Nice to find a Master that knows what to do. I've been teaching over 25 years and good to find techniques I have not seen. Very good!
This is one of the most beautifully brutal combatives I have ever seen
Maul is so skillful and impressive, he is a great ambassador for Silat, thank you and him for sharing his skills
I really enjoyed how Master Mornie broke this one down, and opened us up to the combative strikes that are actually in play, opposed to the training on take-downs alone. Both are equally as important, but as Master Mornie says, in the real world you would want to know how to end the fight as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing - Invaluable for anyone training in Bruneian Silat.
Salam Guro maul most of ur video i kip watching and i never also skip a ads bcos why ur style same my old grandfather moves ..we re from sulu archepelago philippine
Negating your opponents shoulder power by pushing their elbow up and the leg positioning with the smooth change in direction for the leg trip take down appear transferable to situations not involving a knife. The explanation of these subtle points make Maul's video's stand out from the crowd. Awesome!
He is great lighting fast smooth an always entertaining
He really knows his stuff. Guro Maul is a true master of silat
SSBD is his family art, so naturally Maul will know it inside and out perfectly.
if you have pasive student which do only what he want then he knows!! now let we see with real attacker without rules
@@Mr11ESSE111Obviously you've never trained in martial arts at all. Maul here goes to the extent to show the more brutal techniques as opposed to what students should use to train in otherwise people get really hurt. He has a website and is easy to find at a seminar if you're willing to travel some so you could definitely volunteer to give him a more 'realistic' opponent. I'll look forward to your posted video from the hospital after.
@@Jazzman-bj9fq obviously you are stupid naive fool who see some fool with pasive dummy students to perform on that any you think it will be same thing in reality!! only who could be in hospital are naive egoistic fools like those masters
@@Mr11ESSE111 your dumb
Maul got a good teacher(his father?) probably explaining every move. Some master just teaches their students the move but never explain to them why. One probably ego, or to protect his knowledge 2. Want the students to discover it themselves. Those eureka moments.
Great! Thanks for posting!
He really knows a lot. He knows a lot about anatomy as well from these arts.
He knows a lot. But he does not knows how to fight.
Master Maul is one of the BEST! Great line, "unless you are a sadistic person." 🤔
His flow is amazing. And his transitions. 😁☝️
Amazing as always :)
Thanks for sharing!
"Because this is seminar, i will not show you that. Which i just did" 😂
Maul. One of the best!
Just smooth 😋
Great Maul
Very good info.. Thank you Master!!
Sir I'm sure martial arts crosses all boundaries. Martial arts itself has no biast!
Great master...mahusay sa sweeping at nawawala sa line of attack...
brilliant
Super!!! thanks!
Welcome!
awesome....great stuff and very informative,,,respect from Filipino martial artist...
Very good
One day I'll make it to a Seminar this year with the Michigan group
extraordinário
That looks awesome! Wish there were classes near me!
Maybe one day!
Very good as always. Based on some of the comments here one has to realize that skill set has to be left constant. If that variable changes, the outcome is quite different. So comparisons made and suggested are not constructive to Maul's demonstration of an ancient art that is graceful and deadly.
That is so fast and smooth. Well of I'm a sadistic person I will do the elbow knife stab finisher.
I'm sure you will.
Kip practice silat very usefull in street fight but in ending of story if u get the meaning of silat u become good person and patience u alway worry about ur art maybe u get heating somebody
We practice silat way back 1990 we only 6 person only 2 thammat (graduate ) becos very rigid and very difficult to graduate ..catching a real knife is not easy if ur no balls u can not block a knife with ur hand
Good luck in the court room especially if you are up against a good prosecuting attorney.
Martial arts can reach, Anyone. Anywhere, and it can reach into the heart ♥
finishing means killing, wow
In silat thé most important it is To break thé triangle. In kali in silat it is thé first thing.
Silat, indah namun mematikan
Yes
why can't I up vote appropriately? ....as in several times?.. :)
Master maul.. Saya ingin berguru padamu.. 🙏🙏
Ахринеть! )
That guy is a BEAST! I like real deal martial arts, like this style he's teaching or krav maga. I want something that will save my life in an all-or-nothing, kill-or-die situation. Silat LOOKS like the truth, be I can't help but wonder how the master would do against someone whose not just standing there letting him get off like that.
