7:35 "It's a historical event, started over 40 years ago" -- which is a commentary on how old I'm getting. When I lived in Mammoth Lakes there WAS no motocross event, so for me that's something "new." OTOH, it's been 51 years since I last lived in Mammoth, and I barely recognize the place. Population was 800 when I lived there in the early 70s; about 15X that now. The extent and pace of development for me at least has been staggering. The cabin we owned is long gone; was located right behind The Village, now been replaced by a monstrous home. BUT....the condo unit we owned is still there, right _next_ to The Village. Blows my mind. Dave McCoy put Mammoth on the map, and helped turn it into a go-to outdoor rec mecca. My favorite place in all of CA.

I sure hope Mike soaks his finger (stuck with hook) into peroxide for hours, to ensure he doesn't get infection. Worries me, after saving my fellow from a brown poisonous spider bite on his leg. Peroxide in magical. LOVED seeing the scenery, Thanks for sharing your walk with your babies the doggies. Gorgeous, absolutely Gorgeous area you live in! I pray you never repeat a winter as you experienced last winter, when I found your channel. Your work was astounding, and I'll never forget seeing the buried cabins, with on the chimneys showing. God Bless!!!! FISH ON THE GRILL- looked wonderful!

Just a heads up. Keep an eye on tropical storm Hillary which will likely become a hurricane in the next day. The models have this system moving up the Baja and moving into southern CA as a tropical storm on Sunday. Models are showing 10-15+" in southern CA into the Sierra Nevadas. If this holds true, there are going to be some serious flash floods in southern CA to southwestern NV.

The architect on the house has earned his keep...coming together along with the pad taking shape, and are those trout Bionic Kokanee? Or a different Atlantic Salmon offshoot? They never get that big in Oregon! Love the lemon/onion idea, as did sniiffin' Sadie!

Last video I watched was immediately after the second machine got stuck in the mud at the June Lake project. Looks like you got it out but I am curious if either machine was salvagable? Looks like you've made great progress in drying the site out and creating a building pad, I'm also curious what kind of drainage systems you put in place under the pad to prevent future subsoil water compromising the bearing strength of the soils?

1:45 I put a fish hook 🪝 through my fingernail in summer camp. The nurse drove me to the emergency room where they cut it half. This was over 50 years ago and I haven’t touched a hook since then!

12:03 With a strong El Niño setting up I think your chances of a repeat of last winter are pretty decent. I'd consider the cutoff low offshore to be somewhat anomalous for August, but it's not unheard of.
We finally got our heat wave up here in western WA this week; by our standards it's been pretty brutal, but overall I think this year's El Niño is setting up to give us up here a relatively dry Winter and _you_ guys should be getting pretty epic rain and snowfall. We'll see how it shakes out.

I live in western WA because I hate the heat, but here it is! LOL I don't know about you, but I grew up here and our summers over the last few years have been nuts! I think this is our new norm.

@@SuziPooziI grew up in SoCal but I'd always been drawn to the PNW, partly because of the climate up here. When I settled in Clark Co. I was immediately introduced to how hot it _can_ get here.
Before this current heat wave I was diggin' the summer here; we'd been under the influence of low pressure offshore and a reliable marine push every day, and by comparison the summer had been cooler than most. So this heat wave was like getting hit by a brick.
_Nothing_ will compare to the Heat Dome of 2021; that's the new standard by which all future heat waves will be judged. This current one was a record-setter but it'll never compare to 2021 and I don't ever want a repeat of _that._

    • @SuziPoozi

@@briane173 the super hot weather is definitely not what I grew up with. Traditionally, it would be rain until after the 4th of July and somewhere we'd have up to a week that was in the 90s and the rest of the summer would be in the 70s and 80s with some rain tossed in here and there. If you wanted the hot weather we got now, you would drive over to Eastern Washington for it. Over the last couple years we've had a couple of big wildland fires which we've never had in the past on this side of the mountains. There was a big one in Lakewood yesterday that was pretty scary. I'm wanting my old weather back. LOL

@@briane173 Oh no! I didn't hear about that one, the one we had here was a big deal in our local news. I'll have to look online and check it out.
