    Of all the new trains I’ve seen premiered on your vlog; Waratah B, Metro, New Light Rail, THIS by far is my FAVORITE. From the epic colour scheme, to the way it sounds when running, especially when it’s passing at high speed. This train is a beaut!

    • @lawrencewei3583

      I think the metro trains are just as good as the d sets

  • @txmd78
    @txmd78 5 років тому +39

    And I love all the fine details such as the under carriage lights where the steps are under each of the doors. And notice how sturdy it runs at high speed. Very little wobble or vibration between carriages.

    • @v666fromhell6
      @v666fromhell6 5 років тому +9

      txmd78 I did read that the D sets awhile back during the testing in Korea that they had little or no sway in them, compare that to the Oscars. Hopefully the D set will ride at least as sturdy as a V set or better, especially if they are capable of top speed of 160k/h same as XPT in current standards.

    • @oblinmaster8568

      Yes, a lot of the other trains sway and wobble though it's also from the tracks to.

      I think the lights underneath the train are meant for maintenance and inspection and will probably be turned off for regular running.

      @@pwhnckexstflajizdryvombqug9042 the Waratahs have similar step lights. They are only on when an emergency door release is activated.

      Arrow Productions The seats are very inferior to V and H sets though. Think of it as non-G set Tangara seating on steroids. The amount of seats are also reduced as they are larger than what is on other fleets.

    Brilliant video Phil! And a hello from the U.K.! It seems to me that most of New South Wales railways has been taken over by the waratah family of trains. Similar situation in the U.K. where were being taken over by the “Aventra” family of trains. I hope you’re all doing well as I heard that there’s a lot of fires going on in NSW. I wish you all the best for 2020 and I can’t wait to see what’s to come from your channel this year! 👍😀

      Alan Aldrich That’s part of the reason why V sets are being phased out. They were an absolute nightmare for those in wheelchairs due to the lack of space. Only suburban fleets currently have the acceptable amount of space for wheelchairs.

    I don't know much about trains myself. the only thing I could say is that train looks like a real nice style. I wish we could have smart looking double decker trains like yours here in England. Our trains run on an old style system which limits the maximum speed of trains to 124 mph. Meanwhile Japan has had its very high speed bullet trains running since then 1960s. Love the look of the old loco in this video as well. Was the knew train on test built in Australia?

      Seats are fixed and cannot be switched around in the new D sets.
      Also D sets will come with charging points at the seats as well, hence why they can't change or be moved.
      I will also miss the V sets but from an accessible stand point, they don't meet DDA compliance and are starting to show their age. Believe the D sets will first go on the Newcastle and central coast line, followed by Illawarra and Kiama with the Blue mountains line to be the last to have the new D sets introduced meaning V sets will still be around for a little while yet

There has been some new information published by Rotem stating that these trains will be able to operate at 160 k/ph.

    Sounds a little bit like the Auckland NZ EMU when they depart but interesting sound. Looks like they had no problems during the testing period. If it happens to enter service in March then out with the cameras for those beautiful good ol' V sets which could remain between 2-5 years.

  • @mathewrussell1533
    @mathewrussell1533 5 років тому

    The testing is so over the top in some regards. They tow it around. Power it up. Give it a hiding an hour or 2 and then get it towed back to the sheds. Its obviously ok on the rails. the signals change as required. Its not overloading the overhead. If they are overly worried do a speed restriction driving it back. But don't shut the bloody thing down and tow it back.

    • @GbrBy
      @GbrBy 5 років тому

      I think they should do the testing on the lines it’s expected to service. Tow them or not regarding areas the waratahs already service, but test them in the areas that need improvements otherwise there may be massive issues when they start running revenue services

    • @ashleyw1393
      @ashleyw1393 5 років тому

      Mathew Russell as I said in another post the first lot of testing is basically testing how it interacts with signalling and other electrical systems. Until that is proven to be fine they need to tow it to a test area where it is tested under controlled conditions including on a dedicated line etc.

    • @ashleyw1393
      @ashleyw1393 5 років тому
