I just realized the reference to Call of Home: "Through rubble, rock and stone The ashes are my home The silver sting of hatred It creeps into my bones" has the same melody as "Through river root and stone, the distant call of home."
One thing I love about Tolkien's universe is that it was so consistent, so malleable that others could work with it too. One can learn much by traversing the lands of Middle Earth, even if only through the eyes of another character.
Having now watched Gav's studio video on mixing and layering none of his songs are the same. I keep noticing where the number of voices change, and getting clearer hints of the different instruments. These songs are really impressive.

Finished it too, and I got to ask, what did you think of the end? Personally I hated it, not going into further details to avoid spoiling, and thought it was a lousy ending for such a great game.
Andrew Day In my own opinion i fell like the ending may have been a set up for a possible sequel or a future dlc. The game's season pass was announced early so maybe they intend to do more with it in dlc or ran out of time. I will agree the ending was a let down but i wouldn't mind a sequel as long as they refine a few things (like the ending), I think it would make a good trilogy.

Bob Stamos Yup most people were pretty skeptical, so when the game didn't turn out to be shit it was well received. Seems hype results in disappointment this year. Watch_doge and Destiny were hyped to oblivion and ended up being average.

Game was fun for me cause I like having the opportunity to fight a huge amount of enemies all at once without being too overpowered. It gets the gamer blood flowing, like this song.
+Ignis King u must not have had everything unlocked like I did then cuz the Gravewalker is fucking OP. XD (btw I use Gravewalker to refer to Talion and Celembrimbor together.)
When I listen to a song for the first time, I'm never able to like it on spot, but your music is so much different... I love every single song you've made, can't define why.
Was so excited about getting this game for Christmas. Concept is awesome, but I ended up having a lot of trouble playing it and put it down without beating it.
The game was great imo, but the scaling was absolute garbage. It was super hart at first, forcing me to run away a lot. Eventually, I got something that made it so that whenever i got a combo of 5, i could use whatever ability was the B button and restore 1/2 of my health. Then it went down to a combo of 2 (or 3?). Then it possessed the enemy and turned them to my side. The game became easier than pokemon. Games should get harder over time- not easier.
Just turn off all the things that tell you an enemy's about to attack. I will say that being able to brand enemies in the middle of battle is a bit overpowered. Especially if like me you only have the "heal when you brand" runes on your dagger.
So glad you enjoyed the game enough to make a song of it. Loved this game way more than I expected I would, was a bit skeptical because I'm one of those lore guys, so I didn't go in expecting to enjoy it, however I can say I liked it enough as its own story to put the "canon" issues behind me, and just enjoy the game. In fact, when I heard the opening to this song, wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it, so its kind of cool that you've managed to capture what the game did to me where I enjoyed it more than I expected. Also that link to the hobbit song, without making it the exact same lyrics made this feel such a great song. TL;DR I guess I'm saying, thanks for the great song about the great game!
miracleofsound just got it off band camp. Downloaded the app so I could get your songs. Would love to see you team up with fellow youtuber Karliene Reynolds. I think you could do a great duo. Can't wait for your next song
"earth and root and tree will burn in the fires of industry" Nice one Gav. Before listening to this, I had considered "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" by Blind Guardian to be the best musical tribute to Middle Earth ever. Now...I can't really choose. I guess you're both awesome ,and I'll leave it at that. Rock on Gav- your music is that good that I'm starting to believe you just might be one of the Valar in disguise.
This song just made me realise, do Talion's weapons symbolise the holy trinity..? Dagger of the son, sword of the father and bow of the spirit? (Granted, it's not a holy spirit, but still).
He could represent god before he saw noah. Before talion met the people of the sea of numen everyone he saw in mordor was cruel and wicked so his plan kill everything. Before god saw noah he was just gonna let everything die however he realized there was some good in the world and spared noah and his family
Ethan Rae That is a very good point. After Talion reaches the sea he begins to enlist orcs, almost as if he's converting them to his faith. The newfound faith given to him by the queen (representing Noah) as God (Talion) realises that the orcs (human race) can have some belief towards Talion's power and use it for good. I might have to enlist MatPat here...
