i would want one but that has better quality (i got a a6 2014) i can see some pixels and i want a hd quality do u know of any compatible recomendations?
Yes, anything is possible but it might be quite a complicated process compared to an aftermarket solution. Here’s how you can go about it: 1. Choose the Right Camera Kit You’ll need an Audi OEM backup camera kit that is compatible with the A6 C7 model. The kit usually includes the camera, wiring harness, and module that integrates with the car’s existing MMI (Multi Media Interface) system. Make sure the camera kit is compatible with your specific MMI version (MMI 3G Basic, MMI 3G High, or MMI 3G+). 2. Installation Process Mounting the Camera: The camera is usually installed in the trunk handle. You will need to replace the existing trunk handle with the new one that includes the camera. Wiring the Camera: The wiring harness needs to be routed from the camera in the trunk to the front of the car where the MMI unit is located. This can involve removing some interior panels to hide the wires properly. Connecting to the MMI Unit: The camera connects to the MMI control unit, which may involve installing an additional video interface if your current system does not have one. 3. Coding the MMI System After the hardware is installed, the MMI system must be coded to recognize the backup camera. This usually requires using diagnostic software like VCDS (VAG-COM) or ODIS to enable the camera functionality in the MMI settings. Coding may also involve setting up guidelines and other camera features. 4. Professional Installation vs. DIY While it is possible to do this as a DIY project if you have the necessary skills and tools, I would recommend having a professional handle the installation to ensure it’s done correctly. Professional installation ensures proper integration with the MMI system and avoids potential issues related to wiring or coding. Consider Aftermarket Options If an OEM installation seems too complicated or costly, there are high-quality aftermarket kits (like mine that I ordered from a company called “Unique auto developments”) designed specifically for the Audi A6 C7 that integrate with the factory MMI system. Anyhow, Installing any backup camera can significantly improve the car’s functionality and driving safety.
HI, I have the same car and want add a reverse camara to my retrofitted CarPlay unit, just wondering how you pull the cable from the unit to the back of the car ? Thank you
Hi Abu, it’s kind of difficult but I would suggest you go to an Audi workshop and asked them how to remove the side panels below or above the doors. There are a few ways to do it either above or below the doors. The critical point is the passage through the “arm” of the trunk into the actual trunk. Since it’s a moving part you want to lead the cable through the rubber hose with the rest of the cables. I will try find a video that shows that otherwise you might convince one of the guys in the Audi garage to do it for some money “on the side”.
Hi again, I can see you have a matrix taillights as mine. Just asking what’s the color of the reverse light cable? And secondly did you have to wire the camera with a relay..I have 2017 A6 with RMC unit..do you live in Sweden ? Cause the environment looks as such..thanks
Hey, can you please send me the picture where it shows, how to do the power connection with the backwards driving lamps? That would be very much appreciated!! My aftermarket cam came with a filter, which I am supposed to connect into the powerline and then I need to connect the red cable to the original Audi-cable which activates the backward driving lamp. The black I hope I can simply connect to the metal of the trunk, since it´s supposed to be ground, right? Cheers for any help!!
Halo. How you wired cables from camera side. Just negative "-" to the body? From Carplay side positive " +" to the "REAR 12 V" ? I bought camera , and i have same car and Carplay, but camera doesn` t work. Can you help me?
I hope you received my email. The yellow cable connected to the CarPlay device should connect to the yellow connection for the backup camera (the other yellow one connected to the CarPlay device is for a front camera). if I remember correctly the short red cable connected to the yellow connection should be connected to something named camera/rear/reverse or something like that coming from the CarPlay device and will only give power when you put the car in reverse. On the camera side you connect yellow cable to yellow cable on the camera and the red tiny cable (connected to the yellow one) to the red wire coming from the black connection. The thin black cable coming from the black connection should be connected to ground like in the picture I sent you. Good luck!
Hi! Good video. Im in the process of installing a back up camera too (an add on to my retrofit carplay module) i got the same car as you Audi a6 avant 2018. Do you know what the color is on the cable for the reverse light? Or which pin it is? I don not have a multimeter at the moment. Im assuming black wire goes to a nut in the trunk and the red wire goes to the reverse hot wire. Thanx in advance. And if you happen to be swedish, you can svara på svenska. Ha det gött! 😊🇸🇪
If you don’t have a retrofit Apple CarPlay and backup camera installation and want to install one this is how you do it. ua-cam.com/video/tgYf4G849KQ/v-deo.html @UniqueAutoDevelopments Just search for “Apple Carplay Audi A6 c7” and make sure to choose one that suits your version of Audi MMI. How to change the front view camera of audi A6 2016...??
Sorry, haven’t done that myself

Is there a wider horizontal FOV version out there somewhere? In my Acura you can see the whole 180 degrees sideways, much wider than my Allroad
Sorry, I don’t know
I have a problem with the rear camera code that has not been damaged
Code?

I have a car A6C7 2015 RMC without a camera. A friend gave me an original camera. Can I install a camera? And what is needed for this, only a camera?
Check this site! A camera is not enough. youtube.com/@uniqueautodevelopments
Apparently it’s very common that retrofit backup cameras die in that manner. First random flickering then eventually a black screen.
I'm a little bit disappointed, you didn't put the inner cover back using only one hand ;-) *kidding* great video!
I know :-). After unscrewing the 4 screws you have to use quite a lot of force to pull the cover loose. Those clips are sturdy :-)
It’s an A7?
No its an Audi A6

Thumbs up!
Start from its not genuine camera only Chinese replacement cheap crap ...
Yes retrofit usually is :-)
But I must say it works really really well even though it’s cheap
