Fun fact: the boss fights in the first few levels were not in the game when those chapters were released, hence how weird and buggy they feel compared to the newer chapter boss fights. Originally, all the levels just ended with the dark boss just chasing you back to the start.
@@unixerse297 From what I understand Chapter 1 and 2 were really really successful, and basically provided a whole lot of funding for the development team. So starting in Chapter 3, they upped the quality and content in the levels. Boss fights is one new thing they added starting with the Duck level, but the cutscene animations also improved a ton.
@@unixerse297 In addition to what UnIxerse, I believe a lot of the content - or at least the concepts of the bosses - was inspired by/taken from their multi-player in universe game Monsters and Mayhem. Its like, same maze type set up and levels, but its multiplayer where youre either trying to take each other out, or some other team based goal, if memory serves. They were all in that game as like, map events, basically. At certain times the boss would spawn and make life harder for all players. From what I know, I believe that basically so many fans loved the bosses that they got put in the main game.
I love this game and it's very unfortunate that each new chapter takes half a decade to be released but the moment it's even announced, the game takes over UA-cam haha

i’ve realized the logic of spiff’s channel is as follows: 1) find game to speed run. do pretty well 2) learn what makes the game tick and how to pare out anything not completely necessary to the run 3) speed run with a better time with this knowledge 4) use said knowledge to show off what of the game you can cut entirely (fnaf sprintless, jumpless, and freddyless; poppy out of bounds/skips) 5 optional) find what breaks when the game isn’t played right and make even more challenges out of that (gigamonty -> monty mod) 6 very optional) get familiar enough with a game to play it blindfolded (little nightmares, poppy 1&2) it’s not always this formula, but i’m excited for what spiff’s gonna break next if i’m right
Dark Deception is one of those games that made me realize there is a lot of untapped gameplay in horror. It's a genre with low barrier to entry but often has walking and puzzles as the main gameplay. While DD is a more Arcade/Pac-Man horror. There are some really cool innovations in the scene though. There's things like LIDAR, Iron Lung, and tons of cool genre blends. Theres Horror dating sims, pet sims, management sims, and vehicle operation types. There's also plenty to be explored in horror genres like home invasion, mundane work horror, social horror, and multiplayer horror. Sadly most indie devs don't have the resources to both really explore alternatives while still keeping the horror good.
And you have to think how devs and others would think of it. If it acts too much like some other games it's glowstick getting called out for copying a different game even if they split it up ( they do have a DD MP game tho) they'll still have to deal with what's good and how to put that into the game
Another example is The Forest, and I think survival horror like that could be amazing. Unfortunately, the only kind of scary part in that game was the ending boss fight.
It's a pretty popular game tbh, and I'd bet many popular youtubers know about it already. Only downfall it has is that it gets updated every century, but they've always delivered everytime, so no complaints there.

I've never actually seen levels with all unlocked abilities, and honestly, the first two levels are incredible! I love how it kinda changes the way you play these corridory maps
as much as i adore this game, i agree that the nurses are the worst level. i legitimately forgot about it for months and, once i saw the new stages had released, i was so excited to see (what i thought would be) a run down and barren hospital only to be hit with fnaf security breach 2
Personally I loved that level (even though it's a pain to S rank) and I think Glowstick didn't go for the run down barren hospital theme because it's all too common in horror and you don't really see a hospital in good condition in horror very much which makes it unique and different.
I disagree with it being the worst level. It was the buggiest. I agree with that one. But its not to be compared to fnaf security breach. Also zone 2 did offer a dark prison type hospital experience. The hospital is something far more unique compared to what we have experienced.
@@thegrandatm1844 Id say monkey business is the worst level because their ai is very unbalanced and overpowered and the game doesnt give you anything to counter them. With the gold watchers you can look at them and you also get two power ups. So it is more balanced in a way. With the monkeys you just have to hope they dont unpredictably pop up in front of you and bullshitly corner you. Its luck based.
I just want to say that the programmer for this game is not at fault for how buggy it is. He basically has to program and test the entire game all on his own. Chapter 3 especially was announced _well_ before it was ready to even start being tested.
I mean...dude...just because you're one person doesn't erase your responsibility for the quality of your game. I'm not shitting on him, just saying. If he needs help testing, he can probably rope in some dedicated community members for free.

