The MF DOOM / Pynchon connection is such a good art combo recommendation. So glad you put this into words as someone who has been a deep fan of both for quite some time but have never made the connection between the two. But now that you have, it seems so obvious for so many reasons. Thank you for another great video. I am half-way through reading through Mason and Dixon now, and I thought that nothing could ever surpass Gravity's Rainbow...and...maybe...we shall see (he is just too smart for his own good). RIP DOOM.

Really cool video man! I love how similar you are to myself in terms of musical interests and literacy, as well as temperament. It’s really nice to have such a relatable voice on the opposite side of the screen :)

When I teach my students poetic devices, I use MF DOOM, Rome Streetz, and Lupe Fiasco lyrics as examples. Great video!

Wong Gar-Wai and Sergei Parajanov. Great FACKIN' taste, man. Two very idiosyncratic directors. I love 'The Color of Pomegrantes'. Parajanov is very much the antithesis of ''literary cinema'', as Peter Greenaway would put it. It is pure sensory overload and a visual transcription of the artistic crossover present in the primordial component of our minds (oneiric, to say the least). I love 'In the Mood for Love', and 'Fallen Angels' (you must watch this as it is a companion piece/sequel to 'Chungking Express'). The music selection in WKW's films is utterly breathtaking and addictive. In addition, you need to see 'Happy Together' by WKW, which features Tony Leung in a gay relationship. Great guitar progression analysis debut, by the way. I must ask you, as an AFICIONADO of music, what do you think of JEFF 'GOD' BUCKLEY? Also, do you have a LETTERBOXD account? I love your videos, READ/READ/READING/READER/READABLE/READINGS/READERLY. I look forward to your mid-week uploads. KEEP IT FACKING GOING, MATE.

I loved this video! I am familiar with almost none of the works you referenced and it didn't detract from my enjoyment. Especially loved the guitar demo. You left out an important example...your own music is perfectly consistent with your book preferences (to my untrained ear).

You're crazy good at this. We seem to enjoy much of the same music (surely, you like Venetian Snares, right, such as his album Rossz Csillag Alatt Született?) and even watch the same channels (shout out to KC is Reading!). Thanks for the live performance-Now time to do a whole book review with musical accompaniment. 🎸

Thanks so much! Venetian Snares seems to have gone under the radar for me, but I'll be sure to check them out.

@@readreadofficial 😲Oh, I hope you end up enjoying his work! Not an 'easy' listen, but I doubt that'll trouble you much.

Loved the concept! And found the matches spot on :)
I think "Fallen Angels" is as good as any of Wong Kar-Wai's other films; though it doesn't match Lispector's short-stories at all. Céline Sciamma's or Joanna Hogg's movies, on the other hand, tend to fit well with early Lispector.
Also, though I like DoM, I find them maybe a bit too fast for Beckett. Musically, I might pair him with Standing on the Corner's "Red Burns" or Injury Reserve's "By the Time I get to Phoenix". Film wise, Claire Denis' work - Beau Travail particularly - has always made me think of Beckett.
    Thanks!
