I mean I'm sure people would be excited and curious about a "vs" collection that has Capcom vs. SNK Pro, Capcom vs. SNK 2, and maybe even SVC Chaos; provided that we get arcade perfect gameplay, trophies, GGPO online, and any additional content added to the console versions.

It introduced a ton of people to the fact that CvS ever existed, that's where my logic was going.
@@meyes5671 I got that. 👍 But really I'm surprised to hear people not even being aware of the Capcom vs. SNK and SNK Vs. Capcom series even being a thing. But then again, Capcom skipped out on doing remasters/ports of those on the PS3 generation, and the PS2 generation is where they came out.
SVC Chaos (for example) never got a US PS3 release. It was supposed to back in 2005 or so and I was excited about it til SCEA decided not to localize it, which of course meant it went to Xbox.
I never was able to play a proper version of Capcom vs. SNK or Capcom vs. SNK Pro since those were released on DreamCast (US for the original and also Japanese, and the Pro only Japan only).
So I of course had the PS1 crappy port to play. Luckily I was able to play the PS2 version of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and it was fun while I played it.
But man...
Such missed opportunities here with the "vs" games.
I *really* hope Capcom, Marvel, and SNK doesn't miss out this time and does "vs" series collections on PS4, Switch, and X1.

If they can get those 2 releases, update the graphics, GGPO online, trophies, etc. That would be amazing; especially for the FGC (Fighting Game Community).
Then maybe we can get:

- Capcom vs. SNK 3
- SVC Chaos 2

I realize you only played it competitively in 2010, but a Tatsunoku Vs Capcom tier list would get me hella hype. Been labbing that game hard recently for literally no reason
Wow, same here. Odd. No idea why I jumped back into TvC, either.
My friends and I used to live and work together on an island. We had a tv and a Wii and we played that game to death everyday after the beach work. There is no game that represent a better time of life for me. Maybe I should play it again.

my heart hurts because of King being trash tier on this list. but then I realized Capcom made this game...it was sabatoge
Having the snk characters at best A tier by Wong is not wrong, but the difference in tiers is minimal between s and a tier when played with players that can take it to competitive level, but not like Evo level. King is fun to play and "trash tier" characters can hold their own if played properly. She won't win tournaments for sure though lmfao.
Capcom's taking it out on SNK for getting their butt kicked in MVC2.
She is all about zoning and chip. But this game has roll cancels and guard cancels. Along with burst damage. Her gameplan isnt very effective here. Same with Benimaru whose game is basically pretty similar.

She was actually pretty good in CvS1, along with a lot of other SNK characters like EX Vice and EX Yuri.
A video explaining game mecanisms of those old games would be great too 😃

MalikEmmanuel search reddit for cvs2 they will link you to a discord and you can find the GameCube emulator that allows you to play CVS2 only it’s the same emulator people play melee online with

I think Hibiki should be a little higher just because of how well she deals with some of the S tier characters. But a pretty good list.
CvS2 needs to make a comeback so bad, there've been two new iterations of Marvel since it came out, it's way past due. Since Terry's coming out in Smash, that'll be the next best thing in the meantime
Fun fact. Despite Kyosake being the worst 2 characters in the game, he is also one of the few who has a true infinite.

Yeah, I disagree with him on that completely. Joe's a B at worst. His Double Cyclone is one of the best supers in the game, IMO.
If you become gutt with Joe you will allow people to dream
Joe should definitely be higher. He was the character I used to unlock Shin Akuma on hard mode might I add.
It should be noted that this was Dan at his most powerful at the time the game was released. His fireball actually has range. And he taunt in the air too.
Taunt in the air? Definitely Dan's strongest version.

Best version of my favorite character (Rock Howard) in the best 2d fighting game ever made. Everyone plays Rock in K groove (yeah, just defend is awesome), but I always preferred to use N groove. Justin, why doesn’t anyone use N groove? It as so much utility (extra damage, lv 1 and 3 supers, roll cancels)
This was great, brought me back to 2002.
I remember when NorCal (SVGL) was the best outside of Japan with Choi, Ricky, Oliver, Leezy, Dr.B, etc......Oliver never even went to tournaments and was one of the best in the Country.
I really enjoyed this kind of video, it's straight to the point but still got personality inbetween.
I think cvs2 is the pinnacle of fighting games

It haunts us all
Despite tournaments always featuring the same teams from S Tier, I always had a lot of fun creating different styles and strats from the A and B Tier characters. I loved playing Iori, Cammy, Ken, Hibiki, Eagle, and Terry with C groove and N groove.
You missed cammy and honda in the top. They were pretty popular too. In fact, I've seen more tournament videos and tier lists with honda and cammy than claw.
The tierlist is fun but the real meat the brief discussion of the characters goes a long way for making me excited about the game. It gives me like a land map in these games with such a big roster especially when you talk about what they boil down to.

Thanks bud!!! Blows my mind when I see your picks for top tier... I was just a kid playing this game and I am stoked to finally know that I found the cheap stuff back in the day with no UA-cam for my 2nd fav game of all time (you know #1 ;) ps love the merch got some on the way brew!
So vice is underrated as shit. She has a cross screen command grab that throws you into corner and her command grab super is unblockable. Plus her air leg cutter move (don't remember actual name) can let you get you in range for it.

