- Fellow Legends, welcome! Today we dive into the sequel to JonTron's original Kid Nation video. Jon brings Jimmy on-set, and with some social distancing, to tell us all about his experience with the Kid Nation reality show. This was wild to hear about even more things that happened, and if you liked this video I absolutely recommend you go and check out the original video to show some support for the source material!

The fact they didn't even do the bare minimum and leave the kids, like, very basic cooking and cleaning instructions so they don't end up drinking bleach... absolutely wild. Maybe have an adult around those stations to make sure things are being conducted safely even if they don't have to end up intervening too much.
In the show, more or less cooking just went to the same 5 ish people, and the team that got cooking, just clean dishes. Especially Yellow team, they are the true villains if they get cooking.
Its blatant that it was meant to cause chaos, they could have gotten leaders experienced in outdoors instead of a politician, spelling bee champ, pageant queen and.. i forgot. They could have a camper/scout, food specialist, motivational speaker and so on, the children even tried to overthrow the council but staff stepped in.
So yeah, it was meant to be shitshow to show how inept children are
Jimmy did indeed tell all. Except what happened to that one kid three years ago.
I still want to know because I'm concerned.
According to TVTropes, that same kid would later mention in a following episode that he had previously been bullied for being Jewish; I wouldn’t be surprised if that had something to do with it.
...All of Kid Nation happened, and they couldn't get ONE boyscout who may at least have SOME experience with cooking or camping..?
It's actually pretty likely that any of the kids with skill weren't put in charge of cooking because they did too well in challenges and didn't have to do labor
they had one kid who was like 14 that worked in a butcher shop (he even killed the chickens they had) but because he was older than most of the other kids his team kept winning challenges and got better jobs
Unfair advantage over the rich family kids seeded to run things at the start
@@roykennedy It is more likely that those kids where taken out after the first casting since it would be more "entertaining" to see the kids struggle. I had a friend who wanted to participate in The Amazing Race with her dad, but were rejected after the first interview because the casters were looking for a more conflictive duo.
We will never know where that one kid was buried.
When I was in basic training, we had a field exercise. Last one of the rotation. It's about a week long. We ate almost nothing but MREs while we were out there. I didn't shit for the first three days, and it was horrendous. Tell you what, though, there's not another shit you'll take in the world that's more fulfilling than a three-day MRE shit. Walking out of that porta-john, I felt alive.
Probably could've built your own tower alone there 😂
And, as I remember, about five pounds lighter
@@ssfbob456 if only it had been five. Felt more like ten.
For the whole show, only 3 kids quit, and that was Jimmy and two other kids. Yeah, later on after Jimmy left the Green Team, the team that he was on was winning tons of challenges.
That quiz game you referred to was The Guy Game. Microsoft didn't develop or publish it, but it was released on the original Xbox.
Story goes that the devs went to South Padre Island during spring break disguised as a TV shoot, and recorded a bunch of drunk girls answering quiz questions and flashing their boobs if they were wrong... and one of the girls they filmed ended up filing a lawsuit against the developers, Gathering of Developers (the publisher), Sony (since it also came out on the PS2) and Microsoft, because she was 17 at the time of filming, thus making the game illegal to own or sell in certain states and countries. A temporary injunction was filed, which stopped new copies from being made, until it was rereleased as a DVD game, with some extra content, and all the offending content removed.
Also, quick fun fact: the founder of Retro Studios, Jeff Spangenberg made that game. He's credited as the Director, Producer, and as one of the designers. It was also technically the first major project he had worked on (that was actually released, anyway) since Turok: Dinosaur Hunter in 1997.
'Kid Nation' was the original alpha for 'Conan Exiles;' change my mind. 😉
I've seen a tower in a toilet before. An old friend of mine who let another of our friends live with him and the former got depressed to the point of not caring while the other just enjoyed a plaace he and his gf could stay all filled it up (it was broken and he never called the complex to fix it). Because of my friends depression he stopped working after getting money from (to you all) an undisclosed source he spent it all on drugs and gas for his car so he coule escape the two people living in his place using his resources. Hes in a much better place now. But i remember seeing it. It was an unspeakable horror show with critters involved. Im so happy he's moved forward with his life now.
I was curious myself on whether or not Jonathan Karsh ever got another directors gig after this show so I looked it up.
He did not 😂
Man..... this is unethical and i see why they're trying to silence reactions. They don't want people remembering their mistakes.
And then along came Jon
I also love reading interviews from people who were on the show and hearing so much shit that happened. All I will say is, irl circlejerk will always live in my head as a real thing
@Cronomancer "He huuurled his feudalism diagram-"
I think the game you were referring to was "The Guy Game" I remember watching a video by Caddicarus about banned video games.
Yeah, that matches.
What's especially freaky: that game was actually made by the guy who founded Retro Studios (the guys behind the Metroid Prime games). He actually got fired from his own company because he was using their servers to host a softcore porn website.
Jontron is an channel of all time
Legendary
ha, spilled beans
Jon and Jimmy were right about CBS burying this thing: it's absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to watch this show in any legal way. Any version you see are bootlegs.
May I recommend One Hit Wonderland Barbie Girl by Todd in the Shadows?
I seriously wonder to this day just how much of the awkwardness in the interview was actually scripted or improvised.
Wait you're not supposed to mix bleach and floor cleaner?
Don't mix stuff with bleach. Bleach + vinegar is chlorine gas, bleach + ammonia is chloramine gas, bleach + rubbing alcohol is chloroform.
Just don't mix bleach with anything is the idea.
17:30 - wait, what happens when you mix bleach with floor cleaner? :0
Chloramine gas, and other danger gases can be created that can burn, explode, harm your respiratory system, and so on.
I don't fully remember so take what I say lightly but if you haven't already looked it up, I think it's bad because it creates a certain toxic gas.
@@starbloom2761Chlorine gas, right?
@kannonball5789 this is what Google says:
When bleach is mixed with ammonia, toxic gases called chloramines are produced. Exposure to chloramine gases can cause the following symptoms: Coughing. Nausea.
You should never mix bleach with any other household cleaners or disinfectants because doing so could create toxic gasses that may be fatal.
Specifically, if the floor cleaner has ammonia in it, it produces toxic gases called chloramines.
