The whole presentation was pretty cool. I think CIG's problem is that everyone wants this to be their "dream game," but everyone's dreams are different. And when CIG diverges from someone's dream, it becomes contentious. And, in some cases, CIG diverged too far from some people's dreams, and those people are taking it very personally, to the point that some are now rooting for the game's demise. Kind of a "If I can't get what I want, then nobody will get what they want." vibe. My personal favorite part was the weather and the SQ42 demo. Seeing the two new systems was a treat, too. I still remain highly optimistic about this game.
For me SQ42 stuff was great but SC stuff not so much. All they showed was cool tech that and pretty visuals but none of that really matters gameplay wise. What's the point of 3042 locations if all I'll be doing is the same boring bunker missions? Will we ever get some mission that takes me across half the planet or through multiple locations? I.e. I investigate some abandoned outpost, find some clues that lead me to a bunker, there I find some bad guys, find some more clues or some kind of cargo that was stolen, takes me to another location etc -> finally get some big rewards that isn't money. Instanced stuff is also neat but again, what exactly will be the rewards? What is the "end goal"? What when I beat the final level? What then? Way too many questions and not that many answers.
@@fwdcnorac8574 Yep, day 2 was way better. Some actual gameplay loops and finally a god damn story. Also love that there will be NPC mission givers, not just some random mission in mobiglas. BUT... I still don't know if they also mean there will be other random NPCs that are doing some sort of action like cargo hauling. It would really suck that NPCs basically stay in their outpost entire time without any real routine besides sleep. They mentioned StarSim which "simulates" that stuff and dynamic missions but I guess none of those are actually visible until it spawns a mission?
What was your favorite part of Day 1?

Fair enough, I watch it myself and fill in all the gaps with my own head canon. But I'll guess we still have a long ways to go.
Enjoyed the ideas that player driven trading will be a thing -- less missions and more player affected game
they had a lot of clear and simple ways to achieve it in the demo.

Maybe after SQ42 is out the door, or at least closer to it, we'll start to see more SC vertical slices instead.
Did you watch day 2? Has anything appealed to you in that presentation?
