Congrats man, the M6 Gran Coupe is my absolute dream car! But for 37K? Here in Austria you need at least 45K for a good one with around 100K Kilometres!
@@vonsauto I've had no problems with the S63-TU engine or the DCT transmission. The N63 engine (which you have in your 750) were the ones that had issues that made people scared of upgraded N63TU and S63TU engines. With the TU engines they really only have significant reliability issues when they are tuned to higher Tq and HP and are not modified to handle the extra stress on the internals or address the needed extra cooling and airflow. I highly recommend reviewing any of the BMW forums out there to learn more about the engine and anything else you may need to consider.
The speed warning thing going up to 200mph is actually really useful in germany. Here Winter or all season tires are required by law and many people get cheaper winter tires because you use them less time of the year. Since there are unlimited sections of the autobahn you can easily go over the vehicle speed rating of your tires. They probably set that up at the dealer when you change your tires. Most dealers in germany put a sticker next to the starter button warning you not to go over 180 kph for example.
I have an E90 335i and I absolutely love the turn signal stalk! Every time I get into a car with a regular stalk, it feels so odd to me. To me, it is great being able to half-press the stalk, enabling the "triple turn signal" for lane changes. Also, the signal can be easily disabled by performing a half-press (I'm not really sure if it matters which way it is pushed).
Exactly! This way, the indicator stalk is always exactly where you expect it to be. Cancelling the turn signal can be done by half-pressing the stalk in either direction.
Got an e63 6 series myself. love the turn signal stick lol. Bro drives a CLS and he prefers the BMW turn signal by a mile.. I don’t get people’s complaints lol
The turn signal is great, light click for a 3 signal momentary lane change signal, click slightly harder for continuous signaling, press in the same direction to cancel - where is the difficulty, not the hardest thing to master - The change to the more normal configuration was a regulatory requirement.

1. parking brake switch: The middle console is a bit different with an automatic an the parking brake switch seems better integratet. 2. left door blank area: the 6 series gran coupe has rear windows, so you need the space for the window switches. Same with the 6 series convertible. 3. middle speaker: but it brings up the tweeter with a more important positioning over the middle frequency speaker behind it. 4. speed limiter: in Germany with those cars we drive between 120 and 150 mph on the Autobahn on a daily basis. 130mph is the limit for most winter tires, where this system is very helpful. The HUD is configurable to your M1/M2 quick selects. you can have full Sport+ on all your configs and still have it set to the basic HUD if you want. You can also get that sport HUD in any driving mode, you just tap the HUD button
That singular cup holder is there because they didn't option the "smokers package" so instead of an ashtray and lighter you get a cup holder, otherwise the holders are in the cubby in front of the shifter (in the GC there are two there).
The turn signals are two stage and to cancel you tap the stalk either direction, you don't throw it all the way over. Easier said than done though, it is a bad design
The voice note didn't play because you had the stereo off/muted
I have a 2014 M6 Gran Coupe in moonstone metallic which is appropriate because it weighs as much as a moon but is still a fun DD and a great car for drives in the mountains. (PS mine was originally something like $130K and I got it for $37K with 42k miles lol)
Congrats man, the M6 Gran Coupe is my absolute dream car! But for 37K? Here in Austria you need at least 45K for a good one with around 100K Kilometres!
So your engine still works. Not for long.
@@casmon71 nope. 2 years of ownership, driven across the country, done multiple track days, and zero issues.
How’s the reliability I’m coming from a 2012 750i 170k miles
@@vonsauto I've had no problems with the S63-TU engine or the DCT transmission. The N63 engine (which you have in your 750) were the ones that had issues that made people scared of upgraded N63TU and S63TU engines. With the TU engines they really only have significant reliability issues when they are tuned to higher Tq and HP and are not modified to handle the extra stress on the internals or address the needed extra cooling and airflow. I highly recommend reviewing any of the BMW forums out there to learn more about the engine and anything else you may need to consider.
You need that speed warning when you have winter tyres on our Autobahn here in Germany.

