I was rather good wasn't I. Thanks for your compliments. it was an honour to be Bond. However, I didn't like the bit in my illustrious career where they left em alone ion bed with grace Jones and she gave me a most unpleasant ravishing. But I did it for the movie, fro the tram, for Bond and thats all that matters.
The man of my dreams! Roger Moore was so handsome, so classy, with such a sexy voice, intelligent and a perfect british gentleman... Why oh why aren't there more men like him?
Thanks for the post. Always felt that this was his definitive role beyond all others Roger Moore WAS Simon Templar. In reply to comments below, yes he will be missed - for his style, his class, his humour and above all his philanthropy and hard work with UNICEF and other charities. AND he was a far better actor than some give him credit for!
I wholeheartedly agree. But then, I plead guilty to possession of a degree of bias, having discovered THE SAINT at the tender age of four, and being a huge fan of Leslie Charteris's novels for 38 years. R.I.P. Sir Roger Moore, and thank you for the wonderful memories. For all the Saints, who, from their labours, rest... "The world needs a Saint!"
Just started watching The Saint a few weeks ago and I'm loving it! Beforehand I'd only known of Roger Moore as Connery's replacement for Bond, but honestly, although I liked him as Bond, to me Simon Templar--the thief with a heart--is a superior role. He's suave, intelligent, funny, aggressive when he has to be, but gentle and caring to the downtrodden. Love him and Simon!
@@Kamal... The first four seasons are available on Amazon Prime, and if you have a Roku TV you can install the Shout Factory TV channel (it's free) and watch the entire thing.
I'm from the USA but I love Brit TV from the 1960s. Fortunately they did air The Saint here in the USA on TV in 1966-67 and later in syndication so I got to see a number of episodes. It's even better when (inspector) Claude Eustace Teal makes an appearance !!
One of my favorite shows when I was a kid. I personally believe Roger Moore, was the most accomplished English actor, who played on those type of films. Unparalleled! R.I.P.
My favorite series, curious case, two great British actors, the two best James Bonds, two icons, Two best Agents, James Bond, Simon Templar , both pass away at 90 years old, Roger Moore 1927-2017 , Sean Connery 1930 - 2020 , Rest in Peace
Roger Moore in "The Saint" was a great TV show! Suave, Debonair, Classy...they all describe SIR Roger Moore! I still watch reruns of the Saint on youtube....Thanks!

Fantastic show! I am watching it for the first time on DVD now and am in the middle of Season 5 (first color season). I am going to miss it when I am finished. Roger Moore is GREAT. I saw someone else comment that THIS is the role Roger Moore should be remembered for instead of James Bond, and I tend to agree. What guy wouldn't want to be Simon Templar the way he plays him???
Very good tribute to El Santo, was perfect you choose de best scenes from him...! Roger Moore was my heroe when I had 5 year old until 58 today ! Excellent video speech ! Thanks me, Grillo The Saint 3.
Roger Moore fue un gran gran actor gracias Dios por haber podido ver actuar a este gran actor fue el mejor de su tiempo los de ahora ni le llegan ni a los pies
Sir Roger Moore, indeed a dashing, debonair, suave and charismatic actor and whom you can immediately associate as a a blue blooded Englishman/British..A brilliant actor and many say a good human being also, especially as UN ambassador...Even though he is identified more as James Bond, I would say that he nailed it as the Saint..he is closer to Simon Templar in personality than James Bond..While he was good as James Bond also, however his portrayal there was a sort of parody of the character..however he was completely one with "THE SAINT"..
Many say so. However if not for his iteration as James Bond the franchise would have never survived the 70's. James Bond in Sean Connery's interpretation was becoming awfully anachronistic and dated even by the late 60's. Moore himself found the character a "typical comic book hero" and said:"There's no way I can play this character seriously." The tone was therefore set as "light-hearted escapism" and "tongue-in-cheek humor". While this alienated the older fans of the James Bond character and the franchise, it's clear now that this was necessary with the changing times. Fair enough, they went *too far* in the "adventure extravaganza" (though Moonraker did exceptionally well commercially after the Star Wars craze) at one point but overall Moore carried the torch into the 1980's. Here's the thing. Connery had played Bond as the "manliest of men" (though Ian Fleming at first found him "too working class" and "too much like a stuntman") so Moore had some shoes to fill. Wisely enough he didn't try to copy Connery (that was Lazenby's mistake) and instead pioneered the wisecracking hero which was adapted by many a Hollywood film protagonists but was unheard of in Moore's time. Btw, Ian Fleming quite liked Moore as the Saint himself...
Davd Walsh: I'm not really a big fan of his but if you didn't like him or his work simple, just DON'T watch this or his other videos. You sound petty, jealous and bitter that he had what you never will. Regardless of whatever talent or lack thereof Mr. Moore had, he was successful, contributed to a worthy cause (UNISEF), seemed happy, was admired and loved - in the end that is what really matters. YOU get over yourself, troll.
Roger Moore wasn't an actor, he just played himself. He never played meaty roles. He raised a quizzical eyebrow when pushed. By his own admittance he used Dorothy Squires to get connections in the film industry. He had great good looks but was no great talent. Will Hebe missed........no.
David Walsh He was a great actor but people like you and some other "experts" made him so underrated. He had haters like any other actor and certainly, you are one of them but what matters is that he was loved my millions of people and was such a great human being. And if you can't see his talent as an actor, that's your problem. Not many people will agree with you and your comment is out of place especially considering his recent and sad death. You could have saved your goofy opinion for yourself .
The other replies to you David Walsh have been some what classy. Mine will not be. Will he be missed of course!! Ask yourself will you be missed. Hmm looking around the room....nope. Please crawl back under the stone you came from. it will do us all a favour. Thank you
He was Beautiful, charismatic , talented and charming. They sure don’t make em like they use to 💖💞💕

He actually punched M! (Robert Brown). Actually he was one of many actors who did The Saint and Bond...Lois Maxwell. Gen. Gogel, Shirley Easton, etc.
R.I.P To Mr. Simon Templar aka Roger Moore. Long live The Icon.
Roger Moore was the best.
Roger Moore era un gran Signore!

The best British Saint is Roger Moore,no American can play a better one,no use trying.
The Saint was Bond in a different form...
i love Roger Moore personality

Love Roger Moore
Roger was very handsome.
I have to admit, I like Roger Moore more as Simon Templar than James Bond.
I happen to share that appraisal.
Even though this was Saint, but he looked 💯% James Bond to me.
RIP 💐
The future James Bond punching the future M in the face! Awesome! Ref.1:03
Such an obvious pick for James Bond

To me, Roger Moore is the Saint. I'm less enamored of his turn as Bond.

I'm Roger Moore. I did all my own stunts. I live.
Damn! Moore basically played himself as the saint or as 007.

I don't think he was a great Bond, but he did everything else pretty good.
They were nearly all good, he was my favourite though
Modern Feminist has no logical defence for this.
Which is great !
Correction: 1923-2017
Why was he infamous? What did he do that was so terrible?
ROGER WAS GREAT AT SAINT. MISRABLE AS JAMES BOND
