No problem! I still think it's one of the best multi-effects pedal you can get, even with all the new brands who've entered the market in the last 10 years. It's great :)
For anyone considering one of these, GET IT! Admittedly the learning curve is a bit steep and some of the sounds and presets are somewhat outdated, but if you're willing to put in the time tweaking it, really any sound you can imagine is possible. From warm round jazz tones, to fuzzy doom, to edge of breakup classic od, to spacey and far out sounds. This thing is an absolute steal for the low cost they go for nowadays. Even without an amp it sounds surprisingly great and once you bring a decent amp into the mix it really opens this thing up. The sonic possibilities are pretty much endless. I use one for my live shows with my metal band, my guitarist ended up with two because he thought it was bad because it was having power issues, but it was just the power supply, now we both have one. I like the sound of it for what we do, love the foot pedal volume control too, very handy at practice or playing live to eliminate extra noise and feedback.
I had a GT6 when it first came on the market and loved it. I sold it during a 10 year break from playing guitar,,,,,,,after restarting my hobby I have owned the ME80, GT100 and Headrush Gigboard and none sounded as nice as or were as easy to program as the GT6 so, after all those years I found a used one in excellent condition and bought it. Happy days!
I have had this GT-6 since 2001 or 2002; I have learned more in this video than all the years of tinkering with the dorn thing or reading the manual a million times. Thank you for putting this up. Now I might just drag it out of the box for a while. I am looking to get a early VH tones out of it. Please advise if you want on how to do it. @@gearfacts Definitely not. It was good and especially convenient in not having to have separate pedals and power supplies. But each iteration of the GT's have demonstrated improvement in sound and ease of use. The GT1000 is excellent.
I like using the ctl pedal to toggle manual mode on and off. This makes it easier to switch patches while treating each patch as if it were a separate pedal board. Setting everything up that way takes for ever, but once it is done it provides an awesome array of tones and control. Sometimes the gt-6 even gets used as a midi controller to switch patches in bias amp.

Yeah man, I think it's one of the multi-effects pedals that manages to get quite close to the sound of a real set of specialized pedals. Certainly most audiences wouldn't know the difference :) #gearfacts
Exactly! By the way, I found "my sound" this morning while I'm "working" from home during the pandemic! Pre-Amp="5150 Drive", but with the gain turned down to around 35. Stored it in patch 1 for my rhythm tone. Copied it to patch 4 and added the distortion effect "Guv DS" (which models the Marshall Guv'nor pedal), some delay to make it wet, and increased the patch volume level. This will be my patch for leads. Assigned the CTL pedal to turn on the expression pedal for Wah also in patch 4. I am excited and can't wait for the guys in my band to hear my new sounds! Thanks!
Still a decent unit, picked one up few months ago for £70 in UK! Bargain!! I use for the individual FX not amp and cabs, plenty of lovely sounding modulations, delays that can be used two at a time, nice reverbs & drives, you’ve just gotta be will to work with your gear to create and edit your preferred tones, yeh newer units now in 2022 have easier user interfaces but I’ve never found this unit difficult or confusing to use, you just have to learn the unit and edit pages. Still sounds great, built like a tank and well worth the £70 I spent.

