- What's up guys! Here is a full installation of us adding a reverse camera to an Audi Q5!
The job was to fit a reverse camera and integrate it to our 10.25 inch android screen.

What's the specs on the camera? You should go into more depth on these install videos if the cameras dont come with detailed instructions. a pillar removal, hiding the wire run from the tailgate to the headliner, running the wire from the a pillar to the head unit and which wire you connected it to. I assume it was the camera +12v wire. Break it into a multipart video if you have to. Itll make it easier for people so they dont have to swap between UA-cam videos to do various parts of the installation.

How do you trigger the system to switch to rear camera? you used the trigger line to support 12v for the camera....

How does the camera know your in reverse? My understanding is they get power directly from the reverse light.. is it different with Audi?
I may have missed it but most installations show a connection to the reversing light so that the camera becomes live when reverse gear is engaged. In this installation, how will the camera operate just by engaging reverse gear? Have I missed it? Thanks.
The unit gives the power needed :) it uses CAN for the signal.

Hallo I had installed the rear camera on my Audi A3 Etron 2015 and connected the red wire to de red wire of the extension cable to the CarPlay and
Connected the red wire on the CarPlay side to the purple wire ( reverse back detected), but I don’t have picture on my screen?
Don’t I need camera power? Of the rear reverse ligth

You must Connect red wire to positive reverse light
A lot of work just for a rear camera, it's a shame Audi are such basic cars, for the money they should all come with rear cameras, fold mirrors, heated seats.
and self driving would be nice
Rear camera and front and rear parking sensors should come standard on all Audi's
I got a 2020 A6 and it does not have a rear camera lol

How do you wire your reverse camera ?
I bought a similar one and I followed the istructions but nothing happens when I engage reverse not even a black screen. Parking sensors are engaging as normal.
The cables are a little diffrent from the ones in the picture but still.
I believe that I haven't done some setings on the unit maybe?
Have you managed to do it? I have the same issue with a back camera from AliExpress

I just installed android 11 HU in my A4 b8 and camera just like that one (ahd). But when i put car in reverse android doesent go to reverse camera, even though mmi goes to parking graphic interface showing parking sensors.

Change camera settings to aftermarket rather than OEM
Thank you this helped me but must’ve have a bad inline fuse because I am getting no signal from the camera.
I can’t figure out the last part on how to ground the wire to the bolt 🙈 if you know of any videos that show that part in little more detail would really appreciate that
Split the red/black wires apart. Ground the black wire under one of the 10mm door latch bolts. Be sure to sand off the paint so the wire is touching bare metal

Hi, I got a carlinkit decoder 2,0 for a Audi A4 b8 and i will mount a revercing camera to it. I gott the RCA kabel and to wire says 12v out to revercing camera and a second ho says Reverce detected. How could i Connect the camera to de carplay decoder

Thank you for the video! Its incredible detail, love how you walk through all the nuisances. Do you have instructions/directions on how to route the wire for Q5 with sunroof ? Its hard to fish the wire from the roof lining
I had to do it in 3 steps. Run the wire on the passenger side. Remove the 2 square trim pieces along the roof liner (there is a flap hiding a T45 bolt). Then you have access behind the headliner in 2 intermediate spots. Fish the wire from one end to that access point. Then repeat to the next access point. I also loosened the C pillar trim and took one trim rivet out to lower to headliner in the rear. Getting around the grab handle by the front seat is the hardest part.

I am fitting the sound systems
I bought a car with this head unit and went to install the backup camera this way. After getting the glovebox off, I discovered they don't have the right wire harness, and that t harness you show in your other video that taps into that red plug isn't plugged in. The harness for the android unit it much larger than the red plug, has a couple more big connectors on it so my car isn't talking to my CAN I don't think. Is there a way to still trigger the reverse camera mode when going into reverse? I tried putting power on the camera det pink wire but it didn't change anything. Was hoping there was a purely aftermarket hookup to power the camera, and provide voltage on a wire to trigger the camera screen like you can on most normal car screen headunits.
