    You gotta put slits in the Taylor ham to stop it from cupping like that in the pan.

    Now I'm craving scrapple! Its been awhile since I checked, but I know a few years ago certain local stores near me (Ohio) started selling scrapple. I think I'll have to check next time I make it out to those stores. I've never had the Taylor Ham but it looks good!

      You should be able to get it just based on your proximity to Pennsylvania.

    I live in NJ. Pork roll, egg, and cheese is the killer breakfast sandwich here! Sometimes for lunch, I'll leave off the egg and make a quick pork roll and cheese sandwich. It's awesome. Nothing quite like it.

      @@TrippyFood Boars Head now distributes it to the west coast,look for near the Boars head section in the deli, I’m from Jersey and we treat ourselves once in a while,being they charge $12 lb. Here in AZ.

      Lol, anytime someone asks me what scrapple is, I tell them it's one of those foods that can taste good (depending on personal tastes) but you really don't want to know what is in it.

    I’ve only tried scrapple once. It’s really hard to find here in Indiana. It was OK, I just wish it held together better. When I tried to cook it, it just turned to mush.
    What makes Taylor ham different than any other ham? Is it similar to spam? If that’s the case, I’m sure I would love it! Spam is probably one of my favorite breakfast meats, just after bacon.

      Taylor ham is similar to SPAM in that it's chopped and pressed (which is why they call it pork roll). Definitely try it if you can find it.

      Several on my mom's side of the family lived in Delaware for many years so scrapple was a special treat anytime we visited. There are tricks to prevent scrapple form turning to mush. The basics included cutting it into thicker slices when it is very cold and pan frying it it in butter. Then don't mess with it too much so it creates a crust that helps it stay together when you flip it. I'm sure there are more/better tips out there too, that's just what I remember.

      Moonlight Purrfection I also coat the sides with a little bit of flour. I definitely let it sit until one side is really crunchy before flipping it like you said. I think that’s the most important step.

    I’m from jersey and have been eating Taylor ham egg and cheeses my whole life. I didn’t learn about scrapple till I moved out of state. Ive never even seen it before.

      I’m sure it tasted good still because taylor ham is freaking amazing but here’s some tips to do it the right way next time...the Jersey way.
      You cut the taylor ham too thick and nobody eats the end usually cause it don’t cook right. If you can, get it presliced in the box next time. You undercooked it as well, it’s supposed to be a little well done. NOBODY puts lettuce or mustard on taylor ham in Jersey; sometimes ketchup or a tomato but 99% just do th, egg & cheese. And nix the hot sauce next time. Try it the Jersey way next time and your belly will thank you.

      Pork roll egg and cheese on a round roll is the only way! Egg a little runny. Salt pepper ketchup always. Hash brown on top if you are a real one lol

    Is Taylor ham different from Canadian bacon?

      Yeah, there's more texture to Canadian bacon. Taylor ham is more like a cross between Canadian bacon and bologna.

    Hi silver fox 😎 My husband & I have had Scrapple . We tried it years ago & my husband liked it & me, not so much lol I don't like that earthy taste or the way it crumbles up & falls apart when you're frying it up. I made it the same as you, fried it up with some fried eggs. I would probably give it another chance, maybe on a burger & maybe with the grape jelly. Funny thing, my husband thinks I'm strange lol because on rare occasions when I do eat breakfast I like a piece of toast with a little butter & some grape jelly & a fried egg on top with my Frank's RedHot Sauce, OMGosh it's so good ! I know it's a weird combination but it's so yummy 😋 Secret Aardvark Habanero Hot Sauce is in my top 5 favorite Hot Sauces ! I even put it on my baked Potatoes ! I love that stuff ! They don't sell it in our stores tho, I buy it on Amazon. Another UA-camr that I've been watching for years & years told his viewers about this sauce & Ive been buying it ever since. Do you know Jeff ? A.K.A. Cutlerylover ? He is awesome ! He recommended another Hot Sauce, a Mustard based Hot Sauce & it's delicious & the name of it will crack you up lol it's called "Professor Phardtpounders Colon Cleaner " New & Improved all natural Hot Sauce Elixir of Capsaicin extremus. I get mine on Amazon but they also have a website Saucecrafters.com Or phone 561-848-2335.
    We've never tried the Taylor Roll before & Ive never seen it but if we see it, I'll try it !
