    Hi Ron. First time here. Glad I stumbled upon your video. Bass/Bariton; often asked to sing G4s. I have a question about tongue placement in the "er" excersize -- 6:15; is your "R" formed with tip of tongue down on lower teeth and mid-tongue up towards hard palate, OR with the tip up toward uper teeth? I tried both. Both feel good. First version is interesting in that it is very very close to the "E" placement. Thanks for this warm up. I will be looking at more of your lessons.

    I struggle with my voice sounding not very rich and pleasant, and i think i might be using too little air and not too much. But i have literally no idea how much air pressure to actually use.. i have found success with physically pusving air out pretty hard, and my belly activating automatically to sustain a note and not get a very airy sound. However.. then i loose my ability too mix easily, and yeah.. i cant seem to figure out how much pressure i should feel build up in the chest and belly. Any tips?

      Try planking to engage your core as you sing or pretending to box as well. As you sing. You could also breath out air and shout easily. Try that and let me know!

    I'm a trans man, about 5 or 6 months on testosterone and my voice is about tenor now. The changes have been absolutely wild to keep up with, and while I only had a few vocal lessons in the past anyway, I'm having to completely shift the way I place my voice because everything has moved so noticably. I've been struggling to find a part of my new voice that even sounds like a singing voice, but the adele exercise you showed instantly brought out the powerful part of my voice that I've never heard before--I'm honestly amazed I could sound like this so early on HRT, and it gives me so much hope for finally learning to sing in a voice that feels like it's mine

    I’m trying to sing Judy Garland’s The Man That Got away and the C# on the word “to” is killing me. It really sounds like she’s singing full chest on “where’s he gone TO” I don’t know how she’s doing it. Any tips? Thanks so much!

      First it’s probably not as chest as you think. Second try changing the t to a light d. Then try singing an uh that ends with ew on that oo vowel. I hope that helps!

    I’ve been on complete voice rest due to laryngitis making my voice disappear 100%. In at the end of my 10th day of silence and I have that tight feeling in my throat, it feels like my throat is tying itself inside out, I sing at church and am totally freaked out that I won’t be able to sing like before anymore. I don’t want to talk or do anything that would worsen it, how long of this exercise to get things back to normal?

    • @singingwithron
      @singingwithron 6 місяців тому

      Hey Ashley, be patient. You will get your voice back. I have found that you have to start using your voice in order to get it back. It might take awhile but be patient and gentle. Also try this video to see if it helps ua-cam.com/video/RPTU1WJZxz0/v-deo.htmlsi=f5vJUMnO9g2px8kq

      You may be taking chest voice up too high. If you know what your mix voice is try to incorporate that down from higher in your range. You can also try watching my video on Finding Twang on this channel. Also my version of the ng siren would also help. Basically how little air and sound can you use to get to your high voice. This will help you find your mix. I hope that helps!

    • @Tho_mas06
      @Tho_mas06 6 місяців тому

      @@singingwithron thank you very much for reaching back to me sir...I'm taking my chest voice too high actually. Straining is quite frequent and so is inconsistency. People say singing shouldn't hurt but it kinda does sometimes. I know I'm doing stuff wrong and my singing teacher just doesn't know what to do it seems. He just told me I'm a baritone-bass, killing my hopes of singing higher, and so he doesn't even want me to use my falsetto and head voice, which can reach up to D6. I used your technique and my G4 had never felt more free. My hopes of singing higher were revived. I think I'm more than a baritone-bass cause I really struggle to get the heaviness of the tone since singing lighter and softer is just normal for me. I'm going to try what you said Ron and give you feedback. And please, any advice on sore throats and hoarseness? Thank you very much. I really love your content.

    • @singingwithron
      @singingwithron 6 місяців тому

      I think you should have access to being a baritone and a tenor. Sometimes teachers can only you teach you what they know. His knowledge of singing outside of his chest might be limited. The finding a teacher that is a tenor to help you with your high notes. I promise you, you have them.

      What do you say about old school breathing styles? All opera singers from the past advocated thoractic breathing. If you take any old singing book, they'll say: "Breathe in your chest." Also if you watch videos of them you will see them breathing like this (Pavarotti, Martinelli, Corelli, Caruso, Callas, Volpi, Melchior, Del Monaco, etc). Thomas J. Hixon also wrote a lot about this topic. Greetings from Germany :)

    Hi Ron. Do you have any videos about the "tilt"? I realize the tilt is necessary for classical singers to access notes around and after passagio. I find the tilt is a necessary "movement" to reach high notes but it is undermined when a lot of space or "yawning " is used. Is the "quacking or the "baby" sound a way to find the tilt?

    • @singingwithron
      @singingwithron 8 місяців тому

      Hey! This video is not about classical tilt and I currently don’t have any videos on that idea. I’ve recently been moving away from that idea and thinking of it more as something attained by the back of the tongue rather than a tilt in the larynx. I’ll half to make one!
