Try mounting both DCDC chargers on a sheet of 2mm or 3mm aluminium which will act as a heatsink and draw a good chunk of the heat away from the chargers. Worked for my BCDC, it no longer derates.
Hm we did bench test the 1250D on a big metal work bench at 25c ambient temp and derated. Would also be less effective with new chargers as they all have air gap and feet underneath.
@@AlloffroadAu I can only speak to the BCDC1240D which was derating for me after 2 minutes of charging, also just sitting on the bench at 25*C, all the way down to 20-25A. I mounted it to a 300x200 sheet of 2mm aluminium and that did the trick. Although whilst only sitting on its feet, its belly is very close to the aluminium. The aluminium really absorbs the heat. So much so it gets too hot to touch. Cheers
@@AlloffroadAu Also I have 3D printed my own version of the RedTek cooler (which I saw in one of your vids), running with two 80mm Noctua ultra quiet CPU fans. Haven't installed it yet as the aluminium already worked. But will install it soon.
I camped at wattle flat in January 1995 and there were multiple platypus there then. The river was also a lot more log jammed in those days. Also visited again in 2000 - again multiple platypus in the pools at that time.
It's interesting to see these chargers derate. I notice my redarc bcdc50amp can get extremely hot in the vehicle even when it isnt that hot. I'd honestly like to see more cooling on them.

I use my gsi commuter coffee press now for 8 years at home and on the road. Every single day. Press and cup in one. It’s awesome
