I crack up everytime I see the conductor and string players doing the call/answer to Brett's shredding guitar solo. Obviously out of their zone but having so much fun. Get well Farnsey.

You missed the end! After that pause, where you stopped the track, the entire band and orchestra goes into full-on meltdown. I saw this live, and I was on an endorphin high for a week afterwards. He's a really humble guy too - no ego, just a family man who happens to sing for a living. Get well soon, Farnsey ❤️
1989. Have seen him live 5 times over 30 years. You need to be aware that he’s this good EVERY time. No lie. EVERY DAMN TIME

This concert was in 1989 with a 15,000 string crowd. The concert was called Classic Jack with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. This night was one of 13 just for Melbourne alone!!
A great concert. John was singing like this until last year at the age of 72!
He is an amazing performer and humble, genuine person.

Any version of Your the Voice is fantastic but the one from this concert is awesome !
Unusual to get AC/DC with full orchestration and back-up singers, a lot going on on that stage. A little Aussie-on-Aussie love. I do miss the real Bagpipes, but the synth-keyboard thingy works okay, and of course Mr. Farnham can sing like few others. Overall, a great interpretation of Bon Scot and the boys, and good fun to watch. Thanks.
Great comment! It’s interesting because they did have a bagpipes guy on set that night (he plays in You’re the Voice).. but maybe they didn’t want to replicate AC/DC too much?

The voice is John Farnham as he’s known in Aussie, This man can sing anything including opera, The war is over 2003 With MSO when he’s 53 I think is his best performance, although the list is a mile long you won’t find a bad Farnham performance

Thanks for this, one of my favourites. Glad you enjoyed it. I love the "battle" of the band and orchestra. (There's another small instrumental after the point you stopped the video. Just for next time.) After You're the Voice (can't go wrong with thre Melbourne Symphony Orchestra version), look at an operatic comedic (how do they put those together?) duet "Granada" with Anthony Warlow - Aussie operatic and musical theatre icon, had just starred in Phantom of the Opera before The Main Event concert with John and Olivia Newton John.

Yeah john used.to.sell out for a week problem from what his manager said sometimes when they got all the bills barly broke even but they loved doing and he didnt want to raise the ticket prices so they had to drop.the orchestra to keep tickets down they would've sold them anyway but he wanted to make it so working class where able to buy them it who he is
