i worked in the sign business for many years i mastered every department from machining the backs and faces/ paint/ wiring and vinyl the way these signs are being made they wouldn't last more than a few years and definitely wouldn't pass a UL inspection. extruded aluminum return channel notched and stapled to a backer no sealant in the joint so the channel letters are held together with hopes an dreams. and how in the world could you expect staples to hold trim cap to acrylic faces. I would get a cheap made sign in for an install pre purchased by customer and the UL inspector always wanted a boat load of changes to make it safe but thats the cost of being cheap all my signs look just as good as the day they went up 20+ years ago 100% handmade no visible seems or fasteners and a perfect paint job something worth being proud of
i agree with this . i use material foam and pima foam have high durability (over 10 years ) . And it's lighter , good price and easier to install , while the LED bulb has reached the end of its lifespan
LED's really changed how signs are back-lit... used to use round Florescent tubes of various lengths laid at various angles. A sign might have 2 foot, 3 foot, 4 foot, 8 foot tubes to get uniform lighting. LED's last for years, not so with Florescent tubes.
signmaking had changed so much throughout the years .30 years ago everything is simple ,neon, fluorescent acrylic and drawings .now ,printing ,stickers ,led, designs ,machinery ..yet old worker like me about 25 years have to pass this beloved job due to lack of advance and stamina ..going to food business now.
A lot of it looks great, but it looks very poor with the use of insulating tape on the wires and hole treatment on the hot, rain, and humidity-exposed signage. It appears that the creator of this video lacked electrical common sense and included a video that viewers were concerned about.
O this was rather interesting not what I expected. I really like neon street signs more than led. My question is are there small or big business who still make them by hand? That would be awesome to see.
here in the states I work at a shop that is one of the last few that make some by hand. We too have the machines to bend them up but the machines cannot accomplish every task. Very customized jobs require intimate forming.
Good job! Although some terminals are not clearly understood, please make another video. This time maybe call Catherine to explain like she would in trade and investment, that lady is life saver.
Did they hand twist those wire connections before wrapping them in electrical tape? I wonder why this is an east Asia thing? You don't see this in the west. We find it quite scary - especially when high power 3 phase systems are powered with wires twisted like this.
could anybody help with the name of each equipment/Machine Name (From Lower To Bigger) , What all of them called by or make or anything useful to buy them by their name?

Some terminal blocks for the electrical connections inside the enclosure will be much more professional and easier to troubleshoot later.
Yea, a simple t-tap terminal would be much nicer and more reliable.
Atleast proper splice connectors.
I know, I was filled with horror at the wire twisting...
But then you don't get repeat business.
These are likely for expo, conventions or pop up stores. Good enough to last a week.

Yeah, signage is still a very manual process because of how personalized all the work is. Even in the states, this is still true.

7:15 a little frustrating to see no abrasion grommets in the holes going through the sheet metal. Heat shrink will only go so far.
The electrical overall seems lacking. Everything else looks pretty good though.
