Did a few concerts with Manchester CWS with Derek conducting. What a lovely man, and such a brilliant cornet player, as was the other guy in the photo at 0.57 Jim Shepherd. Jim was my inspiration as an aspiring cornet player, but both of these cornet legends were the most humble, honest down to earth blokes you could ever wish to meet. I felt I was in the company of gods, my hero's when I was lucky enough to be on the same stage as them, although they didn't see it in the same way I did.
What can you say but brilliant playing and at 65 years young, well done sir.👏
