LOL... Very nice! I pretty much did the same thing after installing the Butler Valley Pan and before installing the EFI Intake... So glad I did it and looks very clean!
I love the look of the wow factor on the younger crowd kids when I pop my hood open on my 79, that Pontiac blue metallic is like none other. Awesome job Monty
Hey Monty those came out beautiful indeed, you know, when Pontiac blue metallic paint cans from the factory I think it was ahead of its time it's a very cool color and it pops on any engine bay.
Yeah, I was shocked at how nice they turned out! On my list is to swap out my chrome intake, for a Pontiac Blue Port Injected manifold... hint, hint... should be a fun video series! Thanks for watching and commenting!
Hey Monty. Would you remember how many cans you used for heads, block, inlet and coolant pump? Need to try and order from abroad and would be nice to get the right amount of paint and primer in one go.
I wish I would have caught you in time. I had a 69 Big Block Charger that I built stout. I had a worked over Edelbrock top end on it. I used a Dremel and ground off all the Edelbrock stuff and used a very rough sanding drum to rough the areas back up. I painted the whole thing Chrysler blue, including the stock valve covers, and went racing. I told the tech guy I brought a helmet. He laughed and said the car was a 15 second car. I was pulling 12's with no fuel pressure at the big end. It was nosing over. I was shifting at 6800 RPMs. The next time I returned he was pissed and teched the hell out of my car. I tried to tell him. LMAO. I guess he didn't notice the Barry Grant Race Demon carb I had on it, or the 4 inch drive shaft I had on it with 1350 Hemi yokes I had custom made. Not to mention the 3500 RPM stall convertor I had in it. Oh, the good ole days.
Another great story! Yeah, I didn't really care about shaving the Edelbrock off... I wanted it finished. Thanks for sharing! And, I'll never race you. ha, ha...
@@FastMonty Thanks for the reply. LOL. I guess I'll leave out the stories of my Holden Commodore SSV. I'll keep watching. Nice job on painting the heads.
Hey Mike, thanks a ton for your videos! Great job - I love watching and must have spent hours on your channel! I am going through the rebuild of a '66 389 after... a failed lifter Do you remember about how many cans of primer and actual color you went through for the whole engine? Is there a good source to check what part of the engine will get what color (what's blue, black, ...)?
Great Questions! I think it was a little over two cans of primer and color for the Timing Chain cover, Water Pump, Heads, and Block. Not sure what source to use to find the original color scheme? Maybe try Pontiac Perfomance? (If it's not already in your shop manual?) If you do find the source, please post it here for others to learn from... Good luck, and thanks for the comment!
Thanks Stephen! I guess I shoulda left a link in the description, eh? Just added it. But, here it is for you too... www.inlinetube.com/products/inl15375 I think you can probably also get it on Amazon or Ebay. Good luck!
Excellent job love it when a plan comes together and with a great attitude to boot!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks! Much Appreciated!

Good question... I'd go with 2 cans of primer, and 3 cans of color. Have fun!

@@FastMonty Thanks! Yup, will post if i cross anything good! Keep up the good work!
Did you etch the heads before painting?
Good question Brad... no. Most primers are "self-etching". Hope that helps.
What primer did you use?
VHT Engine Enamel Primer.. at the 1:35 mark. Thanks!
What was the name the Pontiac blue paint and where can you get it .it came out really nice .