Something I came up with while playing the sequel. This song makes me want to play the game, but I don't have money to buy it. I'm also a mild LOTR fan, but seriously; This is fantastic. You are awesome. Keep awesome.
My new best song from Gav. I love that you can after many years still go better and better. Request: Since alot dark RPG coming, I would love to hear more metal oriented stuff from you.
Wow, that was great. This was my favorite movie franchise and I loved the game. Honestly the words capture the true and total essence of the game. Great Job.
I love how he remixed 'Call of Home' at 3:42 where you see Gollum climbing the wall. And I LOVE that in the Call of Home Video the Gollum scene also starts exactly at 3:42. Oh Gav, you love to place easter eggs, don't you? :)
I always thought they could've done way more to make the Black Hand a good rival for what he was supposed to represent. I know what I would've done. So, a moment of silence for the Magnificent Bastard who never was.
+SecondDeath777 I DO wish we could've had a sword fight with the Black Hand BEFORE he fused with Celebrimbor and became Sauron and we had to finish a QTE.. I didn't MIND what we got, but I wish that we got the epic duel with the Black Hand that we were pretty much expecting and anticipating the whole game too along WITH the Sauron QTE.
It is a very fun game I suggest renting it if you want to give it a taste (if that is still a thing these days.....) however I hear last gen doesn't have the nemesis system fully implemented which is probably the best part of the game even though it is a tad simple at times
Cael Bravery Good idea :P Great game if you love manipulation however I wished they would open the floodgates for mods since the nemesis system would be awesome in several other universes like a song of ice and fire or 40k
TheSpoonyCroy I thought that, if this could be made to go into another complicated universe with deception and betrayal, it would make it even greater than it already is!
darkabysskiller I would love to have a shadow organization simulator where you can start as a grunt and work your way up or start out as a boss of a small group and build yourself up to become a world feared organization :P
do you know that awesome feeling when you wake up on your birthday and the first thing you see is that your favorite musician uploaded a new freaking awesome song^^? i love how you used Call Of Home for some parts :) it sounds just perfect
I've said it before and I'll say it again - fantasy suits you like The Ring suits Smeagol (in a good way)! :P Also, love that little sprinkle of Call of Home in this song. Amazing work as always! :)
Must've listened to this song a dozen times in the last hour...damn you, YOU TOOK AN WHOLE HOUR OUT OF MY DAY AND I WANT IT BACK... Eh, never mind. Probably would have just wasted it anyway...Nice song bro.
This song is absolutely incredible in my top ten favorite video game songs this is number one and the rest are also made by you you've got serious talent
I need to start saying something more clever aside from lol good job, it feels so empty and generic. XD Gav, I love this I absolutely love it. I'm a huge fan of metal so this absolutely appealed to me! Thank you for making this man!
You have a very Turisas kind of sound to this. Its not a bad thing, just saying it more for a point of reference to this. Battle Anthem really fits this, and its a nice song to kick back to.
I have only one question. Will you make songs of Mordor, Nazgules, Sauron and Morgoth himself? I think it would be epic. Especially, if you will sing it.
+TheRumChum +Seier krigføring I wish there WERE more main quests tho… fighting Uruks, Uruk Captains, and Uruk Warchiefs gets old after a while when u have everything unlocked and ur steamrolling over entire armies singlehandedly in open combat.. I sometimes just went into a stronghold and deliberately get the alarm raised just to make the fight a bit more fair and more enjoyable... I actually made a new Xbox 360 profile JUST to play the game again cuz with my original profile I was the most OP thing in Mordor... it gets old after a while being the Saitama of Lord of the Rings. XD
a Tolkien inspired song eh... what to expect? strings? a drum and tuba arrangement breaking into a cello and flute mix... nope... THIS IS METAL! THIS IS MORDOR!

"Through rubble, rock and stone

Which is clearly taken form Call of Home, there is the "Justice runs in crimson rivers" for AC games, the Dark Souls bridge melody in both DS songs and the list goes on. Love your work Gavin, you're amazing.
Still one of my favorites. After all these years
That sounded just like Call of Home.
"Through rubble, rock and stone
The ashes are my home
The silver sting of hatred
It creeps into my bones"
Both based on stories set in Middle Earth....so it makes sense
Gav really likes to include references into his previous songs in the same universe. Some are more subtle than the others.
See, for example, his Bioshock, Assassin's Creed and Batman songs.
That's one of my favourite things about MoS!
And "The Call" for The Elder Scrolls Online has a melody from "Nord Mead" for Skyrim in it.

