Imagine having a fractured cheekbone and herniated disc, but the man in your corner trying to force you to fight. True definition of criminality and neglect of duty.

He almost died, I respect him, He took the most humiliating option. It was the hardest decision in his life, the man stepped in the ring, took a beating and went back in for seconds. Yes he quit in the first round but he still went in, How are they questioning his character. As a former Pro MMA Fighter I really feel his trainer was negligent in forcing him into the second round. He could havee really gotten hurt bad going out there like that. Also a trainers 1st obligation is to the safety of his fighter. I get trying to talk him into going back out but when he is adamant about not continuing the fight should be stopped. Galota's previous notoriety followed him around but only *he* knew of his limits. There is NO cowardice here! Just a man that was already badly hurt: fractured cheek bone, a herniated disc and already suffering a concussion from the blows he received... This guy had given what he had to give, and was actually smart enough to know that he was done and that continuing the fight was 100% unnecessary & would just destroy him and most probably have left him with permanent brain injuries... Nah bruh🤦🏽♂️ they both said that they won’t go for the kos and we don’t know Tyson’s staminaor how well he could actually fight(at this age), he only showed small clips
He realized he had no chance of defending against a faster man and was seriously hurt by the power. Survival instinct kicked in, no shame in that really.
Mike always knew he had already won even before the fight had begun. The outcome of the fight was never a question for him. It was only how quick would he take his opponent out. Neither a height or strength of the opponent ever mattered to him. He was going for their soul.
As soon as Mike left Kevin Rooney everything started going down hill. It's a real shame. I believe if he would have continued with Rooney he would have retired undefeated. After Rooney he lost his head movement and became completely unprofessional in his training and competing

Yes and I think it affected Mike a lot when Cus Dmato passed. He did well but he goofed around and lost some of discipline. And he lost 3 good years of his prime in prison which was unfortunate.
@RockPolitics I agree, you cant party and take drugs and expect to stay at the top of the game. When he fought Holyfield he wasn't the fighter he was before his 3 yrs. in prison, which is also sad. Like Ali he spent 3 prime fighting years inactive.
Shock, some people are not there for the sport, but for blood and death. It is a fine line fans of boxing dance upon. I am glad Golata knew his limits.
When you are injured, you do what your body tells you to do. Golota showed heart in one important way: he followed his mind and went to the doctor. More athletes should do the same.
When I saw that hit land.... my brain equated it to falling off a ten story building and having *JUST* your head smack the side of a concrete over hang.... and judging by the fractured cheek bone, herniated disk, and concussion... yeah... that's what a Tyson shot feels like.
My uncle was in the 7th row at the Tyson/Golata fight and he said that the sound of Tyson's punches landing from the beginning of the fight made everyone beside him wince and say "oh my GOD!"
I cannot stand this whole "hate culture" towards a man who forfeits mid fight. If he feels damaged to the point of danger why MUST he continue? We forget, this is a SPORT and not some gladiator fight to the death. Imagine he says "End the fight" gets pressured to continue and dies later on.. what then? We still gonna judge him? Nobody knows a body like their own body and if Golata felt he couldn't continue out of danger for his own life then we should respect that.
To you, it may be a sport. To fighters , when they're in the ring , and when that bell starts ringing , it's either kill or be killed. You need to have a killer's mentality if you want to be at the top
Alex Ong that still doesn’t explain why he has to continue.... if he’s done then he’s done. No one gets to say anything but the fighters. They put on the show so they decide how much they’ll endure. What are they gonna do? Beat him so he’ll keep fighting?
110% agree always said myself. Don king. Robyn givens, and dezeree Washington are all a bunch of fuckers. If it wasn’t for them 3 he would’ve been 0-0 not a loss or draw. He was the best of his era. And most importantly if Rooney stayed w him he woulda smashed Holyfield and Lennox standard no one can argue that, besides he was not at all fit to fight Lennox in 2003 like he did. He was in a state. His mental health was underground. Totally. But I do think rather than being negative and reminiscing, For 2020 he’s done well I have to say, he’s damn well brought it right back. At 54 he looks better than any 23 year old I know. Th em guy has literally accomplished so much in his life and holds so many world records That still haven’t been broken till This very day and I don’t think personally ever will be. Yes he had bad dark very dark days and times. But he’s still here that’s all that counts. Good on iron Mike Tyson.
As I see it, Andrew Golota knew it was over after feeling that first hit. Remember, he lost two Championships because of dirty tactics, but was unprepared for an opponent who's punch can actually break bone. Once that hit connected, he was basically done for. He knew he was not going to survive the onslaught. He realized that it was better to throw in the towel and still have a recognizable face, that to throw it all away just to seem tough.

