. Personally I think the design changes are very well done and the ship looks very nice indeed. Lovely use of colours, metals and materials. I can understand why some traditionalists might be upset, but to she seems to be a worthy update for Cunard to potentially transition to a new customer demographic. I've signed up for a cruise on the QA only 2 years away, but will be going on a TA cruise next year on the QM2. Will be interesting to compare the oldest and newest Cunard ships.

    Loving the bold colours in the public spaces and cabins.The deep blues and gold in the Britannia state rooms and ruby red and gold of the Princess grills.The pool areas are stunning, bright classic 20's. The signature spaces of the atrium and Queens room are underwhelming. The atrium does not have the grandeur of the other queens. The Queens room is essentially a night club

    9:24 I could be on Iona. There is NOTHING special or unique about this. The public spaces on the other Cunard ships felt special. They would have cases full of artefacts and information to brighten up a vestibule. This could be any ship. This could be a ferry. No flair, no creativity, nothing to stand out in what is a very crowded field.

Been on all three others and join Queen Anne on 10th May 2024. Loving the new look, my partner is loving all the curves. Always felt QV and QE a little straight in areas. I'm sure we will find some areas we are not keen on, but thats like anything.

  • @mycruiseviews
    @mycruiseviews Місяць тому +2

    Thanks for the video Chris. Having been on all 3 of her Cunard sisters she appears to be sitting in category of her own. I remember watching a doco about QM2 where Micky Arison passionately spoke about recreating the nostalgia of the Ocean Liner, a briefing which Stephen Payne and the design team delivered perfectly to reinvigorate the Cunard brand. Attention to detail and the Cunard history are referenced throughout QM2 (not to mention a genuine teak promenade deck!). Boarding QE & QV your breath is taken away by the grandeur of the staircase and marquetry mural capturing the essence of Cunard’s heyday. The theme is uniform across each ship with craftsmanship apparent in every space. Is it because QA has been launched in a period of cost cutting that the Cunard soul appears to be missing or is it because the company has a leadership driven by their next bonus rather than the legacy of creating a grand Cunard ship!

    • @ChrisFrameOfficial
      @ChrisFrameOfficial  Місяць тому +1

    Maybe I'm an idiot, but when I think of Cunard, I think of the grand era of ocean liners. Its ships should have that traditional feel with decor and colors. This ship is fancy, but it is too modern and contemporary. I couldn't think about Cunard without thinking of the fancy Mauritania, Lusitania, the Olympic etc. I like the QE2 and QM2. But the Queen Anne looks more like a "cruise ship" than an ocean line. Like I said, maybe I am an idiot. 😅

    Trying to be unbiased here so haven't read other comments yet. Overall I feel it's understated and elegant yet maybe lacking the luxuriousness of the other ships? Maybe playing it a bit too safe maybe? But it's such a radical change for Cunard! Still have to let it sink in. What really stinks is ocean view blocked by tenders/lifeboats on promenade deck (or whatever it was called). Anyway, I'd get onboard anytime!

Which is not good when you're doing Ex-UK cruises in December. I can remember trying to use the pools on the QE when I was on a canaries cruise and it was only really possible 50% of the time. Also noteworthy is the attention paid to traffic flow and affording passengers a logical way of making their way through the various decks and gathering places. My comments refer to her interior, not her stack-upon-stack design of her exterior, with little space left for bow or stern. The QE2 certainly surpassed her in spades on these features!

      NO, it's much worse than that....

    The Grand Lobby cafe was not open until day 3 because they didn't have the staff to run it and then it was open for 2 and half hours in the morning only and that increased by an hour. Basically a dead zone most of the day, apart from guests queuing at the pursers desk to pass on their thoughts and experiences. The other aspect of the grand lobby that I thought was strange was that on formal nights they close off the access stairs for the photographers so as not to trouble them, by you know paying guests who want to travel between decks in this area.

    Excellent video, Chris. Thanks for doing this. I did notice that there is an up charge for the Bight Lights Society. Do you know what that charge is? Can’t seem to find that anywhere. Thanks!

    I totally agree, too contemporary, not living up to the Cunard trademark at all. Looks like any other cruise ship. They have lost track completely. They are going Marriott instead of Downton Abbey which would be their natural habitat.

    Hi Chris, great video. I think it is important that Cunard recognize that they have to provide a more modern product. The hard line cunarders will not be totally happy with the way the company is moving. However if the brand is too survive and grow it needs to be proactive and appeal to a younger client group. The average age of a cruiser is younger than ever and they will expect a more upto date environment, but with the quality expected from Cunard.

    I'll be boarding QM2 on Sunday, for my 8th or 9th crossing, and I must say, this new ship looks like something another company might build, and nothing like a Cunard ship. To me, the only thing that looks like an improvement is the Royal Court Theater. (QM2's looks very dated, imho, and did already in 2006!)
    But since I really only do transatlantic, I'll probably never be on QA. I always enjoy your videos!

      My parents will be on the same voyage as you. It’s their 3rd time on it and we all agree it is slightly dated, but still maintains sleek, modern, ocean liner look.

    Are there any Queen Anne legs on any of the the furniture . I find the decor very busy and a little unsettling .
    Maybe it is better when one is immersed in it

    Much rather have the Art Deco interior design. The ship has a late 1960’s look to it.

    Those chevrons on the carpets must have come out of some committee concerned with people getting lost. I think I’d expect the whole belt of carpet to start moving. Other ships have managed subtle and creative ways of indicating direction much more successfully.

    There is a marvelous blending of nostalgic Art Deco and Moderne--recalling a rich heritage, yet the ship has an engaging contemporary air. I say a job well done...and I am ready to sail!

    Hmmm. I am having a difficult time landing on the design esthetic for the ship. Deco? 1960s? Hollywood glamour? Moderne? All of the above?

    I do remember how QE2 was first received - her '60s mod' interior featured a lot of plastic and chrome, and color schemes that included plenty of purple, oranges and flame reds. But over time - as she matured - we all loved her. So I have a positive attitude toward the new Queen and can't wait to board her. Still (you knew I need to have one - but just one - hesitant comment) I must say that the outside promenade deck - narrow, no steamer chairs and a view largely blocked by the lifeboats - is a disappointment.