Yep, I just bought another one a couple of weeks ago. I always end up going back to the GT6. So I guess that's means a newer 1080p demo will be coming soon :) Gearfacts
I got my first Squier Strat Pack in 2001 and quickly realized I wasn't going to sound like Mark Tremonti without some help. It wasn't enough to just look better than him. My first pedal, and the one every guitar player should own and use, was the Boss DS-1 Distortion. It's the best pedal ever made and that's objective truth straight out of the bible, not opinion. Look it up. However it has limitations and so do strats and handicap people. In 2002 I upgraded to an Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty (also objectively the greatest Epiphone ever made, 1 Corinthians 73:9. Memorize it.) but I wasn't happy with the artificial spacey tones I was getting with my Korg PX4 at the time and coupling it with the undisputed king of pedals, the DS-1, didn't exactly sound studio ready.. So with a few months worth of healthy mental and emotional abuse towards my parents I finally convinced them to get me the Boss Gt-6 for my birthday. Until about a year or two ago it was the only effects pedal I used. I'd taken my DS-1 for granted and forgotten who I was. God....so much time lost.... Now I have thousands of dollars worth of individual effects pedals because I'm rich and therefore better than you, and I wouldn't necessarily say I've traded up. The great thing about the Gt-6 was that you could have completely different effects with one step. Whole new tones in a fraction of a second. Now if I want reverb on, distortion off, and an overdrive on I have to hit 3 different pedals and hope they all click over the first stomp by the time that new section of song starts. The experimentation with individual pedals is more fun and it's always interesting to see what $200-$300 pedals will do when coupled with a $30 dick kicker like the DS-1. Oddly enough, and this is no bullshit so don't fuck with me on this, when you couple the milf hunting DS-1 with the equally cheap but sexually arousing Joyo Ultimate Drive you get one of the heaviest distortion sounds I've ever been able to get. Lotta hiss, but that's the sound of sonic demons waiting to impregnate your girlfriend. I'm a little lost on where I was going with all this and how it relates to the video but I guess what I'm saying is unless you're sickeningly rich and good looking and own several different colognes like me save your food stamps and get a GT-6, because if you can't get the tone you want on a GT-6 or a multi-cultural pussy decimator like the DS-1 you deserve to be a fuckin bass player. Facts are facts and somebody had to say it. Kony 2012 guys, let them kids go. Thank you for your time.
As in quadraphonic output? I guess you could do it cleverly by incorporating the headphone out and an audio adapter, but generally no, it's just L/R out.
ME-8 was the best fun I ever had. GT6 was the worst sounding crap I ever had. Now I play on GT-100. Its good, but could be more fun.. More of the ME-8 fun. that thing could bend sound in the most unusual ways and make everything sound so good. ME-8 is effects board for people who like classic guitar sounds as well as be inventive and make your very own weird kinky sounds because that board can make you your own sound effect builder. it is insane how responsive it is. There is no longer only boring deley and chorus, there is DIE effect, there is scream effect, there is so much fun you need to try ME-8 if you like classic effect gear and would like one that is exclusively different from everything you anything you tried.
I own a gt-6 for 20 years. rarely used it. i cannot tame it. the patches are all over the top and the volume levels jump drastically. Boss should have spent more time creating the factory settings.
Well this is a funny throwback Back in the day I used the old Boss GT-6 from a friend mainly for delay and reverb in the effects loop of my tube amp and it sounded fine. I just booted it up again, because I thought "maybe this could be a backup for my Quad Cortex". Unfortunately I quicky realized that the amp models sound so horrible, I'd rather have no backup and just play the remaining set with my acoustic guitar and plug that directly into the mixer. I thought "maybe I dialed it in wrong", so I checked UA-cam videos and no, it really does sound that bad for everyone. Driving around my half stack, which I wouldn't even have any room in my car for, just to hopefully never need to use it, is also a bad option. Still funny how bad digital amp modelling technology was two decades ago compared to how amazing it is now. I also noticed the Boss GT-6 had tons of super weird effects any synth sounds (which to be fair, didn't really sound very good). Today's modellers don't really have many of those, just mainly straight forward (and very good) guitar tones.
Can you go over the effects chain? I've had this pedal for a while now. One thing that is curious to me, is whether using the 4 cable method (4CM) is influences the effects chain order? Are they related/do they integrate together? So if in the chain, I place my distortion before the amp and other time based effects at the end, does that end up working with the 4CM? Would this only work in manual mode? Or does the GT-6 just go directly in the front of the amp (just into the input, no other cables other than to your guitar)? I've seen the 4CM method with the GT-100 and other units, but I'm not sure if it works with the GT-6. The GT-6 has all the proper connects for 4CM, but I'm not sure it can serve the function of an effects loop with the 4CM. Anyone help me out with this one? It's hard to find an answer on this.
Yep I think you press 'write' then that message comes up, and you have to select a number from the user patches using the jog dial. When you've chosen a number you press 'write' again and it should be saved. Gearfacts
Yes you can use midi to do a "bulk load" or "bulk dump" which will upload or download settings. I've never done it so I'm not sure what software would be required.
