Umi never got a character focused episode because the whole series was Umi's character episode. I mean, her participation was the most consistent in the entire series besides Honoka (because main character). In almost in every episode there's a moment for Umi's character to shine, whether is when she gets embarrassed, teased, or vibe checks Honoka.
It sucks that she never gets her own episode but like you said, the way she supports everyone is so important that they would have likely have fell apart if it weren't for her. Finally one of the most underrated girls gets some love. Great vid! Kanan vid when?
Ah yes! The voice of reason in μ's! Umi is the logical, sensible anchor to Honoka, Kotori and pals' energetic antics. She and Honoka may be polar opposites in terms of silly/seriousness, especially in S2, E7 when Honoka gains weight and cries over Umi's suggestions, but in the end, they truly appreciate each other's friendship! And besides, even Umi can't resist the temptation to sing sometimes!
I always thought that Dia took after Eli, but after watching this, I realize that Dia is more akin to Umi. To fullfill the role of taskmaster and to keep everyone focused and inline, but also having a hidden soft, childish streak that crops up now and again. Thanks for the insight!
Umi, the literal sea of desires with yet to be seen horizons, finally gets the love she deserves. I love her really much having such a glorified character and a great voice too. No wonder she's in my top three. People, give this girl more love. Even if it looks like she denies it (come on, we know how Umi reacts to that) she wants it. More love for Umi. Despite not having a character-focused episode, I feel like she still developed really well, in my opinion. I love Umi. I may not show it a lot, but she really is important to Muse
One thing I also noticed is that every single episode always had a hint of Umi in them. She's almost like Nozomi in a sense that they both support Muse. Nozomi does it in a more subtle whilst Umi more explicitly Ironic huh? Umi who was more shy and afraid is more explicit about her support than Nozomi who (even if she is shy inside) is more "out there", so to speak I dunno, thanks to these videos, I'm noticing lots of details I missed in LL. And I love discovering them

I think the best song that shows her development is her solo song Yuuki no Reason. The lyrics speak of her putting up a front when she's really afraid of the unknown but she takes the first step and, soon, becomes passionate about it. Ahhhhhhhh ngl, I loved this video!!!!!
Umi is my favorite μ's member. While she sadly never got a focus episode she was slowly overcoming her character flaws in recognizable ways throughout the series. Dia is my favorite Aqours member. Guess I have an anime personality type I like lol

Thank you for making another amazing video that highlights a highly underrated character. People always talk about how Umi never gets development or that she’s too uptight but like have we seen the same series people. The girl who was dragged into this group reluctantly became overjoyed with being on stage. The levelheaded of the group declared that she wanted to push forward against a blizzard because she wanted nothing more than to be on the Love Live stage. Umi’s biggest character point is just how passionate she truly is. Despite her reluctance she wrote passionate lyrics, came up with her own choreography, went out of her way to ensure all members were in peak performance and even went so far as to hike a mountain because she thought it would be fun. Umi is very much like her name says, an ocean that can be tough and unstable in stressful situations but is also calm and welcoming to those around her. Really looking forward to your next Love Live video, and I’m slowly waiting for a Riko one.
What a perfect day for an episode on Umi. Her steadfast and disciplined support really does hold μ's together. Even without a specific episode for her, we see her growth throughout. Is it shameful to inspire people to give their absolute best and bring joy to so many people? I believe that is what Umi discovered in her and so could let her passion out for those performances. Finally a video made just for me. Ive been Umis number one fan for seven years now and ive never seen somebody talk about her the way she deserves. Shes so important and fully integral to the whole show.
Videos like this makes me think whether Love Live is more than just "weeb shit" some people make it out to be. With that said, I think Umi not having her own episode is a clever idea and instead making her the support that helps each member of μ's resolve their own problems and realize what they want in their own episodes. She's basically a great example of a supporting protagonist and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Ahh this video came at a perfect time! I just watched your whole Muse video the other day and I realized something. The way the girls are divided into attributes describes their personalities. The smile girls (Honoka, Rin and Nico) are the dreamers, they are the schemers who push to create and spread happiness and smiles to others. The pure girls (Nozomi (best girl), Kotori and Hanayo) are the supporters. They see the smile girls determination and ideas and are the first people to join and come to the girls aid. Then there’s the cool girls (Umi, Eli and Maki) who are the logical realists that help make the dreamers/supporter girls wishes a reality! They are so vital to the group (but again everyone is vital lol). I didn’t like Umi after my initial watch through of the show but now I absolutely adore her and her role in the show. Honoka, Kotori and rest need her and Muse wouldn’t function without her! Sorry this was so long but I loved your video! Why Umi Sonoda is a Toyota Sera *_Forgotten Engineering Masterpiece_* The Toyota Sera was what seemed like a cheap alternative to the weeb-loved Autozam Az-1, but it was actually much more than that. It had a peppy 81 kw 1.5 L Inline 4 engine which doesn't seem like much until you remember this car only weighs 930 kg. This meant the Sera could do 0-100 km/h in 8.8 seconds and had a decent top speed of 195 km/h. Its doors inspired those of the legendary Mclaren F1, which many other supercars adopted and used. But the best part about all this is that the Toyota Sera is practical and reliable, even though it's fun to ride and doesn't have the bad reliability of an Rx-7 or a Autozam or a Nico or a Hanayo. Overall, the Sera is a well-rounded and good-looking and yet reliable car that you wouldn't mind having as a daily driver, just like you wouldn't mind having Umi as a waifu or just a good friend. Umi was never really remembered like Nico or Eli were but she was very important and hard-working, just like a Toyota Sera.
