I take care of my early onset dad with Alzheimer's. It's advanced, to the point that you can't get a real cognizant response from him just yes and nos, and it's a terrible thing all around. People don't like to hear this, but I know others in simlae positions totally understand - there are quite a bit of times where I wished he just died. For him and myself as selfish as that may seem...but there is ZERO quality of life there. Will always take care of him as long as I can of course, but my dad as I knew him is gone. Why do we treat animals better than people? There is zero dignity, a lot of old people just get dumped into terrible places bc their family can't take care of them, or even worse they refuse to. My parents gave me a good life and raised me to treat older people with respect, so I literally can't fathom abandoning my dad if I am financially or physically capable of taking care of my own damn family Sorry this long ass yt comment is pretty gay, but so is Alzheimers/dementia
Completely agree with you my friend, we put the animals we love out of their misery if they are suffering... we need to start doing the same for our fellow human beings.
My father and I took care of my grandfather for the last years of his life when the dementia got really bad. I'll always remember my Dad putting the task on me that if he ever got like that I need to push him off a cliff. He was serious.
That plane crash in san diego was right near my high school and since it was directly over a residential urban area there were so many bodies and body parts strewn throughout the neighborhood that they used the basketball gym as a temporary morgue while they sorted through the wreckage and attempted to identify the passengers. I didn't go there at the time but my biology teacher was there that day and said the entire gym was flooded with an inch of blood and looked like a scene out of a horror movie. The gym's flooring had to be replaced because it was permanently stained from the blood.