I use a program from Partheus Software called GT Manager. It allows you to load your presets on the computer, send presets to the unit, edit presets, etc. I use a MIDI/USB cable.
Paul Cote You need to run the analog outputs from your GT-6 to the line inputs on your computer (red and white connectors). You will need 1/4" to RCA adapters to do this. The reason you are having cliping when you run into the mic inputs is that those have built-in preamps and are not inteded for line level signals.
It has many, many possible functions. I recommend googling "Bass GT6 PDF", you'll get the entire manual in PDF format which makes it easy to search for CTL pedal functions :) Gearfacts
@@chemotherapy8700 i agree i just bought this thing and no one can help explain all the functions without going off topic i already regret buying it im beyond pissed off
Maestro DUDER well I feel challenged though because I really have to explore this thing and I kinda like it. One day we'll be able to master this. Please don't lose hope on your GT6. As they said: This thing is difficult to tame but once you do it, it will take care of you and your music forever.
IT WOULD BE PERFECT IF IT HAD A ROTARY SIM AND REVERSE DELAY (LIKE THE ME-50) I STILL LOVE IT THO!!! AND YOU CAN GET ROTARY FROM THE GS-10 WICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME DEAL AS THE GT-6 sorry caps
That's ok man - You plug a cable from the guitar to the socket called "IN" and then plug a cable from the socket called "L/mono" to the input on your amp :) Gearfacts

😂 funny and true!
Does this support the 4 cable method? Looking for a back up to my Boss GT100 for gigs. Cheers for the video
Yeah I pretty much agree. I did quite like the GT-6 though, it has nice overdrives :) GF
I own a gt-6 for 20 years. rarely used it. i cannot tame it. the patches are all over the top and the volume levels jump drastically. Boss should have spent more time creating the factory settings.
Designed to impress ppl in the store maybe
Thanks, man! I just bought it yesterday) Very helpful.
Great video! Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Thx helped me a lot!
Well this is a funny throwback
Back in the day I used the old Boss GT-6 from a friend mainly for delay and reverb in the effects loop of my tube amp and it sounded fine.
Cheers man I just bought one 👍
Cool, good purchase man. I take it from your name that you play easy-listening classics and soft ballads ;)
Haha i hope its got a good Metal sound
Is it good for live performances?
Definitely :)
hi, does this have a Looper attached? The working of this seems really complicated. any chance you could run a beginner set up tutorial?
I don't think it has a looper, better google it to be sure though
Is it possible to use the in built effects/ preamps or even a noise suppressor for an external pedal like tubescreamer through the gt6?
Yes, it has a designated loop circuit for that. Hope you enjoyed the video :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts I did enjoy thanks. Will try to work it out and give u a shout out just in case :)
Andrew Meyer The next time I have a GT-6 in the studio I’ll definitely look into this and try to upload something helpful :)
Thanks. It's like an impossible thing to find, and it's harder the older it gets. Rip.
I always just plug in and play when I gig with this. I don't see any need for a 4CM with the GT6
Hi!! I have a problem with my boss gt6, when try yo save my new sound appears this messaje " please select user's patch"
Yep I think you press 'write' then that message comes up, and you have to select a number from the user patches using the jog dial. When you've chosen a number you press 'write' again and it should be saved. Gearfacts
@@gearfacts thank you!!
Very helpful, learned a lot. How do you find something you wrote?
Hi Gary, do you mean something written by me, like articles and so on?
Like when you use the write function on the GT-6.
I got an error for the 1-35 patches, 36 and up is ok. I want to reset the prog of gt6, how i am going to do it
If you google "Boss GT6 factory reset" the answer will probably appear
i was wondering if there is a way to save patches and load patches into the unit thro your pc there a lots of cool effect to ty
I just got this pedal and im looking to take 2 effect like in fx1 can I get 2 in one effect if so how please ty
Nope, you can't get 2 in 1 on this unit :(
Did you mention looping ? Not sure if you did . It’s not user friendly for a dum dum like myself but for the experienced only .
