    For the top of my metal workbench, I purchased a stall mat, cut to fit. It can take a beating.

    Task creep: If I'm gonna do A, I might as well do B while I'm at it, and B gives me access to C... Eventually, you find yourself building a new garage. Conversely, inability to do B can stifle progress on A... I should B while I'm doing A, but I can't get the materials for B, and I'm not doing A until I can. Anyway, you got there, and the results are great.

    This winter was a mess. They didnt salt for the big snow event that shut down most of the main highways but then over salted for every time it looked like it might rain. We just cant deal with snow in MD.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 роки тому +1

      Hey. Long time no see. They salted for the biggest snow around me, but they definitely laid it on thick at times where we got next to nothing. In their defense, I'm sure it's a tough job with weather uncertainties paired with liabilities if treatment is insufficient.

    *"Wow, what an incredible transformation! Your garage makeover is truly inspiring. It's amazing to see how some paint, a creative backsplash, and smart storage solutions can turn a space into a functional and organized workshop. Your attention to detail is impeccable, and I love how you've created such an inviting and efficient work area. Thanks for sharing your journey - it's a fantastic reminder that with a bit of vision and hard work, we can transform any space into something special. Keep up the great work!" 🛠✨*

    If you want a cheap, tough rubber workbench top. Conveyor belt. It's 1/2" thick and 2nd hand. It comes in lengths of several miles. They'll give it to you.

    Nice job on the garage. Another idea for mats for the workbench are tractor trailer mud flaps. Normally come in two sizes 24x30 in. and 24x36 in.. They are like "project" size, so not covering the whole workbench. They come in two variations, hard plastic and rubber. The hard plastic is ribbed on one side and smooth on the other. Easy to clean and portable. If they get screwed up, they are cheap to replace and they take a beating. You can find them anywhere they sell heavy duty truck parts.

    I made it to the end. Damn you were busy. Now I’m into the rock slides. Fun.
    If you have a quarry or concrete plant near you elevator machine belts are wide flat, may be smooth on one side or both. When they break typically maintenance departments keep the old belts for emergencies. Sometimes they’ll sell old belts at “cut rate” prices.

    A short “whiz” roller is perfect for cutting in something as rough as a garage the edge has nap so it will do an inside corner. Nice 👍🏻 job buddy🛵

    Brent, a nice alternative for those mats on the workbench would be horse stall mats. They are $50 for 6’x4’, I actually have half my garage lined with them. Super easy to clean with simple green and easier on the knees than cement flooring.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 роки тому

      Thanks. So far I'm happy with the workbench top. It has held up well. I do keep a piece of board nearby though, so when I am doing something rough I can abuse that instead of the mat and bench. The anti-fatigue mats were pricey, but also holding up very well and I like them much better than the cheap block style mats that I used for a long time.

    Looking good. Only thing you need is pick up some epoxy paint an hit the floor. That creates the smoothest surface. I did that in my shop and it really helps been able to clean oil and dirt in seconds.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 роки тому

      Thanks. I have thought about that in the past and during this project. Maybe later. The next thing that I really would like to do is insulate the garage doors. Largely because of road noise. I had part 1 of a root canal, part 2 is coming next week and then build up and crown, so that ended any garage budget (that I was already way over lol).

    Very nice! Looks like a massive improvement from before. Btw for storage, you could consider making a loft if you have a tall enough ceiling, maybe not the best for your garage but when I had a workshop with my friends we had over 16 ft of headroom so we had a shed inside the shop which we could stack shit on top of.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 роки тому +1

      There's an attic over the garage, but the construction company messed it up. They ordered the wrong trusses and never caught it so we ended up with tall ceilings and an attic that you can just crawl on your hands and knees in.

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  Рік тому +1

      I don't think I spent that much to do the whole garage. Most of it was cheap-ish, but I could have definitely saved money by building shelves with 2x4s and plywood or using standard pegboard instead of the metal wall control. I've been happy with both though. Time was the biggest investment.

    Hi Brent.. That turned out great! Nice work. I am getting ready to pull the trigger on swapping out the carb on my Roughhouse 50 (with 70cc kit) for a 19mm. so I was re watching some of your old videos... It hit me that I haven't seen anything from you for a while so I went searching... Glad to see you are back at it. Cant wait for some warm weather and to see what kind of hot rod scoot you will be building this summer... Take care

    • @49ccscoot
      @49ccscoot  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks Mark! You'll see some scooter related stuff before too long. Good luck with the carb swap. Not sure which one, but I've been very happy with DellOrto PHBGs. They fit nicely into stock intakes (mild porting may be beneficial, especially with the larger 21mm versions, to match them up to the carb size). Stock airboxes can fit on them so they can be pretty inconspicuous. Lots of people love flat slides, but the PHBG is a good carb IMO.

      @@49ccscoot Hi Brent. I went with the $85 Delorto knock off Naraku 17.5 from Scootertuning... The fit was great and I have it pretty well dialed in (I think) The only hiccup was the throttle cable was not an exact swap... I was able to make it work but I think I will end up going with a longer cable so I can use the adjustable 90 cable guide I bought.

      Good question. I swear I keep saying and telling myself that I'm going to get back to it and then I get wrapped up in everything else. I realized just the other day that I've had that thing for 9 years and I think my last video about it was about 7 years ago. I had no intention of that sort of time passing. I've got a whole pile of parts for it. By the time I get there, they'll be new in box antiques.
