Of all the new trains I’ve seen premiered on your vlog; Waratah B, Metro, New Light Rail, THIS by far is my FAVORITE. From the epic colour scheme, to the way it sounds when running, especially when it’s passing at high speed. This train is a beaut!
And I love all the fine details such as the under carriage lights where the steps are under each of the doors. And notice how sturdy it runs at high speed. Very little wobble or vibration between carriages.
txmd78 I did read that the D sets awhile back during the testing in Korea that they had little or no sway in them, compare that to the Oscars. Hopefully the D set will ride at least as sturdy as a V set or better, especially if they are capable of top speed of 160k/h same as XPT in current standards.
Arrow Productions The seats are very inferior to V and H sets though. Think of it as non-G set Tangara seating on steroids. The amount of seats are also reduced as they are larger than what is on other fleets.
Much like when i was on some of the last services of EMU sets 01/04 at Cleveland station they had the oldest EMU and an ngr (new generation Rollingstock) train
Brilliant video Phil! And a hello from the U.K.! It seems to me that most of New South Wales railways has been taken over by the waratah family of trains. Similar situation in the U.K. where were being taken over by the “Aventra” family of trains. I hope you’re all doing well as I heard that there’s a lot of fires going on in NSW. I hope the seats are more comfortable that on the trains currently in use to Newcastle. I found that I couldn't sit in them for the required two hours from Hornsby to Hamilton.
Ooh, departing sounds cool. I know it's a straight section of track and maybe it's the microphone setup, but it seems even at high speed the high pitch screeching of wheel flanges hitting the tracks is minimal.
Wait on, is it just me or do they not sound like the HCMT trains still being tested in Melbourne when they just accelerate. The only difference is that the HCMT does a weird sound and then had s sort of screaming sound,
Lov ed the demo guess they dowanna work it too hard for now. I hope that is not the old Tangara seat arrangement is it? Half forward half backward? Glad to see several Wheelchair areas and bike areas.
How can you find out about when testing is being done? These new trains should have happened years ago. People forget the U sets had tables and seats that didn’t change. D sets are modern upgrade to U sets.
I can't wait to see the last of the V sets, as a person in a wheelchair the V sets were horrible to travel in. You effectively blocked the access at the door corridor you were in. Other passengers had to literally crawl over you to get in or out..
Alan Aldrich That’s part of the reason why V sets are being phased out. They were an absolute nightmare for those in wheelchairs due to the lack of space. Only suburban fleets currently have the acceptable amount of space for wheelchairs.
I don't know much about trains myself. the only thing I could say is that train looks like a real nice style. I wish we could have smart looking double decker trains like yours here in England. Our trains run on an old style system which limits the maximum speed of trains to 124 mph. Meanwhile Japan has had its very high speed bullet trains running since then 1960s. Love the look of the old loco in this video as well. Was the knew train on test built in Australia?
Andy What's it No. Korean. Every new train here since the Waratah was built by overseas companies due to our government only caring about foreign corporations.
I’m wondering what if they gave the Waratah a new livery similar to the D sets? They would look quite similar to each other lol 😂!Wouldn’t it become similar to what the Tangara had to the m sets 🤔😬
Sydney Traveller Vlogs B sets already look close enough in terms of colour. Besides, leave the yellow front on A sets as A and B sets aren’t very different otherwise.
the d set sounds not that good i like the oscar and m set sounds better i wish they would make the front look abit more stream lined or something and i hope the seats can change directions manually
Seats are fixed and cannot be switched around in the new D sets. Also D sets will come with charging points at the seats as well, hence why they can't change or be moved. I will also miss the V sets but from an accessible stand point, they don't meet DDA compliance and are starting to show their age. Believe the D sets will first go on the Newcastle and central coast line, followed by Illawarra and Kiama with the Blue mountains line to be the last to have the new D sets introduced meaning V sets will still be around for a little while yet
