You can avoid it, by not signing up but that is no guarantee. Another full-scale war of WWII proportions or worse could happen anytime and call up another draft.
Honestly getting yelled at scares the hell out of me but over time and watching a bunch of videos I think it won't be that bad because I know there are others that will be in the same situation as me so that kinda gives me comfort. I just need to work on my confidence and raising my voice and most of all my physical fitness.
@@musicgirl999 Even not joining is no guarantee of not getting yelled at at boot camp. Another war of WWII-scale can happen anytime. Thus, Another draft could happen. The Army gets "yelled" at.... lucky. Oh and if your going to Marine boot camp, you will be using a stamp kit to mark all your stuff. DO NOT use a marker... thats just unprofessional. In Marines, yelling is the normal voice and the then screaming is their loud voice.
Good tips! We did the same things with OCS cadets. One more tip, you might not see a DI or TAC in or around your formation, but know they are ALWAYS watching you. You think they don't see you losing your military bearing when they aren't around? LOL Try it and see what happens.
Dont make excuses even when you're correct in what you're doing, the best answer you can give to end a conversation with a Drill Sergeant is: No excuses, and that goes for the rest of your Military career as well!
Basic is real easy. Keep your mouth shut, do what you're told, be where you need to be when you need to be there in right uniform. Follow those three things and basic will be easy.
I have to agree with you. I haven't left for bct yet (going to benning early next year), but if grown men can't handle being yelled at, how can we expect them to function properly in much more stressful situations such as being deployed? Especially if they are a combative MOS? The only thing my dad really told me was to suck it up and don't quit. You're gonna get yelled at and hate your life either way, but things will suck a bit less if you just do what you're told and not bitch about it lol.
I dont know this is bad for your mental health. In the future, I hope someone or a group of people figure out a way to end enlisting people to the military so they dont have to be put through this abuse and suffer PTSD later in life
I love watching these! I don't know why but I do. Don't worry for any of you going to basic these tips are great! Just remember not to get smug when you get to blue phase! DS is able to take that away with permission from the Captain and you could get stuck going threw basic all over.
He can wear that 1st MARDIV SSI-FWTS "if" he was attached to the USMC as a Soldier. A lot of times it's a prior service USMC guy who doesn't want to be patchless, or doesn't know the regs. I've seen this is a lot with prior service USMC folks in the Guard or USAR. BLUF: He has to take it off if he wasn't a Soldier attached to the USMC.
lol i've seen videos of 7 DI's yelling at one guy so i hope i'm able to handle it. i'm not worried about PT because that's only like 20% of Bootcamp and the rest is mental.
I got yelled at plenty when I was in basic in the Air Force; I wasn't a screw up, it's because I am very tall. I remember one guy in my flight would get yelled at constantly because of his walk, the instructors were always telling him "You coming in here, like George Jefferson...!"
I lived in a giant household full of angry Italians. A yelling voice is our normal voice, a screaming voice is our yelling voice, and when our voices boom, then we are yelling. My family is like a boot camp lmao
Gettin yelled at is not even that bad but u can't avoid it because drill sergeants will set u up for failure alot about small stuff or because of someone else
When there yell as loud as you can. They expect you to yell a lot and loud. Never look a DI in the face, always answer with aye sir, always greet a DI with good morning, afternoon, or evening sir, and never get in a DIs personal space. Focus more on running and passing the initial IST now; don't worry about getting in shape cuz they'll put you in shape.
Jason Infantry im a junior in highschool. You have to be 18 before you are sworn in but i do have 2 friends that are going to Parris Island over summer
Oh ok. I figured you were join or something. Lift weights, do running exercises, and familiarize your self with leadership type positions in school. It will better yourself once you go in.
Act like you know nothing and will do everything the drill Sergeant asks you to do. NEVER volunteer for anything...ever. Do things only when you are asked, but do them right. Don't ever suck ass...you will be looked down upon by your squad. In the Army you don't call a drill Sergeant, SIR. In the Air Force basic training, you better start and end every sentence with "SIR" or they will rip you apart. Remember, it is all a mind game to see if you can make it in Basic Training. Be smart and pay attention to details. You will do fine.
zaneyone1 yeah we had a few kids who thought they were badasses and did the whole "Sir yes sir" thing...The TIs politely told them to stop hanging around Marines, and stop eating the "Sir Sandwich". Lol
We had a few guys try 'sir' on our drill sergeants. Their stock answer...while you were down giving them 20 was, 'Sir?" Sir? I work for a living'! You don't even want to know what happened to the guy who tried 'sarge'.

lol yup

How to avoid getting yelled at.... What are you talking about? There is no avoiding it.
Boom! Exactly!
As the description and video says, there's things one can do to get yelled at less, but there's nothing you can do so you don't get yelled at at all.

DONT VOLUNTEER FOR NOTHING!!!
I can proudly say that 4 years ago I was the first one to get yelled at on zero night, it really set the basis for the rest of BMT for me
Yeah, silly question but this man did give good advice in the answer.

Thanks for the tips! I leave for basic March 19th
Don't standout, neither good or bad.
You do not want to be noticed.

They will, especially if its combat arms OSUT Boot Camp. Basic and AIT combined

What's the story behind the 1st MARDIV combat patch?

How to avoid getting yelled at, don't go in the military! Especially Marines!
I was in the marines and that’s a true statement
I got caught flinching at a Drill Sargent behind his back, but said "I caught a chill Drill Sargent", got away with it ;)..
You cant!!!
I heard they are making it where they can't yell at you anymore.
How to avoid getying yelled at, not be there
I’m in the navy cadets academy and they yelled at all of us and if any of us smiled, we did pushups

"You can't"
or
"Don't join the military."
I will give you the sure fire way you will never ever get yelled at bootcamp. Don't go.
That would be stupid.