Watch Raid 1 & 2 to get a glimpse of how Silat works in real street fighting even though it's choreographed but at least it tried to emulate real street fighting as close as possible.
People just say this bullshit or negative comment just because they think their technique more perfect or they d nt know nothing because not everyone know about silat, i am pesilat gayung from Malaysia, assalamualaikum pesilat
How does that affect in real aggressive life scenario. Also blind spots and surprise knife attack?. We really love your videos. We watch in a village nashik, India. We want a kali master to train us. Thank you sir and your input
here is the thing, silat always works in life scenarios but will never works in duel or ring. why? silat is dirty, close and personal. also silat was design in aggressive scenarios like you said, which means the attackers fully commit to attack you not using feints or fake movements and they are not aware that you can do self-defense like in the ring. if you like sufian silat there is another video talking about blind spot in poster's video list.
its self defence against unknown assailant..no one can defend suprise knife attack..if you cant see it coming, you cant defend..make sense?
Pray that you won't get yourself into a real knife attack let alone a surprise one. No amount of training and sparring whatsoever can make you bullet proof from knife attack. Silat practionner train against attacker and expected to get hit or stab whatsoever. But their first option which they always been told is to fucking run.
You only fight when you have no choice. Family behind you, they be the victim of you run, etc.
As for how does this affect in real knife attack. It don't. Whatever the aggressor do, silat practionner have more or less 3 option to counter. And 3 more option to do after that and so on and on.
You can't choice what kind of counter you want to do. You just have to take it.
Saan po pwde mag aral nang mga self defense sor meron po vha kau sa manila pa pm po salamat
That move is so fast hahaha can do some slow motion haha thanks i learn i lots from ur vid.
and scripted too!! his student dont attack him !! he do what he want and go into position where "master" wants
Sir. It is my opinion that the very first move, blocking the knife with the right hand from the outside is very difficult and in a pressure test does not work more than 10% of the time. Further more , by the defender moving from right to left you are actually exposing more of your internal organs to the knife .At this point if the attacker has any Arnis,Kali,Silat background you could be disemboweled .A non trained attacker, if motivated would probably achieve a stab . These are just my observations, thank you.
Actually the blocking hand doesn't really matter. Its merely assisting the projection of the knife further away. Its the body movement out of the danger zone really matter.
Notice how he twist his waist & change his body position? He is getting out from the knife stabbing projection aka the danger zone.
Most of silat with blade system will teach u this. Some call it elak, ilat or elat.
@@lipatpandan4318 I understand the merits of getting out of the "line" of the knife and getting to the outside. Unfortunately while sparring with forward moving determined attackers succeeding is next to impossible. My teacher (Arnis ) may be able to do this and even myself in the correct context ( center line straight stab with leading arm) .What I'm saying here, is that if a regular guy tries this in real time , there will be blood on the floor.
@@mordi2537 there is a saying between pesilat. "if u come fast, we will be faster, if u come hard, we will come at u harder". So ask ur self, when ur sparring partner came fully determine, did u take him seriously? when he attack u aggressively, did u defence aggressively too? when he come 100%, did you take him out 100%? The only imposibble thing to defence is he come at you with a sneak attack. Other than that, whether u dont train hard enough, or u didn't put equivalent effort to defence urself aka holding back.
2. getting outside or inside doesn't really matter, there are always technique for it. Understanding the blade effective range, and ur effective range is matter, able to read the attacking line is matter. Since u also learn blade system, u should understand this.
3. Guru will teach u all the thing he know, its up to the student to be just a mere guy or train hard and be good.
@@lipatpandan4318 Melengkar I understand the concept. In full contact sparring I have broken and been broken. You also have to take in account that there is always some one who is faster or stronger. That aside I was questioning the context. If a person who is not from a blade system tries to use this defense in real life they may get seriously hurt. As I said I have trained in this technique ,( at least the first 5 moves identical) and have found it to be of use in a very limited context.
