What do you say about old school breathing styles? All opera singers from the past advocated thoractic breathing. If you take any old singing book, they'll say: "Breathe in your chest." Also if you watch videos of them you will see them breathing like this (Pavarotti, Martinelli, Corelli, Caruso, Callas, Volpi, Melchior, Del Monaco, etc). Thomas J. I was taught belly breathing when I first started singing and I had all sorts of problems. When I finally switched to breathing higher more into back and sides and then supporting from below my belly button did breathing and support finally make sense!
I heard that when I speak like the Cookie Monster for more than three hours a day, it strengthens the vocal folds for Bene Gesserit vocalizations. Is this true???
Does holding the NG tongue position create supraglottic pressure?
It does. Humming and Ng are also SOVTs :)
