    The CSB is another fantastic translation. You should try it sometime. God bless you.

    Their goat skin feels amazing. It’s the hands-down winner.

    Hi, i just ordered this because i had an Amazon coupon, buy i was having trouble deciding on getting this or the Genuine Leather Thinline at a discount. My main concern is that the Buffalo is listed as being an inch thick, whereas the Genuine Leather version is less than an inch thick. If you know, how do they compare to each other? Is it so minimal that it doesn't matter?

    How is the paper quality on the buffalo leather edition? Is it smooth and not crinkly? Is the binding not too tight? I have the ESV Thinline in top grain leather from Christianbook but the paper is wavy to the touch and crinkly and there is considerable cockling at the gutter which irked me.. I can get it to lay flat over time but even then, the gutter cockling issue remains. Now, when I open a bible, I really value how the paper looks along the gutter, on the first few title pages. I love it when paper is smooth and not wrinkled on a bible. That’s quite important to me. And the paper should feel sturdy and be flat after I smoothen it with my palm.

      I had the same issue with my top grain leather thinline. The buffalo leather edition does still sound crinkly along the gutter, but the paper itself does not appear wavy.

    I hate to toot the horn of my NRSVue again but I think it has this one beat. I equally despise red letter text, but the NRSVue made it work in that it has red letters for section headings and chapter numbers, and I absolutely love it. I find that it kind of acts like anchors in a sea of black text. My black leathersoft 10 point font is just as thin, line matched, and has 36 GSM paper with nice bold font, and it can be had for less than $30. Ok, I'm done. LOL but no your ESV is quite lovely too, and I thank you for your review.

      Zondervan does great with their bibles, however, I share a similar conviction about the NRSVue to Mark Ward and Tim Frisch, so it's unlikely I'll ever even own one. Though I do hope to review more NRSV 89 editions in the future

      @@WontonDisciple Fair enough, though Tim Frisch does have an NRSVue himself and reviewed it here on UA-cam, and Mark Ward did state that he would be "well pleased" if all he had was an NRSVue despite his critique of it. Unfortunately, the NRSV 89 will be discontinued according to official sources. :)

    Im looking at picking up this bible and was wondering since this review is a couple months old how do you feel about the ghosting now? Is it pretty distracting or is it something that you dont really notice? and if you consider this a good edition for an everyday carry bible?

    • @WontonDisciple
      @WontonDisciple  8 місяців тому +1

      So sorry for the late response! The ghosting is definitely more noticeable than the 28GSM Indopaque paper I'm used to in my premium bibles. I personally don't find it distracting, but I would certainly recommend going for the Alpha over the thinline if you can afford it, especially because of the line matching.

    The font in most ESV editions is too light. Not dark enough.