Today is exactly one year from Maxim Dadashev's death in the ring. Don't judge boxers when they wanna live and not die there
But no some people in the comment section apparently wanted him to die in there, i mean this isn't the gladiator days we evolved passed that stage, maybe don't give the guy recognition, but atleast stop shitting on him man. Most of these keyboard warriors would live in fear for the rest of their lives if they even took a single punch in the ring.
Skidrow vast majority of gladiators didn't fight to the death. The commenters are actually regressing to an even more primitive time in history.
Broken Zygomatic bone, cervical bone, and concussion during the fight then asks his corner to stop the fight, I give Golota a pass on this one. He is still a dirty fighter that had unfulfilled potential.
I've always wondered if those low blows were his way of throwing the fight, maybe because there was some mob intervention.
Cervical bone ?...where did you get that

ALL he had to do was not punch him in the balls lol. Noticed his punching bag had shorts on it tho lol. His trainer prolly didnt know.
Insane how Mike Tyson’s said before the fight “it’ll last as long as it takes to kill somebody” and if golota would have kept going it could have actually killed him, Mike tyson wasn’t lying

I have to respect anyone with the courage to get into the ring in the first place with Iron Mike. It takes tremendous guts. Greetings from Arizona.
Honestly props to him for having the courage to say "enough is enough", be forced back out and to keep fighting. That he went out again after he had decided it was over, and showed he could fight Tyson, that demonstrates its no cowardice - he just knew he had taken too much damage, he knew he had lost.
It’s so crazy to me that grown men that know how to fight, and fought all their lives. Even they are afraid of Tyson
I really think it had to do with the vertebra displaced Iv always wrestled but tweaked my neck and its a pretty scary feeling unlike being rocked or sheer pain its different and life altering!!!
The problem in this fight was his shitty corner.. If you get massively injured in a fight, it is the corners biggest responsibility to protect you. And this corner was just ignoring him.. total garbage. Besides, in heavy weight boxing many people are afraid of the competition. They just would never show that, but that is one of the main reason that the boxers appear to be such egomaniacs.. they have to convinve themselves constantly that they are better. Also, Mike Tyson said that he was afraid before every fight.
@@oooBASTIooo he really should have said my neck hurts and I'm worried I think that would cleared things up or at least tempered the hatred he got after he quit
@@wonderingwonderer3747 I'm pretty sure that he told the corner that.. He is not the most vocal person out there, but a coach who trains a fighter for a while should know how he acts and if something is odd. and then do the right thing.
@@oooBASTIooo Ya it really sucks I was hating him as a coward rite till the end when I heard he had a damaged vertebra, then i felt like a an ass and I actually think he made the right decision.
No one ever steps into the ring for a "game" of boxing. It's a hard lesson in your own abilities & shortcomings & there's no hiding places. Anyone who stepped up to face Mike Tyson has my respect as they knew beforehand what he was capable of & what the likely outcome of a fierce punch to the head is. Galota's previous notoriety followed him around but only *he* knew of his limits. Boxing on against Tyson with injuries such as he had could've been fatal & whilst it's easy to call someone a coward, it's impossible to really know Galota's mental health.
Don King was lying. He has robbed so many of his boxers.

I don't blame him, because you know when your hurt and can't go on.
"Despite his post fight medical showing a fractured cheekbone, a herniated disc, and a concussion, many still questioned Golata's mental aptitude and ability to deal with genuine adversity."
screw those many.
Really messed up . People have died with less
Screw them multiple times
I was there that night. I knew he was going to quit after Mike landed the first body shot. I don't blame him I would have quit too.
With someone as dangerous as Tyson, it's important to know when to quit to not only avoid suffering career ending injuries, but life long disability!
Don't forget he suffered those injuries in the firat 2 rounds with 10 to go. I don't blame him.
Now he's fighting Roy Jones man, about to be a murder, gonna miss Roy 😭