Yikes a stan. Living through doug
@@yungboicontigo9278 oh god not the context
The ultimate depreciation machine!
You ain't gonna cheap out on tires if you drive an M6
@@MrKruska11 you will if you drive a 9 year old m6 which is under a 1/3 of the cars original msrp
There's no such thing as a cheap tire for an M6. You can't even find a tire this size that's cheap.
No harsh snap back to centre position when it auto cancels as well
Exactly! This way, the indicator stalk is always exactly where you expect it to be. Cancelling the turn signal can be done by half-pressing the stalk in either direction.
E90 gang.
❤️ my n54
Same thing that made me fall in love eith my W211 E320. Tap the stalk to signal 3 times. Can't drive cars without this feature anymore.
The fixed the turn signals and messed up their signature grills.
Now it's the Beaver Tooth Grill. 🙄
I don’t remember Doug ever having a sponser. Congrats dad.
He had a kove or something speaker once, some coffee when reviewing porsche 959 and i'm pretty sure there was another one. But Doug once said that he never recommends something that he won't use himself.
I personally love how my turn signals work on my M6. It's not hard to figure out at all. If you turn the left signal on you just lightly tap it down and it turns off. To me it adds an element of ingenuity and sophistication.
Wait… you drive a BMW and use your blinkers?? Rare specimen my guy
Nothing sophisticated about that. Opel/Vauxhall also used that in their cars of that era and its just pointless change.
Doug acts like it’s rocket science, “who could ever figure out how to turn off these signals?! This is the reason for its depreciation!” Must be hard to be that stupid.
Tom, really? You must be joking.
I hated it when I first got my bmw. But after driving it for a while, I actually love it and am sad bmw stopped making it like that.
I recently picked up an m6 gran coupe, been a dream of mine for years and finally got one at 21
congrats man, my dad just got the coupe last week and it's an amazing car
how reliable has it been did it break yet. Ans do you still have it.

The speaker as it rises up is actually revealing the tweeter.
Manuals are rare and often expensive for Americans, whereas in my Country Automatics are costlier than manual counterparts and are generally rare.

They are not expensive, just only on eco boxes and some trucks and sports cars. But not much of a market for them.

The “smaller” glove box inside the glove box is for the optional cd changer, which the car does not have.

Also waiting for the Multipla, Clio V6, XL1, and C6 reviews.
after living with my 640d for the last 2 years, I absolutely love the turn signals, once i got used to them. they beat regular mechanical turn signal stalks in my opinion.. you just need to only move it half a click to deactivate it. most people don't get it
reading a manual is a bit too difficult to an average joe unfortunately
Why have to re-learn how to use them? BMW have correctly ditched this stupid design.
Ive been begging doug to review this car day in day out thanks doug
When you transition to driving it would be cool to hear a cold start and then a bit of engine noise 👍
Agreed
“I know some biddies in Cali, they all be calling me daddy”
1. parking brake switch: The middle console is a bit different with an automatic an the parking brake switch seems better integratet.
2. left door blank area: the 6 series gran coupe has rear windows, so you need the space for the window switches.
But yes, 200mph seems a bit much :D
Doug: Owners manual has questionable grammar
Also Doug: BMW "brought back it" as the 8 series
It’s a bargain as long as you got “M money” to take care of that power plant... when they work, they are phenomenal. But we all know what bmw does best.
Which is why I'd never get a used BMW 🤣🤣🤣
I’ll be honest, I was hoping Doug would review the older Bangle Era M6 with the 5.0L V10, that would’ve been interesting.
The question is not “Can I buy one?” more than is so “Can I own one?” So I’d say it isn’t seeing how a majority of the people who watch these videos wouldn’t be able to own a car like this.
That's what I thought. Especially here in the Netherlands where cars are fucking expensive..

When that speaker goes up there is a tweeter pointing back towards the cabin. There may not even be a speaker in the top.
I'd take one of these coupes even with an automatic gear box.
Those silver rims instead of the hideous black/dark rims of today's cars are just gorgeous.

Great video Doug! I totally agree with you, the 6 series is beautiful, specially the gran coupé version. Once i saw a gran coupé in frozen bronze and it was stunningly beautiful, i consider one of my top 10 most beautiful cars of all time.
But dont u think the 8 series looks just like it? Like, exactly like it? You say the 6 series is a large car and maybe thats why bmw cancelled it, but i think they cancelled so they could launch the 8 series, otherwise they would have two cars looking exactly similar with different names.
