Hi,Im frm lucknow too and my mom told me her aaji told her that he great great grandfathers brother and his wife left for foreign land and that they only knew that they had better life in "foreign land" and forgotten thier parents and brothers and sisters and never came back fully unaware of the horrors thy face in that so called 'Foriegn land' which now me and so many like me know the britishers did to them.
I played this to my mom and she cried hearing this dada ji because he is speaking our mother language Awadhi which we speak in Awadh regions i.e Lucknow,Ayodhya,Barabanki,Raebareli,Amethi,Prayagraj and mid Uttar Pradesh region.
I wish to visit Suriname,Guyana,Mauritius,Fiji and find someone with my surname and talk to them about their ancestoral roots who knows I may meet some of our long lost cousins.
My love and respects to my fellow Awadhi Indians in Suriname,Guyana,Fiji,Mauritius etc

Bro, my family is from Suriname. We speak same language. I can tell you the entire history of the people from Bihar (including what is now Jharkand) and UP. Many relatives are still in India whilst some family members traveled the Kala Pani to foreign lands in the Caribbean.

In the initial days life was very difficult, our ancestors were lied too and tortured and beaten by the white people.Iam from Fiji and same situation was everywhere. The British made conditions that prevented them from returning to their mother land….the Britishers were very cruel.

Nope. The Surinamese indentured Hindustanis were negotiated with the British before being indentured to Suriname

You can hear how much love this man had for India. It's a shame he couldn't go back.

That is a long lived individual, 90 years old when interviewed. He laments the fact of not being able to be cremated but instead thrown in a box to become worm food. I thought okay, this is a “Dharmic” person serious about his spirituality. When he rhymes off an old ribald ditty mentioning “bharee, bharee chootar…” I howled with laughter; this guy could have well fit in the family as my Parajah!

If you know your grandfathers name, exact year and ship name then you can find your parents. You can search in Fiji archive museum where all the details and documents of Indians are kept.
