- Subah-e-Banaras is a term commonly used for mornings in Varanasi. For me, a tour of Varanasi means a feeling of being elated to see the ghats, which are always full of activity. Right from something like sunrise which can be a substitute for a good beginning to death which is supposed to be the end of it all, the ghats summarise an entire lifetime in front of your eyes. I have tried to explore ‘the sunrise’ in this film and shall leave death for later. Super stoked for this incoming video upload.
Pramod Mishra is one of the few people behind Subah Banaras which is organised every morning, for about 2 years straight now on the Assi Ghat. He has been in Varanasi since birth and seen how this ancient city welcomes people not only from India but outside as well. Baba Shiva Das came to Varanasi from Italy more than fourty years ago and fell in love with it. He spent many years with his guru and other sadhus who taught him many things. The story of all these years spent on the ghats of Ganga seems to be written on his face.
A very special thanks to Dr Ratnesh Verma who is the Head of Cultural Department, and the founder of Subah-e-Banaras, for being phenomenal in helping me out with this project.

I m from Banaras n i want to make it very clear that people who come here to see the technology, development, n other hifi stuffs, this place is not for u...Varanasi is known for divinity, spirituality, n lot more which can never be explained bt just can be felt when u reach Varanasi...its the oldest living city in the world n so it is not easy to understand Varanasi in just few hours...u have to live every single moment here...

From 6.56... the saint wearing rudraksha, patting the bull, the hand garland, him smoking up & sharing a light with apparent Aghori... and then saying 'I feel I'm a part of everything' - what else can be so realistically bad-ass. This is the highest state of completeness.
Beautifully narrated, and let's not even talk about the number of goosebumps the editor must have got while editing this video.

Hello @Ankit . No offence but i think you became over judgmental over a random comment from a stranger. My home is near Dashashwamegh ghat, I've seen it far more better than anyone i guess. That comment is 3 years old,i appreciated his work which he totally deserve. That excellence in cinematography, editing and everything. Very kindly,if you don't know anything about anyone, don't pass your judgement that someone don't prau or don't appreciate their roots. I love my city,roots like every banarsi do.

Just returned from Varanasi. I'll tell u guys it's a real miracle..city is dirty.. traffic is a havoc..but Varanasi has left a indelible impression on my mind..its percieved only by mind..not by ur senses..(the dirt and traffic).it'srituality at it's peak..it's like life flowing in ganga..it's like the both the birth and end of life..it's like I missed a part of my life was missing before I visited Varanasi.

I spent 3 years in varanasi......this is beyond more than a city......A spiritual place#Divine#etiquette within itself........…The charm is something which u cannot explore fully because it is never going to satisfy you .You will want to have more of it...... Missing Banaras

That close up of Baba Shiva Das eyes is truly ethereal. I am sure many of us would love to have that image of our walls and look at it every now and then. Do not know why but the mere mention of Benares brings tears to my eyes. It's a place I've never visited in this lifetime till now but the closest to my heart.
Last year, I went to Varanasi and I simply fell in love with the vibration of this place. I realized the futility of chasing stuffs one after another. Varanasi was the wake up call, I was destined to find. For next 5 years, I am slowly building my future in India. I intend to buy a small piece of land in Varanasi to live there forever.

Banaras land deal didn’t work out. Trying to find one in Bihar, not too far from Banaras. Anyway, visited banaras multiple times last year. I still feel it’s vibration… it’s magnificent place. When I die, I wanna be cremated here… told my wife.

I spent a whole year in Varanasi , that time was the greatest time in my life, I am in love with banaras ,I have visited most of the prominent temples in kashi, usually I have been to assi ghat 3times per week , really there is is a magic in the air of banaras..if I got chance to opt.my job place , I will definitely choose banaras ...

near Gayā at Gayā Head. And on that occasion, many ascetics - on the
cold winter nights of the "Between-the-Eights,"[1] when the snow was
falling in Gayā - jumped up in the water, jumped down in the water, did a
jumping-up-&-down in the water, poured (water over themselves), and
performed the fire sacrifice, (thinking,) "Through this there is
purity."
The Blessed One saw those many ascetics -
on the cold winter nights of the "Between-the-Eights," when the snow was
falling in Gayā - jumping up in the water, jumping down in the water,
doing a jumping-up-&-down in the water, pouring (water over
themselves), and performing the fire sacrifice, (thinking,) "Through
this there is purity."
Then, on realizing the significance of that, the Blessed One on that occasion exclaimed:
Not by water is one clean,
though many people are bathing here.
Whoever has truth
& rectitude:
He's a clean one;
he, a brahman.[2]