Dark deception is like anything good in life, it comes out, and you love every second of it. Then you don't get anything new for 30 years and forget it exists, until something new does come out and it's like there was no gap and u just go right into it
if you like the "pacman but scary" aspect you might enjoy It Steals; that game pulls off a way scarier vibe with it imo, and the mechanics are super interesting

It Steals has a tighter gameplay loop, more focus on the mechanics, and has a consistent environment that fits the game. it's much smaller scale but it's more precisely designed imo. you can watch Pastra's video on it if you're interested, or Markiplier has played it too

Dark Deception was a game I saw years ago and thought it was interesting, but then I didnt see it again until only recently. It looks like they did a good job though. It would have been easy to just do the first person pacman with reskinned enemies and level design.

I love pomegranate, it's great for so many reasons My 3 main reasons 1. Great taste 2. (If you're opening it yourself) It's a nice, calming activity and it's nice to do while you're watching something (like Spiff's videos) 3. It's a healthy snack
While I love watching people play this game since I cannot due to motion sickness, I cannot help but be invested in the fruit conversation. 1. Did you know that you can cook soup with watermelon rind? Just remember to cut out the hard exterior so that it's just the green flesh. Also, do not gorge on it too often or you will end up like my sister with unexpectedly painful cramps. 2. The best way to enjoy kiwi fruits with skin is to scrape off the fuzz with the edge of a spoon so that your mouth doesn't get carpet burns. talking about pens and getting inked reminded me of a cruel prank my cousin played on me. i was a very dumb and naive kid and my cousins and friends always took advantage of that. once, my cousin told me that gel pen ink was edible, uncapped the back part of her gel pen and ate/drank/slurped the ink, and said how tasty it was. i had the same exact gel pens at home, i did the same thing she did, i puked pink and yellow ink all over the bathtub, and i got spanked for attempting to poison myself. my cousin played dumb when i tattled on her and i got even more in trouble when she denied it. what my cousin did was she took her gel pen, unscrewed it, poured Pixie Dust candy in it, then screwed back on the silver tip where the ball point goes. i only figured it out (in my adulthood) after remembering her gel pen ink was multicolored, the same exact 3-4 colors of Pixie Sticks

@@nevergame_ It's not completely the same. There are a few differences. For one, each enemy has a different mechanic and each level has different traps and amount of shards. There are more differences than those, but I just wanted to mention a few :)
I personally never ate playdough, but I can understand why people do. It's brightly colored, the texture of peanut butter, and it's called play DOUGH, they were basically asking people to eat it
The giant nurse fight hits seem to not register sometimes because she follows you, and it takes time for those hits to register, so if you go to the opposite side before she gets hit, she will move and not be hit.
I've heard of this game, but I've never actually seen gameplay of it before. I chose to watch this video anyway because of just how gosh darn fun Spiff videos are, and I was right. You also always do a great job of explaining what's going on, so I actually was able to keep up with this video and had a great time watching. Nice one, Spigg, I'll be here for the next run.

Every time I bought a new, clean eraser, i'd draw a cellphone sorta layout on it; numbers, letters and everything. Then i'd pretend to call people on it randomly and have a pretend conversation with the person on the other end of the phone (i'd just talk to myself 😭)

I'm not surprised these speedruns are so brutal; it's quite a difficult game. I really loved parts of _Dark Deception,_ but the controls are truly a sin. The fact that it can require _six inputs_ to activate speed boost is just... insane. I'm on keyboard with 100+ keys; let me bind each power to it's own dedicated key, holy crap. Even a controller has enough dedicated inputs for six abilities.

