The 1997 Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor went to... Cuba Gooding Jr. for Jerry Maguire as Rod Tidwell. Also nominated was William H. Macy for Fargo as Jerry Lundegaard. Edward Norton was of course absolutely genius in Primal Fear as Aaron Stampler (Roy). That's a tough call, and I'll bet a lot of people grumbled about it.
@@ilovebrandnewcarpets Nah, for what it was worth Norton was robbed. Gooding was selected for being a DEI before it was really a thing. I can't even remember any details of Gooding's or Macy's performances but Norton's was unforgettable.
It was a perfect reveal. The way he played on the lawyer's vanity and then just destroyed him at the end was cinematic brilliance. There's something quite satisfying about seeing the villain prevail
I feel exactly the same way about this video and "intros" in general. Annoying. Just play the friggin' video and skip the useless stuff. It's not impressive.
The first thing i said after seeing this scene for the first time was, "Who is that kid? We'll be seeing a lot of him!" Brilliant acting! That's a great movie as well!
I haven't seen his recent films, but a great actor, who has "range", the ability to play a good guy or a bad guy, equally well, sometimes in the same movie, as in "American History X". My two favorites, the Spike Lee joint "25th Hour". And the classic, "Rounders", where he wasn't the lead, Damon was, one of Damon’s best performances. Either way, excellent performance, and an excellent cast, overall.
IMO, this character, Aaron, was so similar to Brad Dourif's character (Billy Bibbit) in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, that it's hard for me to believe it was pure coincidence.
You mean blank with black beady eyes? I agree. I never really liked Richard Gere as an actor because he looks like a complete psychopath to me in every role he's in.
Never show your hand...if he was as clever as he thinks he would of just told the lawyer that one of the many guards told him what he did and thats how he knew what happened in the courtroom..because now the lawyer can make his time in the mental hospital very difficult and get proper tests done on him...he did not think on his feet quick enough and is therefore no genius.
This part of the movie actually detracted from what was a great movie up to this point. Although it was an epic scene for Norton, it was just like one of those movies with one too many twists. Unnecessary.
The first time I saw this scene my jaw hit the floor. Bravo.
That was an outstanding acting performance! He should have received the supporting actor Oscar for that role....
One of the best performances in the history of film and he gets cheated out of an Oscar. Ridiculous.
Instead Cuba Gooding received it for Jerry Maguire! You gotta be Kidding me…
When I saw this movie for the first time, this scene made my friends and i gasp. I love Ed Norton.
There never was a Roy or an Aaron.... There is only Tyler Durden. It’s only after we’ve lost everything that we’re free to do anything.
Could not ask for a better role for a new actor in Hollywood. And he nailed it.
What a great film. One of my favourites of all time. Norton was phenomenal.

all great performances
Honestly, Gooding, Macy, OR Norton could have won. In most years any of the 3 performances would have been the best of the year.

@@joebush1663Macy’s performance is really good. Cuba’s been better in other stuff, frankly.
That's an amazing group.. Back when movies were great

Screw off with the spoiler intro. I clicked so I could watch the buildup, not have it ruined in the first two seconds
Calm down, the movie is almost 3 decades old.
blame brainrot from social media. people dont click on and watch videos if the dopamine release isnt instantaneous.
@ricebrown1 like people who have to watch a 5 min clip rather than the entire movie.
It's not even a good movie. It's just okay.
I feel exactly the same way about this video and "intros" in general. Annoying. Just play the friggin' video and skip the useless stuff. It's not impressive.
Love this scene.
Pure brillant
And I think, Edward said that line on purpose, just to see if his lawyer would be able to figure it out
He did an awesome job…..what a great performance.
He was so good in this movie. How he could change his facial expressions with a simple look in his eyes.
Such a great actor✊
Alot of his earlier work is just legendary stuff
Yeah whatever . Just like it was blatantly obvious that Verbal Kent was Keyser Sozé right?
I love how he realizes he knew the whole time and tries to tell himself he didnt. Just as evil as the kid.
The first thing i said after seeing this scene for the first time was, "Who is that kid? We'll be seeing a lot of him!"

Edward Norton MADE this movie. This was The ABSOLUTE BEST Part
Loved his role in The Score
Stil gives me goosebumps
A star was born🙌
Baldwin iv, Aaron Stampler, Derek Vinyard, Tyler Durden, Hulk❤
He did a way better job than Cuba Gooding Jr
DEI selected before it was a thing.
This was a awesome twist that nobody could of saw coming!! I always wished there was a sequel where Gere would get his revenge against norton!
*could have seen
This is a top 10 OH MY GAWD moment in my movie watching life
The movie is a 6/10, but this scene is a 10/10.

Watch the movie called Rounders.
He's great in Red Dragon, The Score, The Illusionist. Oh and he wrote and directed Motherless Brooklyn as well as starred in it.

I think Steven Seagal and Richard Gere have very similar facial expressions.
This is brilliant, you're so right
You mean blank with black beady eyes? I agree. I never really liked Richard Gere as an actor because he looks like a complete psychopath to me in every role he's in.
Squinty eyes that’s about it
Good for you Marty 👈🏼
At least they made the cook county jail uniforms right lol
I lov' him
Great scene. Makes you wonder: What in the world happened to Norton? After Fight Club, his career nosedived.
Birdman? Glass Onion? both were huge at the box office.
Kingdom of heaven, are you smoking high bruh!
Tony Kaye said he was difficult to work with after American History X; but I get the feel Tony Kaye was the hard one to work with.
@vanimaladventures couple of decent bit-parts don't count.
asteroid city

Ironic he went from being a murderer behind bars to red dragon being a detective talking to a murderer behind bars
the reason he didn't win because he went full...
He literally didn't though.
Este Este Richard guere?
*Gere
If this was a twist ending for you, see more films, or give up, because this was OBVIOUS the whole film.
Yes; but Norton's career fizzled after that
it was like his first role silly
This part of the movie actually detracted from what was a great movie up to this point.

Great performance, completely ruined the movie though.
