Same here! I cant learn theory just to know it. Best way to try to pick it up while analyzing your favourites’ playing. Music theory is descriptive afterall.

@@DogwithtwoBones yes make another youtube video showing a lot of different Blackmore licks. His live Raindow concerts and live deep purple concerts in the 70's, 80's he uses harmonic minor, phyrigian dominant, hungarian scale "double" harmonic scale licks
@@DogwithtwoBones When I listen to deep purple and rainbow albums I can't tell by ear when blackmore is using the harmonic minor scale , phrygian dominant scale but my ears can't tell. If you can show in a youtube video lesson ALL the deep purple and raindow blackmore licks that he uses the harmonic minor scale and phrygian dominant scale Because my ears only hear blackmore doing pentatonic blues licks mostly 90% of the time
@@billwilliams6338 Blackmore does a lot of pentatonic for sure but transitioning to rainbow he really expanded on the natural minor scale and the aforementioned exotic scales modes but he does it sparingly. Still I don't have enough time to transcribe and make a video about/with all the licks. These scales have a really unique tonality which you can train your ear to pick up on. If we are talking about the E harmonic minor, play E Eb C B on the guitar and memorise that sound. Anytime you'll hear that it will be a permutation of these scales I am showing in this video mini series. Songs like Lady of the Lake, Eyes of Fire come to mind. I might have already mentioned that I am available for skype lessons to discuss any Blackmore related topic.
