You have lots and lots of nice places to cycle around NYC. Some areas are spread wide open, other pretty dense, when it comes to streets, alleys etc. You could spend a whole day cycling around the city, I mean you have about 50km (20mi) across the city, at least in northish/southish direction. Very nice!