Just basic.. training more you can have your self skills ...
yeah sure
Laju
Looks great but please show me a video of how this works against a non choreographed, resisting subject going at least %60 speed.
If the attacker is moving forward , it doesn't.
@George Dubois Exactly. I have never been able to find a video showing these complex gross motor skills against a noncompliant person.
you just want someone to get hurt wouldn't you?
@@irbadltald2532 because every video you seen is a video of maul teaching explaining and demonstrating the art.
How do you raise your opponents elbow if they are taller then you 🤷♂️⁉️
you bring him down to your level.. maul has explained it on another video
What if someone is stronger ,they not gonna willingly bend their elbow
How we deal with that?
thats why you need to hit ribs first..make opportunity for opening..if that doesn't work, trip him and run..
The best defense is the attack, in real knife or bolo attack the primary target of the attacker is your body , no exact position of the attacker
😁💛
A version of Osoto Gari. The School Boy Trip.
I can see a lot of broken bones...if I were sadistic. 😬
the defense techniques are beautiful but the attacks are not realistic...Before I get the hate responses. I am 59 and have been training in martial arts since I was 12, Shotokan Karate, Atemi Jiujitsu, Wing Chun, Krabi Krabong, Kali, I have take seminars with Danny Inosanto and Paul Vunak…..The only way to realistically train against the knife is to put on protective gear, and go all out, practice surprise ambush attacks broken rhythm attacks, scenario training using objects around you a four legged stool is one of the best weapons against a knife. Remember you could disarm the guy take him down take the knife away and still end up dead, because he slashed you in the femur and you did not even realize it. When you go all out that's when you realize a lot of the really cool stuff you've been learning really don't work that well against some one who does not train in your art...Hm.
ugh you have to touch the hand with the knife and lock it, follow it, be fluid and all that. But the first 3 movements of this will get you killed if you attempt. He is blocking and hitting and not openly controlling the hand with the knife. Keep in mind, 2 points. When a guy with a knife is attacking you, he only needs to TOUCH you and do serious harm, you however can punch him hard and you aren't garanteed to take him out or stop him, this is why when you do block, you quickly NEED TO LOCK ON TO THAT HAND ! A good knife fighter is fluid, not stab, chamber back, stab, chamber back, stab. Nobody does this.
It is possible to stop the initial attack without controlling the knife. The basic Krav Maga defense is block with the left hand ,punch to the face with the right and then TRY to get control of the knife hand.Crude but it works better than most fancy disarms that I have tried.
You guy know lagend about boogeyman.
This is martial art what boogeyman use. The true nama is bugis man..but westerm call boogeyman, that is historic about boogeyman.
His locks and throws and other things are great, but the knife defense is going to get someone killed.
There are so many things wrong with this. Its very fancy and I doubt he has ever had a real encounter with someone trying to stab him because in reality its never going to work.
Richard, you can talks all days and years! I suggest you go and meet him and find out if it works or not! Before you can conclude your statements.
@@johntak9 actually i can conclude my statements based on 2 real world incidents with regards to knives and many years of teaching and pressure testing from training in combatives. When adrenaline gives you tunnel vision, the shakes and your fine motor skills are narrowed down to gross motor movements, then you are forced to make decisions and gross movements very quickly under extreme pressure at a time when you can't think very clearly. The problem with this type of stuff is that there is no consequence involved e.g no respect for the knife and the damage it can and will do when someone is coming at you with the violent intent to murder you. There are many other factors to also consider. Also teaching people to break necks and thrusting knives into people is going to get you a one way ticket to prison for a very long time even if it was in self defence.
@@richardturner8388 Thanks for the reply, Respects to you sir. Best wishes
@@johntak9 no problem mate. Healthy debate is always good and respect to you too. Thanks also for your input
@@richardturner8388 @@richardturner8388 I understand your point. But keep in mind this martial arts are born in the time where modern law haven't exist yet. You on your own in the 14th century to 16th century Malayan kingdom especially on seas where pirates are a skilled fighter as well. Maul Mornie had said before he's promoting culture and history of the art, not as an actual self defense although most of them are effective for it.
All this fency moves make no sense. My predicition is: in a real knife attack he is dead very fast. I dont believe, someone can defend against a knife attack.