Something I came up with while playing the sequel.
Rings of the old kings, links in their chains
Plied by their power, warped, driven insane
But I know what went wrong, how to bring reform
When my light touches all it will be reborn
Ring remade
New plan devising
Savage slaves
With their kin will clash
Ring remade
Green tide rising
Bright Lord of the ash
From rubble, rock and stone
I'll build a golden throne
To rule above a brave new world built high on backs and bones
Brand on the chattel
Freedom from choice
Built up for battle
Fear and rejoice
And my gates ever straight
Ever charged, my scroll
Will master the fate
Of each living soul

Wow, that was great. This was my favorite movie franchise and I loved the game. Honestly the words capture the true and total essence of the game. Great Job.
So hyped for this game. If anyone here has it can you tell me what its like. I need to wait for it to come into stock.
Also brilliant song
It's "Assasin's creed" in Mordor.
Иван Орлов OK thanks.
It's a wonderfully crafted action game about killing hundreds of orcs, with some story now and then. But mostly killing orcs. :)
Иван Орлов is the story good. I didn't watch anything so I wouldn't spoil it
I love how he remixed 'Call of Home' at 3:42 where you see Gollum climbing the wall.
And I LOVE that in the Call of Home Video the Gollum scene also starts exactly at 3:42. Oh Gav, you love to place easter eggs, don't you? :)
1:55 Is that Anakin Skywalker? It sure looks like him XD
No, that's just the Black Hand.
"From my point of view the Bright Lord is evil!"
Slend "YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE! YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DESTROY THE DARK LORD, NOT JOIN HIM!"
Awesome song. I'm playing this game as soon as I upgrade my system (probably mid 2015), and I'm already hyped for it.
Reminds me of dream evil and powerwolf at the same time. Amazing!
Holy hell I love that little callback to Call of Home you threw in, brilliant song like always!
Replaying this for the second time only makes me want to buy the game (And the song) even more.
It is a very fun game I suggest renting it if you want to give it a taste (if that is still a thing these days.....) however I hear last gen doesn't have the nemesis system fully implemented which is probably the best part of the game even though it is a tad simple at times
TheSpoonyCroy I'm just gonna grab it on Steam when it goes on sale, as I do not own a console.
Cael Bravery
Good idea :P Great game if you love manipulation however I wished they would open the floodgates for mods since the nemesis system would be awesome in several other universes like a song of ice and fire or 40k
TheSpoonyCroy I thought that, if this could be made to go into another complicated universe with deception and betrayal, it would make it even greater than it already is!
darkabysskiller
I would love to have a shadow organization simulator where you can start as a grunt and work your way up or start out as a boss of a small group and build yourself up to become a world feared organization :P
do you know that awesome feeling when you wake up on your birthday and the first thing you see is that your favorite musician uploaded a new freaking awesome song^^?
i love how you used Call Of Home for some parts :)
it sounds just perfect
I've said it before and I'll say it again - fantasy suits you like The Ring suits Smeagol (in a good way)! :P Also, love that little sprinkle of Call of Home in this song. Amazing work as always! :)
Your best one yet, the video is sync to the tune !! Keep going man, you rock !
Wonder how humanity evolved from really old rusty flutes used by monkeys to this masterpiece.
I love how a part of the song sounded like Call of Home! Awesome as always you are,Gavin.
I need to start saying something more clever aside from lol good job, it feels so empty and generic. XD Gav, I love this I absolutely love it. I'm a huge fan of metal so this absolutely appealed to me! Thank you for making this man!
Great song, and game is probably the best thing to come out of middle earth since Lord of the Rings
Can't wait for "Ruler Of The Ash" when Shadow of War comes out
Loving the way you have certain motifs for certain franchises, first Assassin's Creed, then Bioshock and now this, great work keep it up!
You have a very Turisas kind of sound to this. Its not a bad thing, just saying it more for a point of reference to this. Battle Anthem really fits this, and its a nice song to kick back to.
I love how i hear an echo to The Call of Home in the "Through rubble, rock and stone" line, and indeed in the very melody of the song.
I have only one question. Will you make songs of Mordor, Nazgules, Sauron and Morgoth himself? I think it would be epic. Especially, if you will sing it.
Though I do not like fantasy and do not understand why everything is so idolized Lord of the Rings, but this song is just AWESOME!!!
Love this song and this game you are a talented artist Gavin keep doing what your doing
not the kind of song i expected and its FREAKIN awsome
3:52
*agressively lowering arms*
I liked the parallels between Call Home, very nicely done.
I absolutely loved this game, could have been a bit longer. but nonetheless pretty freaking awesome :)
also I keep wanting to hear... EXTERMINATE!.... at 2:48. XD
XD
This has to be one of your best ones to date
Guys, the sequel is coming!
'Through river root and stone, the distant call of home, so far yet always with us...' Wait.
Another amazing song, your channel should have more subs.