I remember playing this game all day when I was in high school. I remember I sucked ass at doing motions so my team was N-groove, just all normals, only using bar to activate. Just Hibiki, Sagat, Vega, but barely even trying to do specials, pure footsies. Good times.
Love this game. I was on this machine at Defend the North trying to beat some guys winning streak.

Yeah, I've played with Joe and I definitely don't think he's trash tier. The guy has two really good meaty the low fierce kick and the rapid punch that can be used for chip, decent normal not great, two good supers, good anti-air, good projectile, a move that goes over projectiles, an instance overhead, and a decent roll. Free chip from being aggressive with the rapid punch and you can roll cancel the rapid punch. Joe was not a footsie character like most of the top but he a lot of tools to fight people.

This is one of the games I want to play the most in fightcade once I get familiar with Capcom and SNK. I'm goint to main Athena, Morrigan and Rock. So it's nice to hear Rock is good.
Can you describe what in the world all the different grooves do please? I don't know the difference, same thing in the alpha series for street fighter

Kyosuke was one of my favorite characters in this game, just gotta use what works and ignore what doesn’t. Has an infinite too.
One more thing, I think Boxer should be one tier up at least because of one move and that's standing fierce punch. That punch can hit you from half a screen away.

I think this tier list is spot on for the most part. That said I think Morrigan could be move up to A. Her N groove mix up shenanigans are pretty deadly and she can easily combo into her Darkness illusion from crouching short.

He is still pretty flawed but Joe can RC Hands into standing HK, sweep, or super. Its strange timing, but tap LP + HP twice while hands is hitting and then you can act again while the opponent is in block or hit stun. With this, the RC hands pressure is really annoying since it chips, whittles guard, stuffs wakes ups and he recovers quick enough before most rolls finish. Against K groove you can switch up the MP and HP versions to throw off the JD timing. But most of the top tiers can just run away from this gimmick after they damage Joe.
How about the Alpha games? Maybe you could make a tier list of Alpha 2 characters.
My favorite fighting games that one and Street fighter 2. Me and my brother s and my family and friend's had great memories with these. We were the best. The Solis bros & amigos. We beat people in USA and in Japan. Especially when they had arcades. 1 day I would like to play against other games. Like u Justin. To be the man you have to beat the man. Whoohhh

New to cvs2 but where is evil ryu? Is he a dreamcast exclusive character?
This game is so so damn fun
Sad thing is, the only way to play the original CVS2 online is with Parsec on a dreamcast emulator. Capcom needs to give this game a proper re-release with GGPO.

I have been looking for ways to play this, I'm hoping for something better than that....
The demul emulator has net play. I haven't had a chance to try it out but I've heard it's okay online

My team is Honda, Balrog (Boxer), Rolento. is not the best team but is fun and works good for me.
The BGM sounds like Linne's been drinking too much.
Do you think they maybe nerfed naku so hard because they were afraid of her being broken like in cvs original arcade release?
I really like playing Maki, it took me a month to understand her strengths but once you understand how to utilize her dashes, walls, and air defense via air guard or jd. She amazing.
Justin, what do you think are the chances of this port finally happening?
Having played both Yamazaki and Rugal to the point of knowing their ins and outs, and also listening to what Justin himself had to say about their tools...
...Why did he tier them below Todo and Mai? And why is Rugal tiered below Eagle?
Cammy’s stand fierce is +10 on hit and block.
That shit is insane. Cammy can button mash and it’ll be a true block string.
I love how there's the Low Tier and HIGH TIER togheter in the box art... if you spot who is who correctly, congrats, you're legit good at fighting games

Love it, love your tier list videos but stop starting with the high tiers, just go for the random picks it makes the video more interesting to watch.
what about the boss characters? theoretically where would they be on a tier list?
Boss characters were all banned in competitive play. For one they werent in the arcade version, and at the time CVS2 was played only arcade settings were legal in tournament play. So they don't factor into the tier list at all. I woumd imagine the boss characters are broken though
I know Shin Akuma had an easy infinite to do and God Rugal had a 100% combo, but I just know that the boss characters were just OP
This game was great, been playing it online on Dolphin (no RCs is kind of a bummer but well) and offline on Redream, might be my all time favorite as a player. It's clearly part of the golden era of Capcom fighting games with 3S and MvC2. SNK's KOF98, Garou MOTW and KOF2002UM... fuck, nostalgia hitting hard again.

I really hope for a PC, PS4, XBONE, Switch release with proper GGPO and cross play. I also want them to actually balance the game with the community (mostly to buff the trash characters nobody used). But of cause always leave an OG balance option available.

Evil Ryu and Orochi Iori were banned because I think it had something to do with some ports of the game that didn’t have those characters

I think nokoruru should be in B tier, she has strong engagement and can punish when played right. Also although risky, if you use her falcon and position correctly, alot of utility opens up.
I dunno about kyosuke ( this guy has insane defense and anti air zoning, I'd say he maybe stronger than gulie in that area), Joe ( this guy has one of the best supers in the game along with great range normals that can rival Sagat) or the female guy ( her 50/50 slide, overhead grab or run cancel is very good and dangerous plus she has good normals) being trash tier, I'd say they should be low B tier personally however everything else makes sense.

Good question because unfortunately I own the GCN version of this which I didnt know was considered the worst.
What if it was a tier list based on interactions? Like Dan vs Sagat etc.