@Bartandalus Blue one is way bigger than the other
Nah bruh🤦🏽♂️ they both said that they won’t go for the kos and we don’t know Tyson’s staminaor how well he could actually fight(at this age), he only showed small clips
I love how the ‘fans’ are throwing stuff at him as if they have the bollocks to step in the ring with tyson😂
That why they pay to see who stupid enough to go in
Or get in the ring with the (coward) bet they quit before he did with mike.
They wouldn't even step into the ring with Andrew G.
He realized he had no chance of defending against a faster man and was seriously hurt by the power. Survival instinct kicked in, no shame in that really.
When Tyson fights, he isn’t just looking to win but to really hurt you.... I’d quit too lol
Boxing a deadly fight
To whoever calls this man a coward, I'd like to see you survive in the ring with Mike.
I'd like to see you get disappointed for a fight you paid cuz the fighter didn't want to continue to fight

“I wanna eat their kids” - Iron Mike
I mean even Mike Tyson doesn't agree with half the shit he said and did when he was younger
Don King is the one that convinced Tyson to get rid off Kevin Rooney. I think it went all down hill when he had Don King in his life.
Facts. And don king being the devil he is as the other commenter mentioned. Don king ruined so many fighters. Look at how he abandoned Gerald McClellan for instance. He's literally a vegetable now in Freeport Illinois.
Just looking at Mike through my phones screens makes me wonna quit 😂
Lmao 😂
I was worried for a sec when this got removed. Thank you for uploading good sir!
I've had a broken cheekbone and fuck getting hit in that spot a second time! Crazy people think that it's a game!
They crazy
Nope, they don't think it's a game...
They've just seen Rocky too many times.
When someone that big says they don’t wana keep going clearly the other dude is a real threat
When I saw that hit land.... my brain equated it to falling off a ten story building and having *JUST* your head smack the side of a concrete over hang.... and judging by the fractured cheek bone, herniated disk, and concussion... yeah... that's what a Tyson shot feels like.
"They can keep that title, I wanna strip them of their health" Yeeeeesshh Mike always cold af
Who knew a convicted rapist and wife beater was a bad guy.
My uncle was in the 7th row at the Tyson/Golata fight and he said that the sound of Tyson's punches landing from the beginning of the fight made everyone beside him wince and say "oh my GOD!"
Mike Tysons power and braveness at his prime was inhuman. Unbeatable for sure!
People said he was a coward for quitting, but you dont know the pain that he gone through in the ring.
@@Boosted_aj nothing's wrong with that, but it only shows that he doesn't have the potential to be the best in the business.
Exactly
Alex Ong if he continued he may have been seriously hurt. It was the right thing to do
That punch that put Golata down was like a southbound freight train doing 80 it stopped him dead in his tracks I can only imagine how it felt

If Mike Tyson stayed with Kevin Rooney an never went to prison he would’ve beat Lenix Lewis
He would have beat LENNOX LEWIS EASY if he would have kept his original team. KING 👑 and GIVENS RUINED MIKE TYSON
Donald Whitten I agree don king was a leech and he dragged Tyson down
Would have beat the brakes and belts off'em
All fighters have their peaks and falls, dont be an idiot
I respect a man who knows his limit
Call me a coward, but I'd quit if I were him under that circumstances
As I see it, Andrew Golota knew it was over after feeling that first hit. Remember, he lost two Championships because of dirty tactics, but was unprepared for an opponent who's punch can actually break bone. Once that hit connected, he was basically done for. He knew he was not going to survive the onslaught. He realized that it was better to throw in the towel and still have a recognizable face, that to throw it all away just to seem tough.
Man I have respect for anyone who went up against Tyson and came out walking. Mike fought people mentally and physically. Anyone who talked smack against him was too scared to even face him.

The thing thats so intimidating about Mike is you will NEVER see a hesitation or a doubt in his eyes when he says something he means it.
Dude did absolutely nothing wrong- Mike hurt him BAD. If he kept fighting, he could have sustained a life-changing injury. There’s no cowardice in recognizing when you’re completely outmatched, especially after the dude literally breaks your face in round 1
I seem to remember Tyson saying similar things between rounds in either the Holyfield or Lewis fight. "I can't do it" etc when he was taking a beating.
