    I have a test tomorrow on topographical maps and gradient, and I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT GRADIENT no matter how many times I try to study it, but once I came to this video, I understand it A LOT NOW. Even if it’s 13 years old, (made before I was even born xD)

    You can also use rise over run formula to get a percent (elevation divided by distance) Add the percent to the actual distance and you will calculate the real distance you must travel. From here, you will know how to apply your own pace count (your individual steps per 100 meters or yards) when walking the incline of the hill. Think of this as A square plus B square equal C square. 😀

    may I ask do we need convert mi to ft or whatever units are inbetween contour lines? I mean... we divided 80 units (or feet) by 1 mile. We dont convert anything in this tutorial Im curious if we ever would need to do that? Thanks

    wait wait wait! excuse me. I'm no expert but I believe you have to have both the distance and gradient have the same unit.

    where is the scale?

  • @kelvinkipngenokoech9474
    @kelvinkipngenokoech9474 4 місяці тому

    Gradient can't be just 380-300,and then you get the answer, how did you used the ratio scale on the map? 1:50,000