Tbh i disagree with the hospital being the worst level gameplay wise. I agree that it is the buggiest. But take it from someone whos hit over 600 hours+ on this game and s ranks story mode repeatedly and every day. You ll die a shit ton of times the first times you will play it but after figuring out the patterns of the traps and the nurses it is definetely the easiest level of chapter 4. Requires optimization and smart management of your powers. Whenever i play this level i usually never die a single time. And when i do its ALWAYS my fault. Their invisibilty is way easier to counter than you think. They always follow you and you can predict where they are. You can see the the sparkles from their rollerscates and also constantly use telepathy to see where they are. It is also the most action based level in the game and the animations and attack styles of the nurses are something far more unique compared to the previous monsters. I believe that with the bug fix update this level will gain a lot more attention.

Well DD is more of a spoopy type of horror game which makes sense why some other horror games would be more scarier than it.

While I love watching people play this game since I cannot due to motion sickness, I cannot help but be invested in the fruit conversation.
1. Did you know that you can cook soup with watermelon rind? Just remember to cut out the hard exterior so that it's just the green flesh. Also, do not gorge on it too often or you will end up like my sister with unexpectedly painful cramps.
2. The best way to enjoy kiwi fruits with skin is to scrape off the fuzz with the edge of a spoon so that your mouth doesn't get carpet burns. Nice to hear that Spiff is as lazy as all of us when it comes to preventing potential injuries.

talking about pens and getting inked reminded me of a cruel prank my cousin played on me. i was a very dumb and naive kid and my cousins and friends always took advantage of that. once, my cousin told me that gel pen ink was edible, uncapped the back part of her gel pen and ate/drank/slurped the ink, and said how tasty it was. i had the same exact gel pens at home, i did the same thing she did, i puked pink and yellow ink all over the bathtub, and i got spanked for attempting to poison myself. my cousin played dumb when i tattled on her and i got even more in trouble when she denied it. what my cousin did was she took her gel pen, unscrewed it, poured Pixie Dust candy in it, then screwed back on the silver tip where the ball point goes. i only figured it out (in my adulthood) after remembering her gel pen ink was multicolored, the same exact 3-4 colors of Pixie Sticks

@@nevergame_ It's not completely the same. There are a few differences. For one, each enemy has a different mechanic and each level has different traps and amount of shards. There are more differences than those, but I just wanted to mention a few :)

The giant nurse fight hits seem to not register sometimes because she follows you, and it takes time for those hits to register, so if you go to the opposite side before she gets hit, she will move and not be hit.
I've heard of this game, but I've never actually seen gameplay of it before. I chose to watch this video anyway because of just how gosh darn fun Spiff videos are, and I was right. You also always do a great job of explaining what's going on, so I actually was able to keep up with this video and had a great time watching. Nice one, Spigg, I'll be here for the next run.

Every time I bought a new, clean eraser, i'd draw a cellphone sorta layout on it; numbers, letters and everything. Then i'd pretend to call people on it randomly and have a pretend conversation with the person on the other end of the phone (i'd just talk to myself 😭)

I'm not surprised these speedruns are so brutal; it's quite a difficult game. I really loved parts of _Dark Deception,_ but the controls are truly a sin. The fact that it can require _six inputs_ to activate speed boost is just... insane. I'm on keyboard with 100+ keys; let me bind each power to it's own dedicated key, holy crap. Even a controller has enough dedicated inputs for six abilities.

Tbh i disagree with the hospital being the worst level gameplay wise. I agree that it is the buggiest. But take it from someone whos hit over 600 hours+ on this game and s ranks story mode repeatedly and every day. You ll die a shit ton of times the first times you will play it but after figuring out the patterns of the traps and the nurses it is definetely the easiest level of chapter 4. Requires optimization and smart management of your powers. Whenever i play this level i usually never die a single time. And when i do its ALWAYS my fault. Their invisibilty is way easier to counter than you think. They always follow you and you can predict where they are. You can see the the sparkles from their rollerscates and also constantly use telepathy to see where they are. It is also the most action based level in the game and the animations and attack styles of the nurses are something far more unique compared to the previous monsters. I believe that with the bug fix update this level will gain a lot more attention.