I never really do looping sorry!
question for anyone who has a boss gt-6 how do you add a patch from the pc to the gt-6 any help Please
@@Stonerville1 sorry i think you lost me a little -please dont get mad ok
Can you create a loop with the Boss GT-6
No, it does not have a looper.
i was wondering if you might have a cd on the tutorial of that item or some one does ty boss gt6
Not yet, but it will happen :) #Gearfacts
@@gearfacts please let me know when it does , will it be this year ? ty i have a foot pedial like that dont know a lot about it ty
Should a processor be connected to an amp to produce sound?
Yes, an amp or headphones
Please explain more deeper on the use of CTRL pedal
It has many, many possible functions. I recommend googling "Bass GT6 PDF", you'll get the entire manual in PDF format which makes it easy to search for CTL pedal functions :) Gearfacts
U mean "Boss"?
I already have the manual. And it doesn't have an in depth explanation about the use of CTRL pedal. -_-
@@chemotherapy8700 i agree i just bought this thing and no one can help explain all the functions without going off topic i already regret buying it im beyond pissed off
Maestro DUDER well I feel challenged though because I really have to explore this thing and I kinda like it. One day we'll be able to master this. Please don't lose hope on your GT6. As they said: This thing is difficult to tame but once you do it, it will take care of you and your music forever.
IT WOULD BE PERFECT IF IT HAD A ROTARY SIM AND REVERSE DELAY (LIKE THE ME-50)
I STILL LOVE IT THO!!! AND YOU CAN GET ROTARY FROM THE GS-10 WICH IS BASICALLY THE SAME DEAL AS THE GT-6 sorry caps
I never even noticed that it didn’t have rotary, I just have been using a quick phaser :)
@@gearfacts thats true.. butt still its one of the Effects i use alot so nice to have it ready.
I still can’t find the loop setting. Can someone help
i kinda feel bad for asking this, but how do i connect boss gt6 to amplifier? So far i was playing using boss gt6 with a speaker
That's ok man - You plug a cable from the guitar to the socket called "IN" and then plug a cable from the socket called "L/mono" to the input on your amp :) Gearfacts
@@gearfacts Thank you very much, now it sounds awesome :D
Gearfacts what kind of cable do i need for the in socket to the guitar
does it need batteries double A? is it bluetooth? how can I connect this to my guitar
Answers in order: no, no, ordinary guitar cable.
@@gearfacts tanks alot, and how can i turnin on

I love CTL
tutorial for what if we can't hear a single note?!
I was trying to show all the technical features. I guess I could make another video looking more closely at what each of the effects do, and how to get good tone from the GT6
Is this Chase from HOUSE?? 😂😂😂🥼👀👀👀
Could somebody help me. Thanks
How to seting loop station boss gt 6 sir
There is no looper on the GT6
Can you changes tuner/bypass from the tiny button to the pedal?
To the CTL pedal, yes :) GF
Can undo the tutorial for this one?i don’t have a manual
Are ok in 2022
Definitely
Is there also a looper inside?
No
@@gearfacts 😭😭😭
Yes. It's patch 53-4 or
15-2 on mine. Labeled as sound on sound.
Why was this discontinued??
No idea! I've just bought myself another one, it's been a while.
I have this pedal but want to know if the preamps that comes with this works good for direct to PA system? Like the joyo preamps etc... Thanks
I've never tried it personally, but I'd be surprised if it didn't sound excellent. This is one of Boss's best :) GF
Still trying to sound like Gilmour with this pedal. I suck.
haha me too... :( Gearfacts
Does it have LOOP?
No it doesn't :/ #gearfacts
🔝👏👏👏👏👏💪👍
Ok everything is lit up, "Where the fuck is the volume?"
Is the pedal forward? That one often gets me
Возможно сегодня пойду и куплю такой. В новом состоянии за 111 Долларов ❤ хочу сравнить его со своим босс gt5.
$111 = excellent value :)
My pedal isnt working at all. Do these commonly just crap out
Hi Paulie, no that's extremely rare. So you're getting no lights, no sound?
You AREA TO MUCH TALK MORETHAN EFFECTS!!!
I made another video about the GT-6 that was all sound, no talk. It's one of my most watched videos, how could you not know about it??
I wish you would've played your guitar through the unit!
I've got a few other GT-6 videos that show me playing. I'm not very good :/
